Trouble with trip planning

Postby GracefulRocker » Mon Feb 05, 2007 7:51 am

Ok, i want to go on a road trip in June with my best friend to the coast. It's 8 hours away, and mym mom has been there before. It will be just my friend and I driving there by ourselves. We are seniours, and this is supposed to be our last hurrah. However, my parents are really iffy about my going. I'll pay for everything I will need/want, gas food, my 1/2 of the room, etc. I need to make resevations now, but i don't want to do it without my parents' bleesings, especially since my mom pays my car insurance.

I'm 18, so technically, I could just go, but i don't want to completely disregard my parents like that.

My friend and I have already supplied them with a trip agenda, budget, info on all of the places we're going to go, driving directions, photos, costs and all. They still won't give me an answer. My dad said that if i'd give him more info, he'd say yes, so that's why we put together that whole packet of stuff for them, but he's still really hesitant. I don't think he thought I'd actually put all of that togther. I have a feeling that their are stalling in hopes that we'll just forget about it, get distracted, and the whole idea will disappear.

I know that they are worried about all of the what ifs, and that this will be a huge leap from what they think i am capable of.

Has anyone got any suggestions on how to convince them?

Yes, I know I've been gone a while. Forgive me, and if it makes you feel better, blame it on college and chickens.

I suppose you could give them time to decide. Or do little things around the house that shows that you're responsible.

Yesterday, Nate and I actually booked a flight, car, and hotel together to go to California this June. My mom was a bit iffy on it at first, but I kind of convinced her.

Well a good idea would agree on points on the way where you would call home to tell them how you were doing.I think though I understand your father's perspective, two young girls off on their own like that it can be a father's worse nightmare.
