We have power!!!
*dances* yep, just wanted to celebrate the power coming back on. It was out for 41 hours and only came back less than an hour ago. woot!! yay power!!

Uh... power cuts. >_<
Since I live in the country, they're fairly common here. However, the power company usually deals with them pretty quickly. ^_^
Gah... the weather's been a bit rainy and stormy lately, despite it being Summer over here, so who knows? We may have another power cut sometime soon.
When there's a power cut, generally I revert to doing activities such as drawing or reading until it's too dark to do so without hurting my eyes. Then all that's left to do, really, is sleep.
And since dark clouds usually obscure the sun and darken the place when there's a power cut, we can end up going to bed at annoyingly early times. >_<
However, I guess it's good to get away from the old computer, TV etc and get back to good ol' basics once in a while. Using candles if it's really dark and you need to see to do something... it's pretty novel. ^_^

Wow; that's a long time. I think the longest our power went out for was about 24 hours.

Have you ever thought how if somehow electricity just stopped working for no explained reason we would have no idea how to survive?
I'm keeping my computer on with a bike by pedaling.

Gah this power outage sucked big time! These powerline towers are supposed to nearly indestructable and two of them are demolished from ice and snow here in soutwest Kansas. The only reason I have power is cause my town has a generator. As far as I know, only a few other towns and citys has power.

41 hours? Holy Smokes Doe! How did you survive?
Longest we've had was 18 hours I think. That was tough (no air-conditioning in 38c+) Ouch!

*blinks* not like it matters...but our power just did a weird little break thing...like...the lights dimmed, our fridge went silent and our TV went out, but that was it...odd...

um....i sat around the house being lazy with a blanket over me, making sure to sleep with my mom to steal her body heat. pretty easy as the house wasn't all that cold, although much colder than i would have liked. plus its not like we didn't have food. we just couldn't drive anywhere. we actually watched the pelican brief on my computer one day, so it's not like we didn't have some entertainment.

The interesting thing was the only working Radio Station during much of this time was our Christian Radio Station.. I was up at like 4:30 this mornign when our power went out (I was watching Bleach Marathon) and Then around 6:30 I was listning to my little sis's portable CD player and they were like "Yeah this is pretty severe, it could take 3 to 5 days for this to be resolved. One power company had 3000 thousand Telephone poles snap, and like Kiba said two very strong Towers (a radio tower and a Weather station in OK) (They were like 400 ft right Kiba?) collaspe.
Luckily for my family we had Ranges that we had turned on our stove and a very large window that we tore down our blinds to let sunlight in (It actually got hot for a while lol)

I was without power for close to four days due what was part of a storm from a hurricane a few years ago in the Washington DC area.
The winds were 60 mph or better with rain. A 70 foot 3 foot diameter poplar tree fell across my backyard trapping my family's cars in the backyard. So I was late getting to work because I tried to cut up the tree to get my pickup truck out, but I ended up having a neighbor take me because it was taking to long.
Right after the tree fell over the power went out around 10 PM Thursday evening and didn't come back on until Sunday afternoon while I was at my anime club meeting.
I got had alot of problems from my bosses for being late to work and had to explain in a letter with photos for being late and had to get letters from neighbors and friends who had come over to help open up our driveway for our vehicles.
I was going to work Saturday and the boss of the operation where I worked sent me home to get back at me for being late the day before.
I just learn he is getting replace by another person because of the change of governors. He was forced from where I worked because he was changed with harassment against a female employee. He got a job through the governor because they were friends.

PUD still hasn't done anything about putting the power line back up to our house in the country since the wind storm brought down a tree back in November that severed the line in the first place.This is probably because no-one lives there full time so that they're taking their good ol' time in doing it.And now that the line is covered with snow it will probably be a few more months before they even get around to inspecting it.

Yep, we're doing good. At least...I think we are...I dunno...last I knew my area was pretty cleared up and with power, but I think it snowed there today. *not anywhere near Kansas* Some good news - my cousins down around the corner of Oklahoma, Colorado and New Mexico (I really don't know which state they live in...you can see all of them from their house...) had 3 feet of snow with that first power outage storm and they only lost 1 cow and 1 calf.
But I do have to say, the storms all in a row were annoying even though most of them weren't bad around my area. My skin looks horrible from all of this weather! I swear I should be able to peel a layer of skin off of my hand...wouldn't like to try it though.

I live about 2 hours from doughy, we are all doing pretty okay, thought last week I heard that there were still 5,000 people in ourarea without power..O_o;
Umm we did get about 8-10 inches of snow this weekend ^_^

Yah a lot of the towns that were hit hard around here such as Holdredge are finnally getting back on the Grid. Fortunatly the town I live in just got new power lines this year so we never lost our power although we did lose half a forest worth of limbs.

Well Washington DC just had its first snow of the year Sunday. One inch with freezing rain on top of it. To the people here its like having a major snow storm because they can't drive in it.
ACCIDENTS, ACCIDENTS, ACCIDENTS, RIGHT and LEFT, starting at one pm. They drive too fast and don't know what safe driving is.
I was almost late getting to work (Public Works and Transportation) because of the backup on the road to work. Live eight miles from work and takes about 20 min. getting there. I got there just on the time to be on the clock. Had to be there by 3:30 PM. Worked twelve hours and had to clean off my pickup truck to get home and home by 4:30 AM.
I learned about safe driving through the volunteer fire dept because we have to have refresher driving classes every year. Plus served on a driver safety committee a few years ago.
