My family makes fun of e for a couple of words I say wrong... one being Toyota... I pronouce it "Ti-yota" But I can't hear teh difference... >.< lol

Speaking of cars... it bugs me how like, no English speaker can say "Subaru" right! Gah!! >_< It's "soo-BAH-roo" NOT "soo-BEH-roo!" When .hack//SIGN first aired the dub I was like "Ok, now I hope they can say Subaru's name right" (having been used to the sub aka: the right pronounciation) but nope! Not even in there!
Amusing though in some anime dubs, how some VAs can pronounce a name correctly and others not :/ So the name like, varies in pronounciation from person to person (but it's REALLY not that hard! >_<)

As for me, I pronounce the "d" in sandwich and the "l" in salmon very, very, very softly. The same way I pronounce the u's in Yusuke and Tetsusaiga and the a-e sound in Keiko. Can't hear it, but it's there.

Do you know what bothers me? How English speakers put extra syllables in Japanese words that don't need them. For example, Kyo. It's one syllable, not KEE-yo. Eww. >< Same thing goes for Tokyo. It's not To-KEE-yo, it's To-kyo. It's not that hard to say, "Kyo."
I understand if you guys get the "hy" sound weird though, but it is also one syllable. I'm looking at you, W4C. XD
I never did this, but once I witness someone pronounce "arab," "Ay-rahb," as opposed to, "Air-ub." That was pretty amusing.

I DO normally pronounce "*y#" (where * is a consonant and # is a vowel) as one syllable, but this is just an exception to the rule.. cos I've always said it that way...
*ahem* Tokyo also has long vowel sounds, so it would be Toukyou rather than "Toe-ki-o".

Yeah, I wonder why all the English speakers never seem to pronounce Japanese words right... They always have this great accent. (I know they are two very different languages, but so are for example, Finnish and English too, and most Finns find it easy to pronounce English.)

I've got a friend from Iran who pronounces them correctly, so I picked up on part of that. What's really funny to me is how he says they pronounce Iran in Iran. "Persia."

The "oh" I am thinking of has the same vowel sound as shop, rot, cop, stop, et al.
The other "oh" would sound like show, no, hoho, slow.
The "ah" would sould like sharp, harp, tart, etc.

I am not sure if this has been mentioned but a very annoying word that people around me use is the word for Wash. Many of my friends and fellow church members pronounce it Warsh.

and i find it really hard to pronounce french people's names.... i was reading to my mom the book Phantom of the Opera and oh holy there are a zillion french names in there i cannot pronounce except for like a few of the names i know how to pronounce cuz i watched the movie... haha.
but i can understand me not being able to pronounce french... even though i took french for two years... lol
oh and i'd like to know how to say Pilates ( that workout that is sortof like yoga but not) . is it like Pill-ahh-tz or is it Pill-ah-teeez i've heard people say it both ways... whats the right way to say it?

Pii-lah-teez. I used to call it "pie-lates" though, whne I first say the word^^
Oh, and here's one I find myself saying wrong: "irony". It wasn't until on The Simpsons (where I always seem to learn random trivia from :/) that I learned the right pronounciation... I used to (and still do) call it "eye-er-nii" rather than the proper "eye-ron-ee". It just seems to take so much more effort and hard to say^^ Which is also why I use the American pronounciation of tour ("tore") rather than our way of "two-err". It takes forever for me to spit it out, and sounds werid^^ Although our "proper" way sure does sound more Canadiany^^
