Also if you have read the end credits to any of the shows that are produced by
VIZ it always seems that the vocal work for them is done by The Ocean Group.
Frankly I don't know why people keep getting VIZ mixed up with Funimation or some of the other production companies in the States, but they some how manage to do so.
btw:Is Vic Mignogna CONTRACTED to Funimation or is he a free lancer?I know I read where Tiffany Grant is a free lancer which is why she can do other than
ADV productions as well as ADV.

No, Viz is based out of California.
Funimation and ADV are the only major anime distributors that have in-house dubbing studios.
Viz (as well as Geneon and Bandai) send all of their properties up to either Ocean Studios in Vancouver or they have a local LA-based studio like Bang Zoom!, PCB, Animaze, Studiopolis, etc. do the dubbing.

Naruto (as well as Zatch Bell and Bleach) was done in LA by Studiopolis.

I'm quite certain Vic Mignogna is free-lance.

Funimation is in Ft. Worth, Texas and ADV is Houston, Texas.

Bandai and Viz has used Ocean Group for dub work. This one one reason why you will see some people voices in both Bandai dubs and Viz's dubs.

I would guess that he is a free lancer, but he mostly work with Funimation and ADV.

He has only done voice work in two animes that were don't dub by Funimation or ADV. One was done by AnimeWorks and the other is Geneon Animation.

Travis Willingham has mostly done Funimation work, but he has done two voice works with Geneon.

Monica Rial and Luci Christian both have done dub work for Fun and ADV.

Aaron Dismuke, Caitlin Glass and Laura Bailey have only done Funimation dub work.

Vic played a minor character in an episode of MAR.

He also additioned for Naruto and Bleach when he went up to LA, but didn't get any roles. Although apparantly he was nearly cast as Orochimaru...

Was mostly posting major roles, but I think this would give poof that he is a free lancer.

One thing that I learn is, Funimation and ADV now mostly has a Right to work as an union status

ChristianRonin: I decided to answer your post after a fair bit of thought. You didn't mention me, but I'm the only person who has been voicing a consistently negative opinion in this thread, so I'll assume it mostly refers to me. Let me also be clear that I'm not attacking you, I'm simply responding.

ChristianRonin wrote:I hope this thread won't turn into Let's Bash Naruto's Voice Actor...is it really that big of a deal? :/

No. But to be honest, almost nothing on this forum is. We're discussing a past time, so that's to be expected. Furthermore, I don't feel I was posting as if it was a big deal either.

ChristianRonin wrote:I really don't see the big deal... and I don't see the point in this thread...it seems that you guys are making fun of this lady...when you really shouldn't be..

When were we making fun of her? I said that I disliked a general trend that includes her but I would never wish to personally attack someone based on my opinion of their work. As for the point of this thread... again, what's the point of any of this? We're a discussion forum, and this is a discussion topic. That seems reasonable to me.

ahh actually I wasn't talking about you in general, UPC.. I was talking about everyone...^^;

and I know that Aaron Dismuke is with Funi I was just citing an example that he is the only one I know that is younger than 20 and does voice actor work (who is male)

I wasn't trying to start anything...but I just feel that this thread is a bit negative... ^^

I guess it was a certain avatar (not even sure whose it was) but it just seemed that they were like making fun of her... I know it's everyone's opinion and that's fine!!

but is it just because she is old and looks it? I mean... mona marshal has been doing male anime voice actors for years! And no one has felt that she needed a thread to talk about it?

I dunno... I am sorry if I offended anyone...I am just kinda sensitive I guess...>3<

There are a few who do American cartoons (Sean Marquette comes to mind), but you're right as far as anime goes.

Well I didn't say where in Texas ADV and Funimation were,I just noted that they were both in Texas. My point was that since VIZ is located in Canada it would be
logistical nightmare to have to have a minor travel back and forth between B.C.
and Texas.Especially if it was done in Winter.
There's also a studio in Calgary. If you watch Banner of the Stars for some reason they decided to do the dubbing in Calgary instead of Vancouver, even though the
Crest dubbing was done in Vancouver.
I forget what the name of the Calgary studio is since I haven't seen Banner in a longish time.
off topic:Because VIZ and The Ocean Group are in Vancouver is probably why
you get people like Richard Ian Cox and Kirby Morrow doing stints every now and
then on Stargate, since Stargate is shot in Vancouver area.

Viz's headquarters is located at: 295 Bay Street, San Francisco, CA 94133

Blue Water Studios is what you are referring to.

Well, I must admit, that it did kinda take me by suprise when I finally saw her picture! I wasn't suprised by the fact she was a woman, I was suprised when I found out how old she was! It literally knocked my socks off.

::shows the socks that were knocked off::

When I saw Mona Marshall's pic for the first time, I was like "Oh, okay. She looks cool. In fact, (in the picture I saw of her), she kinda looks like Izzy in a weird sorta way. "
