Your Comical and Serious Anti-drug

Postby San_Hayashi » Sat Jan 06, 2007 8:16 pm

I just saw an '...is my anit-drug' commercial. It made me think about what my anti-drug is, and then made me get to thinking about what other people's anti-drug is and what better than here to ask!

Commical:
The CAA arcade.....almost seriously. I mean...I spend most of my time there, lol. I WANT A TROPHY!

Serious:
My future...I mean I'm only 18, who knows what's going to happen. I need all my braincells!
And God, of course ^^

AWESOME thread!! ^_^

Commical: humm... letshee... I would have to say my drawings... I can't really draw if I can't see straight...

Serious:
Probably a combination of my Relationship with Christ, and my family. I have seen what it does to others...how it breaks people up inside... and I don't want that to happen to my family or my friends. They all mean a lot to me.

My comical would be...um, probably that i don't see any reason to use drugs, and i hope there won't be a need for drugs in my life in the future...

My serious would be...as christian ronin said, my relationship with God, my family, and my friends. i want to be a good influence on my non-christian friends and a good encouragement to my christian friends. i don't want to do anything dumb that would threaten my future or my life...

- Abraham Kuyper

"God the great Creator of all things doth uphold, direct, dispose, and govern all creatures, actions, and things, from the greatest even to the least, by His most wise and holy providence, according to His infallible foreknowledge and the free and immutable counsel of His own will, to the praise of the glory of His wisdom, power, justice, goodness, and mercy."
- Westminister Confession of Faith (Chapter 5, Section 1)

"The wisdom of God has found a way for the love of God to deliver sinners from the wrath of God all the while upholding the righteousness of God!!"
- John Piper

"Grace is the pleasure of God to magnify the worth of God by giving sinners the right and power to delight in God without obscuring the glory of God!"
-John Piper

"The very One from Whom we need to be saved, is the One Who has saved us."
- R.C. Sproul

"All of Christian life is ceaseless worship of God the Father, through the mediatorship of God the Son, by the indwelling power of God the Spirit, doing what God commands in Scripture, not doing what God forbids in Scripture, in culturally contextualized ways, for the furtherance of the Gospel, when both gathered for adoration, and scattered for action, in joyous response to God's glorious grace."
- Mark Driscoll

"Believers do not pray with the view of informing God about things unknown to Him, or of exciting Him to do His duty, or of urging Him as though He were reluctant. On the contrary, they pray in order that they may arouse themselves to seek Him, that they may exercise their faith in meditating on His promises, that they may relieve themselves from their anxieties by pouring them into His bosom; in a word, that they may declare that from Him alone they hope and expect, both for themselves and for others, all good things."
- Martin Luther

"I have to tell you first that I am ready to die. I have put my affairs in order. Your supreme weapon is killing. My supreme weapon is dying, because when you kill me, people all over Romania will read my books and believe on the God that I preach - even more than they do now."
- Dr. Joseph Ton, the exiled Romanian pastor (quoted by James Montgomery Boice)

"The best prayer I ever prayed had enough sin in it to condemn the whole world."

Comical: My hair. At age twenty, I'm already seeing bald spots on a few spots on my head -- who knows how much more hair I'll lose if I start taking drugs...

Serious: Keeping up a positive physical\emotional framework, which is the best I can say regarding the long term effects most drugs can have on your body, as well as your interactions with other people (family, friends, etc).

Comical: Computer games. They cost so freaking much that I don't have money for drugs!

Serious: I lived with a druggie for a few months. I keep reminding myself that if I start taking drugs, I may end up like her...

On my first glance, that is what I saw of your post.

Comical would have to be that I can't afford another addiction. Books take up enough of my time and money.

The serious reason why is that I don't want to. While I'm not proud of my body, neither do I dislike it so much that I would engage in an enterprise with a substantial risk of injuring it just for kicks.

Comical: I'm a total cheapskate, it runs in the family. My grandmother patched the same pair of PJs for several decades, neverminding the fact that she had a buncha new PJs in the closet that she'd gotten on sale at Eatons. Didn't want to waste 'em. I won't even shell out for coffee (and I AM a coffee addict), heaven forbid tracking down drugs 9_9

Serious: Well, beyond the obvious moral and spiritual issues that have already been covered, I'm also very reserved and careful about my behavior. Almost to the point of being a paranoid control freak. I couldn't imagine how I would act on drugs. Basically, when my friends say they'd love to see me drunk I interpret it as 'hey, we wanna laugh at you' or 'whoo! act like an idiot!' >_<

Comic: Cosplay. I've already run my hand under the sewing machine and snipped myself with scissors while 100% sober, I do not want to see myself sewing while high.

Serious: for my own health and dignity.

Comical: it would mess with all the pills I'm already on! XD ;)

Serious: I think smoking is bad enough. I don't want to get into anything addictive, whether it be an anime series or drugs. Man, there are just so many serious reasons why I wouldn't want to get into them. Family... my life... my relationship with God... it could ruin so many things.

Comical: If I take drugs, I can't get a job. If I can't get a job, I can't get a house. If I don't get a house, I can't get a cat. If I can't get a cat, that will make me sad. So I cannot pop, sniff, or snort any drugs if I want another cat.

Seious: A number of reasons, it's morally wrong, it's degenerative to my body, I've seen what pain pills can turn a person into, so anything stronger is very repulsive, plus, I want to be a Christian children's phsycologst, so I can't help anyone if I'm doped up.

Comical: I'm already skinny enough, and many drugs would turn me into a skeleton.

Serious: My future, my mind, and my dignity. Also I'm an Eagle Scout, so the Twelve Scouting Laws are ingrained into my subconscious. (A Scout is: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent.) Taking drugs violates at least 5 of them.

If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things."

Thanks! I'm always just so concerned that I'll start up a thread and get in trouble for...what was the term...gravedigging or something like that? You know, bringing up old posts. And I wasn't sure if this should go here or in goofing off, lol.

Comical: I can't afford drugs, I'm too busy buying anime...

Serious: I can't afford drugs, I'm saving up for my car insurance and college! And my big move to Memphis, AND my Ipod, and my moped, and then theres my computer, and a trip to Japan, and then of course spending money on cute girls....

So yeah, my spending...kinda already invested.

Sorry drugs. :)

Comical [sort of]: I'm enough of an idiot sober.

Serious: I have this thing between my ears. It's grey and wrinkly on the outside, and full of sophisticated organic circuitry. It's not very good at what it does, but it works enough to know a dismally pathetic choice when it sees one.

Comical: Good lord, I get enough of a high off caffeine as it is! If I took drugs I'd explode!

Serious: They're addictive. I don't like being addicted to things (my coffee habit notwithstanding). They burn out your brain. I like my brain...or whatever that thing in my head is. They make you age faster. I don't like the sound of that. They ruin your relationships with your loved ones. I'd prefer my loved ones to stay my loved ones. Are those not reason enough? *shudders*

Besides, I totally dislike pills or anything that reminds me of medication.

Comically - I already have an allergy to smoke, a persistant hack, frequent headaches, am a notorious uber-klutz, and am forgetful all on my own, without the influence of any substances. I don't need to be taking anything that would make me worse, especially on purpose.

Serious - I have a chain-smoking, alcoholic aunt, a cousin who was killed in an alcohol related car-accident, and two grandparents who died from physical problems cause by smoking. That combined with God is a pretty firm anti-drug.

I'm not quite sure I understand what an 'anti-drug' is... something you're not addicted to and make you feel low?
