Okay, maybe I should have said 'Misdirected hate' is like poison instead.
I know we are to hate sin, but how do you write an analogy about it with that in mind.
I was putting it in black and white terms (very simple) if a little wrong. I know God has righteous anger and he never sins. It's one of those times you know what you want to say but it doesn't come out properly.
I'll shut up now. (lol)

On one hand, your question can be taken in a very immediate sense, which would most likely deal with hate overcoming your heart if you choose to harbor it towards another person. Personally, I think that if someone keeps a hatred for someone in their heart and doesn't deal with it properly, it will drastically affect them spiritually, emotionally and possibly physically. In that sense, hate gets a temporary victory if you don't purpose in your heart to deal with it, ideally replacing it with love.

God is God, we aren't. We are CALLED to Love, and to stear clear of ANYTHING sinful...doesn't that mean stay away from hating (unecassarily) as well?
Hatred DOES tear things apart, it can really destroy someone.... So I have to disagree with you there, Nate. (sorry)
But when I was doing my research... I didn't see very many "POSITIVE" verses about hatred...in fact I think that one verse in Romans was all that I really found.

Misdirected hatred can indeed destroy someone, I don't disagree.
I really feel...like you guys aren't reading my posts. And I hate to say it like that, but look. I have admitted, that we, as humans misuse hatred. We do. There's no denying that. We hate what we aren't supposed to hate. This is because we're fallen humans.
I'll say it one last time, though, to make it absolutely clear, and then when the next person ignores it I'll give up saying anything else. Hatred is NOT negative, it is NOT evil, it is NOT sinful, it IS a good thing. Hatred is a good thing because without hatred God would not be God. If God did not hate sin, He wouldn't be holy and righteous. We need to have that same righteous hatred to what is evil.
It's just we, as humans, misuse it. We hate righteousness, which is bad. We hate people, which is bad. This should not happen. Hatred is like anger. Anger isn't bad either, it's just misused by humans. Hatred and anger are part of what God is, though it's certainly not His biggest attributes (His mercy is far greater than His hatred or anger), they do still exist and to think that God is some big grandpa up in the sky who goes, "Oh that's okay" whenever you sin, well, He's NOT. He hates sin, He gets angry when we sin, and it's only by His INFINITE grace and mercy that we are kept from His wrath.
Regardless of how humans use hatred and anger, that doesn't make them bad.
Serial killers can use a pair of scissors to kill someone. That doesn't make scissors evil and bad. It's who uses them and how. God uses anger and hatred correctly. Humans tend not to. But anger and hatred ARE good.
But when I was doing my research... I didn't see very many "POSITIVE" verses about hatred...in fact I think that one verse in Romans was all that I really found.
Hatred very rarely is positive, at least not in the sense that we view it. XD Most of the time when hatred is mentioned it's used to describe those who have turned away from God, or people fairly deserving of God's wrath. Remember "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated." That isn't really a positive statement, but then again, remember what Esau did. So while hatred isn't exactly positive, it's necessary and useful.

EDIT: I'm not really mad...if it sounds that way...more frustrated. XD;; I think I'm kinda having the same problem that W4J was having where he kept getting misintepreted. XP

Hey, I listened, and totally agree.
In fact, in that sense, neither "love" or "hate" can truly be considered to be "good" or "bad."
Many say love is good; does that make loving evil things good?
Many say hate is bad; does that make (as said) hating Sin bad?

Anyway, here's my thoughts.
The devil loves it when people hate each other. He thrives on it. One thing we should keep in mind was that Jesus Himself even reached out to those who were outcasts. So, if God even cares about those who don't know about Him, then we really have no reason to hate.

Letting them know they are in the wrong would be the proper course of action. However, that is a risk that could elicit a rather fiery response from them. I've heard it said that hate is just a stronger love, in reverse...but who knows. You must love the person you hate in some way - you dedicate so much of your time to them, whether it be in conflict or brutal thought.

I would say "Go to those who hate your or love you (like if someone close to you is doing something they shouldn't and they are Christians) Anyway you should go to them in love if you feel so led by God. Then you should say (again with love) "You know...what you are doing is it helping you spiritually? What about those around you?"
Or SOMETHING like that...not those EXACT words because who knows what the case is...XD;
I would go up to someone who hates me and be like "You know... I forgive you.." and they will be like "WHAT!?" But you know...even if it totally makes you look like an idiot...they will not forget easily..XD

I think part of the problem is that people think hate is the opposite of love, but it isn't. Hate often has to go hand in hand with love, for example, if I have someone I love, and I see them doing something horrible that will destroy their life, I must hate what they are doing to love them. I don't hate them, just what they're doing. I must hate destructive actions to love them.
The opposite of love is apathy. To have no feelings, good or bad, about what someone is doing. To not care at all.
