Names

Postby Doubleshadow » Sat Dec 09, 2006 3:18 pm

Anyone know someone with a funny name? I went to school with a girl whose name was Misty Dawn, and there was a girl who graduated just before I started high school named Stormy Tuesday. When my aunt and uncle, whose name is Newhouse, said they were going to have a girl, my one cousin said they should name her Anita. One of my great-aunts married one of grandfathers relatives, whose name was Moles, for her second marriage. Her first husbands name was Hill, so if she'd married them in reverse order, her name would have been Moles-Hill.

Anyone else?

Well, I don't actually know them, but a friend of mine says a family in his hometown all had names like Dusty Trail, Sandy Trail, and other types of trails that I don't remember.

I know a guy named Au Dang. It's pronounced, "oh dang."

I also knew a guy named Scott Scott, but others usually just called him Scotty Scott.

My teacher claims to have had students named Devious and Placenta. *shudders*

I knew a guy named Aleron. Sounds like an elf to me, indeed I was inspired to make a number of RPG characters with that name because I thought it worked so well...

Hm; odd topic. Only two names come to mind, but they are from international students I know whose parents decided to choose exotic/foreign names that are no longer so exotic or foreign now that they're studying in the US. The names in particular are "Moon" and "Bethlehem." The latter happens to be seasonal.

I know of a couple of names that come to mind. XD

First off, there's Lemonjello and Orangello. That's pronounced LeMAHNjuhlow and ORAHNjuhlow. XD Notice how it's actually Lemon jell-o and Orange jell-o. XD

Another one is Sam Hill. XD I always got a kick out of that one. XD

Another is Dr. Chewning, who does oral surgery. Chew. Teeth. Haha~

Another is Dr. Gause, who is a surgeon. Gause/Gauss (you know, the stuff you wrap wounds with...XD).

I know of a few more, but nothing's coming to mind. XD

On The Tonight Show they will have wedding announcements sent in for the catchy news items and sometimes you get some good mix of names there.
Here's something on names. A plumbing company run by the Flood family.

I've known some kids named Fenway Park and Arlington...which always made all the preschool workers wonder. I mean really, naming your kid Fenway Park is like naming him "honeymoon souvenir."

i knew this girl named Female (fem-al-e). Her mother (i think) was from a different country, so when she heard the doctor say it was a girl, i guess that's the name she chose.

My friend knows a family whose last name is Hogg. Upon marriage, the mother's name became Sally Aida Hogg, so she legally changed her middle name to her maiden name so people would stop making jokes about it.

I've had some aptly named teachers at school - Mr Staples and Mrs Wood in art, and Mrs Silk for sewing class.

My brother had some friends called Blue Day- and some of them had terrible, terrible names, such that I'm not going to put two of them up here. Poor, poor kids. I had a friend at school called Purple Tang, too. ^^" She was awesome but that's a tough name to live with.

Oh, and lest I forget, there was a Nam Park, too. Everyone used to call him his name backwards.

With a name like that they could make a great living advertising fur products.

(Imagines it)
"Hi. My Names Tanner Fox, and I'm here today to..."
"-yes. Really. My name really is Tanner Fox and Fox Tanner Hides really are the best in..."
"Listen kids, if you don't stop making fun of my name I'm going to Tanner your hides until you never again dare to laugh at my name again!! Haha! Tanner your hides! Get it? Get it?!"
(Stops imagining)

Ah, I've thought of another one. There's an author by the name of Dutch Sheets. I'm not sure what his parents were thinking. If you have a last name like "Sheets" you want to give your children names like "Bob" and "Jane".
