CAA Walkabout?

Talk about anything in here.

CAA Walkabout?

Postby Zarn Ishtare » Thu Jan 11, 2007 5:56 am

To explain, a Walkabout online in this context would be going to another forum with a bunch of people, sort of like an "e-vacation", or just branching out to meet new people. Tokyopop has tried it with some sucess, so I figured we might try it as well! This needn't be a massive thing, but it does seem rather interesting, so I think it's worth a try.

Now, the following questions:

Where should we go?

How long should we hang there?

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

For now, I'd suggest Anime Angels. It's a short trip, no traffic, near the beach...and besides, it's a fellow christian site (and the place where I got the idea, as Tokyopop did their walkabout there). So, who's interested?

P.S. I realize there are several people who hang out on both forums, but most people here don't go over to AA, and very few from AA come here (or so it seems.) So, that is the purpose for this. If this goes well, maybe we'll go somewhere else for our next vacations, but any fighting, and I swear I'll turn this internet right around! :P

Oh yeah, I saw the people from Tokyopop at AA, too. XD Anyways, I wouldn't have a problem with it I guess. I mean, I visit AA a few times a week, so it's not like I'd have to sign up or anything. I'm neutral on the subject, just as long as CAA doesn't go dead for that period of time. XD I mean, it's not like AA has a chat or anything.

Actually, I once heard of the phenomen elsewhere, though I cannot remember where: A group of people, nomads, moving from board to board, staying for a month or two, then moving on, like gypsies, picking up more people to leave with them. It's a rare thing, and one I'm not trying to emulate. However, expanding our camradrie with other forums can only be good, and besides that, it's AA we're going to for our first (unless anyone objects). From this test-run we'll see how this sort of thing goes, and then, if it works out well (I believe it will) perhaps we'll go elsewhere, like the Inverloch forums, Tokyopop, or suchlike. Anyway, glad to see you two signing up! I'll let everybody now when it begins. I'd like to get ten people in all, so we can really have a presence where we go, and maybe even introduce some more people to CAA!

Interesting... I've never heard of this kind of thing before.

Just be careful that you're not "stealing" people from other forums. They wouldn't look fondly on that. :)

You know, I hate to rain on your parade(s), but have you guys considered that you may be bringing tons of trolls to our door step?

I'm not saying you can't do it; outreach should be by far one of the key things you do with your life, online or not. And Jesus promised there would be persecution (if you can call troll waves that...I hesitate because I don't think they should be treated nearly as equal as being martyred). However, all I'm saying is to be cautious and make the best relationships possible so you don't cause us needless trouble.

Of course, thats why our first little trip is over to our sister site, A.A.

I think things will go well there, and hopefully we'll create more board comradrie, but I completely understand your point. For the time, I think, our walkabouts will be over to christian sites, and if things continue to go well, we'll see about other places. Thats a LONG way away however...

We'll be actively doing this from this Saturday till next, and then, we'll see about going somewhere else. I'm looking forward to the discussions on AA though.

I suppose it could bring trolls to us....although I think if we made sure to be polite that would lessen troll attacks.

Would you start a thread there telling what we are doing so we can all introduce ourselves on one page instead of one each? Also, could every body say what username they are using here?
