So... where do you buy your anime?

Postby Scarecrow » Wed Jan 31, 2007 1:07 am

I was just curious where most people buy their videos at. I've been having a tough time finding ANYTHING anywhere... the only place that even had an anime section was Best Buy and they shrunk their section down ALOT since the last time I've been there (they didnt even have the whole Evangelion series this time which I was planning to buy). Most of the stuff now is just single discs of animes I've never heard of or stuff like Yugioh and Pokemon and maybe some Full Metal Alchemest or something. So looks like amazon is my new best friend when it comes to anime atm.

So where do you get yours and do you have a hard time finding what you want? Just curious.

I purchase pretty much all my Anime through Amazon or related online services. Stores tend to be too pricey.

I purchase mine through RightStuf International's "Got Anime" membership program on line. Occasionally I'll pick something up at Best Buy.

We actually have those two stores.

Electronics Boutique is called EB Games here now, though.

I normally get mine from Amazon or I go to the Suncoast in the Orange Park Mall (which is about to close in a few months.) Unfortunately, I don't have a job at the moment, so my anime buying has been extremely limited. Thank goodness for Netflix!

Usually from deepdiscountdvd.com which 75% of the time is the best price anywhere. Sometimes Bestbuy when I have reward zone discounts.

Hmm, usually EBay, but believe it or not, Borders express sells some anime on DVD near the Manga section. I have also found it at FYE (for your entertainment) and at some used at video rental places. (though they only have older stuff)

Retail Bookstores:Barnes & Nobles,Borders
Online Anime Stores:Animenation
Print Catalog:Rightstuf
(My computer hasn't allowed me to get into the Animenation check out page
since around July or August so I got the Rightstuf print catalog as back up plan

Also at times if someone has something they want to get rid of and it's a title I
really am interested in I will buy it off of them.

I usually get mine from Best Buy, since it's the most convenient. I have used online stores relatively often in the past, and I've been quite pleased with the services. Also, I found a store while I was in Florida called "MovieStop" (GameStop's movie counterpart) that had more anime than any store I'd ever been in, and I bought some things there, too. XD But as far as shopping on a regular basis goes, Best Buy, definitely.

Amazon is where I get most of my anime from. Best Buy and Borders, as well, though they usually don't have what I'm looking for.

RightStuf, fairly often
DeepDiscountDVD, most of the time

I tend to go to Borders for manga--they've got the BEST rewards program there.

As for DVDs, I tend to buy from either DeepDiscountDVD.com, or Right Stuf. It really depends on what sales are going on/who's got the best price.

When I started buying DVDs, Best Buy and Suncoast were two places that I often rotated for my purchases. I later did the online thing with Rightstuf and I've been happy with their selection, but I've leaned heavily towards DVD Empire because they have better prices in general and better availability (no more "On Order from Manufacturer" type delays).

For manga, Borders is definitely the way to go for me.

Best Buy,Suncoast,Boarders and hot topic on regular basis though.

So I take it you're in the Tampa area. One of the reasons I decided to switch to
Rightstuf, aside from the problems with the computer on my end,was that geographically Iowa is closer to where I live than Florida.Although I have no complaints with Animenation,it's just the stupid computer.

The majority of my anime dvds come from Amazon.com or Best Buy. I also buy some things at Wal-Mart and FYE(from the used section because their new dvds are way too much). Also, I'll buy things from RightStuf if they're running a good sale on something I want.

Well, they sell new games too, and used DVD's, so sometimes you can find dirth cheap anime there, albeit old stuff and random volumes.

Albeit, wow I just realized that word was in my vocabulary, wonder what english class I learned that in?

I mainly have to order by mail because of the fact that we don't get to Spokane that often in Winter and that's the closest place for buying anime.
