Best Christmas Present Ever?

Postby rocklobster » Fri Dec 29, 2006 5:40 am

What was the best Christmas present you ever received? For me, it'd be either a boxed set of the entire Chronicles of Narnia or A Book of Angels by Sophy Burnham. This book gives you her reflections on angels and angelic encounters. I must warn you though, the book does tend to treat all religions as the same. But when you consider the fact that nearly every religion has angels (or at least something similar to them) in it, it's a small flaw. It's a very enlightening read.

I dunno. I've gotten so many cool presents. I think the best though was the money and gift cards that are helping me to get my Nintendo DS. Either that or my Advent Children Pillow. ;)

Well, I could say Jesus, but that'd be sort of a cop-out answer, so . . . my guitars [ a black BC Rich Warlock electric, Taylor acoustic, and this year, a Dean Metalman bass].

Two years ago I got my first guitar. That's the best present I've ever received; I almost jumped through the ceiling when I saw it.

Probably when I got my hedgehog^^ I was really into Sonic games at the time and was all like "that would be SO cool if I owned a real hedgehog!" and by time Christmas came, here was this living breathing hedgehog in a pen by the tree...

In my world, we call that the "churchy answer". XD

As for me... Probably the Wii (And LoZ: Twilight Princess) I got this Christmas. But I dunno... There've been some good ones.

The simplest way that I can understand therapy is that we're born a certain way, we're taught to be something different, and we spend our whole lives trying to unravel it and ultimately align ourselves with who we really are. Life, experiences, traumas -- whatever -- they all add up to make you some altered version of what you are. So there's this battle that goes on between what you are and what you become, and it's been very important for me to unravel what I was taught to be or what I became. and to draw a direct parallel to music -- the closer I get back to being who I really am, the stronger the music gets..." --Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins frontman)

I tend to think of my oldest son and my oldest daughter as the best Christmas presents I ever received.

that's almost as bad as the churchy answer, but I'll let it go, hisashi fan.

I remember when I got my Playstation for Christmas. It was my second console and I remember how funny the controls felt(it was nuthin like the gun for Duck Hunt... Stupid dog) but it got me into gaming. I think that comes in a close second for me. ;)

The best Christmas present I ever got was probably the N64 Osaka and I got way back when they were first released. I remember I didn't even know what it was when we got it, I just acted really excited because Osaka was excited (she was the one who asked for it. I'd not paid much attention to commercials that year apparently.) But all of my current favorite video games were games made for that system. My siblings and I have 5 game systems collectively, all the others newer systems, but I'd say that 90% of the time I spend playing video games is spent on the good old N64.
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
