Alternate Thread... What did you give for Christmas?

Postby Mr. SmartyPants » Mon Dec 25, 2006 11:05 am

Since Christmas is all about giving, instead of receiving *looks at CR-chan* haha I'm just kidding. I think it would be a cool idea to share what you gave for people for Christmas.

Dad: Guinness golf pins I bought way back in the summer from N. Ireland
Mom: Gift card to Macys
Sister: Gift basket from Bath and Body Works
Brother-in-law: 2 DVDs: Shaun of the Dead and Three Extremes.
Linksquest: Me and Peanut did a halfsie and bought Linksquest a "Celtic Journal" from Northern Ireland last summer, and we got him that.
Meboeck: I gave him my old work time-card that's eligible for a free wii-accessory 20 dollars or under whenever I say he can redeem it. (Because they are all SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE)
Peanut: Final Fantasy 4 Advance

Other Friends
-I got one friend of mine a DVD of the Korean movie Joint Security Area (Thank Goodness he liked it XD He saw two previous Korean movies and hated them, so he decided all Korean movies suck)
-Volume 1 of D.gray-man and Black Cat for another friend. I also wrapped her copy of Chrno Crusade volume 8 and pretended that I lost it.
-I got 3 of my friends (siblings) Steamboy
-ATB: Seven Years CD for another.

:B Yay for giving the joy of D.Gure. XD;

For my family collective, I got a box of cookies. We have an unspoken agreement in my family not to do too much for each other. XD All our presents usually come from relatives.

For friends:
- made fudge for everyone
- D.Gray-man doujinshi
- little stuffed Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicle plushies
- Saiyuki DVD
- dollie boots, to go with a dollie outfit I'm going to sew.

x3 I love shopping for my friends.

Nice idea, MSP.

Parents: a donation to Heifer International.
Brother: he specifically asked to not be given anything, so I didn't buy anything, but we did watch Labyrinth together as a family.

Friends: A kunai. A CD of Legend of Zelda music from various games. A stuffed penguin. My Neighbor Totoro coin purse and cell phone accessory. This seems like a very eccentric list . . . and, well, it is.

Well, my friends and I drew names this year (it made it easier on all of us financially XD). I got my friend a 15$ Books-A-Million giftcard, and I gave her this pair of shoes that she had seen at my house earlier and loved (long story--she really wanted those shoes, though. XD). I got a 15$ iTunes card for my brother. Yes, I only had 30$ to spend on Christmas gifts this year. XD

...I need a job. XD

My family's not big on gifts, we usually don't buy things for each other during Christmas or birthdays, but we do have a bigger meal together.

For my fiance, I got her a Carte Blanche water globe.

I helped to choose a lot of the gifts for my family...but what did I personally give?

Friend: CD and large CD case
Friend: Skirt, shirt, devotional book, pillow

Yeah, my budget and resources are not much...although with the last one i even had to have help.

W4J, I am very curious as to what a Pineapple Bramiliade plant/flower is.
Do they only grow in Australia?

The best present I gave this year was a musical jewelry box for my sister... because she liked it so much and has been wanting one for awhile, but seemed completely surprised by it.

Alice,

Pineapple bromeliad's are of South American origin but are becoming particularly popular in Australia (recently). They don't only grow in Australia. I don't know much about them. They need watering every 4 days (roughly) and they produce little pineapple fruit (not edible but it looks awesome). You can have it in the office, outside, inside - wherever you want!

The main gifts that I gave were giant collage picture frames filled with family pictures. I gave one to my parents, one to my grandparents, and one to my sister. It took me years to fill those kinds of frames with mostly pictures that I personally photographed, but my family loved it.

Of course, my sister thought I had bought her a plasma TV when she first saw the package. :eyeroll:

Mom: Sears Gift Card and Bath and Body stuff.
Sister: Bath and Body Stuff.

I was gonna buy my friend Josh (known on CAA as Monkey J. Luffy), a copy of some imported Naruto game we saw at Best Buy for the DS (It was a fighting game. I saw japanese characters and the number '4' next to it, so maybe MSP could stab at that).

I gave a rock.

It was a laminated rock from Vietnam with two fish hand-painted on it. It was bought through the organization 10,000 Villages that supports third-world craftsmen and women through the sale of their handarts. I gave it to my parents.
