Valentine's Day

Postby Alice » Tue Feb 13, 2007 10:22 pm

I've never really liked Valentine's Day. Probably lots of people feel less than happy about it.

But really, isn't that more of a reason than ever to wish each other a happy one?

So happy Valentine's day, y'all. :)

On a side note, did anyone else notice the "poll" on Amazon.com a few days ago? It was a choice between "love" or "hate" Valentine's day. I clicked the latter  and they showed me a bunch of choices for really awful Valentine's day gifts. Some of them were really funny, like praying mantis egg sacs, a set of three kazoos, and an anatomically correct heart.
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share

And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.

You're right, I don't like Valentine's Day. XD

But thanks, Alice. Have a good one yourself too. :D

I love Valentines day, but only because of the Chocolate.

Today is also the Day of Purity! I didn't know that until today! ^_^

The Day of Purity is something that youth across america are doing to demonstrate their choice of sexual purity. They wear white and all that fun stuff... so I am gonna wear my mostly white hoodie today! ^_^

Here is my Valentines/ Purity Day card for Everyone! ^_^

:o

That's awesome. I want one. xD;;

Even though I am bitter and don't like Valentines day....

Everyone have a great one. On the other hand, I know I will be celebrating Anti-Valentines day. A day on which I celebrate being single, and the benefits I gain therein.

Yeah, I used to hate Valentine's Day too, but then I realized how shallow it is for most people. Did I really want a big box of chocolates and a kinda ugly stuffed bear, or did I really just want the attention?

And then I look at people like my parents who have been married for 20 years, and realize love like that does deserve some special recognition, even if it has been completely commercialized.

If nothing else, if you're feeling miserable today you can rejoice in the knowledge that Christ loves you more than any human ever could. Who needs flowers or candy when you've been given eternal life and precious blood?

o.s. this is, however, my first Valentine's Day with someone and I'm rather excited about it. XD

Yes, well, for the perpetually singal like myself, Valentines Day can be rather depressing, so I can see why it would be an unpopular holiday. I'm not depressed, mind you, I have become comfortable in my singleness, which may in itself be sad, but I'm going to stop typing now.

Happy Valentines Day. For those of you in love, a special day to spend with you significant other.

I love Valentine's Day. It's not because I have a significant other of some kind (never have), but because it means all the chocolate goes on sale tomorrow! Time to go shopping! I've been looking forward to this coming weekend for weeks.

Cheap Chocolate 4 Teh Win!

Never been big on Valentine's Day, myself -- or any Hallmark Holiday, for that matter.

But vast quantities of chocolate at drastically reduced prices?

Oh yes... that's the stuff!

Happy Valentines Day all!

I notice some people are quite sad/depressed/annoyed/indifferent about Valentines Day, and that gets me wondering. You know, Valentines Day doesn't have to be about spending time with a significant other, or sending him/her a card, gift, chocolate, flowers, or a stuffed animal. I think it's really about just recognizing the friendships you have with those of the opposite gender (Especially when single). I think that's what people should focus on instead of moping and groping about being single.

So yeah! To all the wonderful females I know (If you girls hang around CAA, consider yourself wonderful): Happy Valentines Day to you!

As for what I did, I just sent E-Cards to a number of female friends I have. Nothing too drastic, but I think it was a good idea.

I don't really have feelings either way about Valentine's day... in fact, today is a snow day and we're under level three snow emergency so I wouldn't be seeing a guy even if I did have a boyfriend. Kinda funny.

I'm usually pretty indifferent about Valentine's Day. It's never done anythins to hurt me so I have no reason to dislike it. Now granted it does spring forth some loneliness when you don't perticularly have a significant other but, meh, any day can do that. This year it looked like I might break the tradition of being single but fate always seems to conspire to maintain tradition. lol.

Anyway enough of that, happy V-Day everyone. ^^ Hope your's was fairly enjoyable. Mine has been pretty good thus far.

I'm actually feeling a bit BLAH today but that has nothing to do with the day it is but rather the way I've been feeling since I got up.Cabin fever and all that I suppose.
I've decided though to stop sending anime valentine e-cards until I meet Ms.Right.
As far as the day itself goes,my oldest sister's birthday is tommorrow and that's a bit more important in my family.

Ditto, being a kiwi.

Hmm... I forgot about the cheap chocolate aspect. Must get me some of that. ^_^

Like many others, I don't really feel much for Valentines Day one way or the other. I'm keeping myself single (half by choice, half by other, plus a tiny smidgen of having three brothers ;) ) waiting for the right guy, so I'm another Valumtimes (HR reference. Great link there, RD  ) lonesome.
Hmm... but I don't feel any need to hate it. To tell the truth, I barely notice when the day arrives and it's over before I know it.

Hope you all have a great Valentines Day, whether there be any Valentines in it or not. ;) But I hope there do be cheap-priced chocolate in it all the same.

I like Valentine's day for what it represents. I think it's a good holiday to celebrate. And besides, St. Valentine didn't get sainthood for nothing.

Like many of you, I lack a significant other, as well. I began this Valentine's Day with the intention of hating it as I always have, but yesterday actually turned out very well. I think I enjoy the holiday now. In my Comp. Speech class, our coach spent most of the hour showing us one-panel comics on her projector from the "Love is..." series (by Kim Cavali) while playing 80's love ballads on her stereo. It was great. Anyway, the comics are really cute. The website is http://www.comicspage.com/loveis/ if anyone wants to check them out!
