What kind of tree do you use?
We use artificial, but for most of my life, we had real ones.

Real trees leave such a mess of pine needle all over the carpet. I prefer the artifical Christmas trees.

We've always had real. Though for a while we thought we'd have to switch because we were becoming convinced some of us were allergic to the real ones.

We've had both in the past, but I voted "artificial" because that's what we have now. XD

Fake. We used to have real back in the day, but these you don't have to water^^ ....they just leave your arms scratches up a bit if you're not wearing sleeves :/ And I like how you can stick heavier decorations on them.

I love the scent of a real tree, but unfortunately it becomes such a mess when the needles drop down... That's why we usually use an artificial one.

We tend to go for a real tree. Artificial ones are neat and less messy, but I love the smell of a real pine, and going out to choose it.

(Even though I still need to go out and get our family one this year. Can't believe I left it so late @_@ ).

My family's Christmas tree is always artificial. I don't really mind if the tree is real or a fake at all, it's just good to have a green giant plant with lights in our living room.

Our family always gets real pine trees. They aren't as hard to find in Australia as you would think. Ofcourse you still have to pay for them.

I accidentally voted for artificial(I thought it was what kind of tree do you HAVE), but I love real trees. I love the smell. We've had an artificial for years and I like it enough, but I miss having pines.

I'll take a real tree with the scent, authentic look and sentimentality over fakeness. Plus, it's pretty fun to go Christmas tree hunting.

Yeah, as long as you don't wind up doing what the Griswolds did in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

Real all the way. No matter how good a fake tree looks it's still fake. Most fake trees I've seen look pretty tacky too. Plus that pine smell that comes with a real tree is just awesome. The tree my parents got before I came home hardly loses any needles as it is and only needs to be watered once a day.

Real pine trees are flammable.

And not everyone can afford to buy a brand new Christmas tree every year.

And since when has Christmas sentiments have had anything to do with whether a tree is real or not? I, for one, don't think it's that big of a deal.

...that looks depressing for some reason...

Anywho, I'm a real tree purist. Never brought a fakey in my house yet. I adore the smell and the needles never bothered me since the floor is tile anyway.

I personally love artificial, they're a no mess solution to real trees, you buy one and you have a tree for years and years, and the best part is many of them come pre-lighted...

Also, if you want the pine scent, just get a scented candle ;)

Real; it just wouldn't be the same if we didn't freeze our noses off looking through the left over trees in the clearence area at our local grocery store. Not to mention trying to tie it to the van without any of that handy plastic netting. Plus taking it home and lopping of the few branches that keep it from fitting in the stand, and cutting of an inch of the trunk so it will drink better (maybe even shedding a few drops of blood). And then there's the vacuming every few days, and trying to remember to water it so no fires erupt at odd hours.

I admit, the tree would be nicer looking if it was artificial. It would be taller and fuller, not to mention a lot less work. All the same, I just can't attach myself to plastic. I don't mind people choosing them, I just would never be able to own one myself.

Artificial
1) Not as messy
2) Why take down a tree when you don't have to?
3) Possibly more economical (on a long term basis)
4) Pine scented stuff/sprays are available
5) Nicer looking as mentioned (taller/fuller)
6) Christmas isn't really about trees

....and most importantly, my country does not even have the luxury of Christmas trees growing on our soil.
