Keep yourself safe online! (web link)

(Maybe the staffers will want to move this to Links, but I'm personally hoping they'll move it to Announcements; this is such an important issue that everyone needs to see it. I even cross-posted it as a sticky in Anime Angels' announcements section.)

I recently stumbled across a really good site that has a whole bunch of information on it that talks about how to keep yourself safe online. I have heard too many stories about people doing unwise things online and reaping the consequences of it, and I want to make sure each and every one of you stays safe. Please, go have a look for some good info...

...and if any of you find yourself being troubled at all by another member, please let one of the staffers here know so they can deal with it!

Yep,they have ads now on tv to warn parents to be sure that they know WHO they're kids are talking to online.It is spooky to think that there are people who do go on just in order to prey on younger people of the opposite sex.I think that though that we all need to be careful no matter what our age.Though I think the
ads are targeted more at places like Myspace.

Why? o.O

That video with the little British girl was really well done. It's quite scary what some people do online, and it's sad that more kids don't understand how to protect themselves.
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

Though I approve of the intentions of the site, most of their advice is pretty basic. For example "Some people lie online"... no, it can't be!

I presumed due to the forced use of chat slang.

I watched the video, and I was quite impressed. It was really well done. Though the slang was like... what the crap.

I think the best video every in terms of "crazy online correspondents" would be "the_parlor_dsl" video on youtube.

Quite vulgar though. But quite true.

John Walsh of America's Most Wanted and Julie Clark(e)who co-produced the
Safe Side DVD have a new one out concerning the internet.I just saw the ads
this weekend.It has the same basic info' probably but done in the same basic
Safe Side fun way.
I guess my only question is since the internet has been around so long why are we just now getting around to thinking about safety?
