What one quality immediately attracts you to someone of the opposite gender?

Talk about anything in here.

KINDNESS

That is a quality that contributes hugely to making a person of the opposite gender attractive to me. This isn't in the sense that "Oh this person was nice to me, therefore they must fancy me" -- it is just that when I see a man who is kind and performs kind acts it really increases my admiration for him.

It's been great to read what other people think, too - I agree that initial impressions can be deceiving -- but I don't see much of an alternative. As someone said before, thats why it takes time to trust people. But if a person has sincerity and integrity, chances are that you'll catch some of that in the initial impressions, even if he or she is having a bad day. :)

Ah but I already have a second. --PSoph! (Bad joke, I know).

In the end, despite the fact that there are disappointments in relationships and attraction, there are a lot of good people out in the world, too. By all means I'm going to be careful about acting on initial attractions, but I'm optimistic about people. I'm not going to rush into relationships, but I know there are good people out there.

I guess it sort of depends. ^^ Like someone else said, a person's personality, etc. can really add to or take away from the initial impression of attraction.

I wouldn't say I have one "type" of guy I always am attracted to. It really depends. : ) When I was a teen, I had a crush on Sean Connery -- and other older actor dudes, like Tommy Lee Jones. But I think guys closer to my age can be really attractive, too.

I think I'm attracted to guys who look smart of a little unusual. Of course, I probably notice drop-dead gorgeous guys about as much as the next girl, but it doesn't really mean anything. I mean, I wouldn't base anything on "wow, he's cute." xD

A guy with long, shoulder length blonde hair. The last guy I dated had hair like that, and the guy I now have a crush on has the same style *is to shy to ask him out*. But other than physical attractions I really do like a guy that makes me laugh, and is caring...I just discribed Daniel darn it! *bashes head on desk*. Oww...

A bit cliche but eyes are the very first thing I notice. You can tell a lot about someone by their eyes. Whether they are joyful, sad, lying etc. I really especially love when lights twinkle off their eyes. It's so cute!

Secondly, a nice smile and personality. I have to be able to carry out a conversation- deeper philosophical ones at time too.

Well, it would appear I am out of luck so far as the attraction on bubbly guys go. It would seem that a vast majority of girls look for guys who are happy and cheerful, when I am quite the opposite. Heh, I'm more of the solemn-loner type than anything. Not that I mind it; being with someone would confuse me, but it does not stop me from being attracted.

I know for a fact that independent brainy geeky guys exist, because I have one of my own. Mwahaha!

Let's see. I, like many other girls, am a sucker for a pretty face. But I usually just take a look at the pretty face, admire it, and end up really being attracted to a guy who isn't as pretty, but instead is friendly, kind, intelligent and witty. Someone I can talk to and be myself around and who shares similar interests with me.

Although...pretty eyes are a great bonus feature. X3

And judging from my track record, apparently guys that like anime and speak Japanese is a big plus to attractiveness. O_o

Edit: Oh, I forgot to add that I like a guy who dresses nice. 'Cause every girl's crazy 'bout a sharp-dressed man.

I tend to initially find someone attractive by what they are wearing and what they are currently doing. It's strange, but I've found that those two things can tell me alot about the person's personality.

personally, Im like an attitude!
the first time I met my wife she dropped kicked me!
(well, I was trying to see what she was drawing and a rolled over a table trying to do it. as I was falling towards the floor, she kicked me(note that I am still falling and my feet are still off the ground) right in the &*^%$$!!) my voice never went so high.
and now, were inseperable.
why? because her and I are one and the same. we have attitudes. and we love eachother to the point that we'd chose eachother over the whole world.

and when I was in high school I had a crush on Shannen Doherty.
I don't know, girls who are strong and mysterious.

there isn't really a trait that you can SEE in girl that is a key factor.
by all means, if your looking for your soulmate. look at the girl who is capable of being your best friend. because thats what your ultimately going to want.

I'll back the others up on the need for guys to dress reasonably well. It speaks volumes on how serious you are about your appearance, personal presentation, overall seriousness about life and maturity. 'Holy, Holy, Holy' should be the title of the hymn you are signing, not a description of the jeans you wore to service.

ha! I'm totally right :thumb:

But anyways, when I was referring to initial attraction, I really *WAS* referring to initial attraction. Seriously. Aside from the slick, charming, smarmy guys that first catch your eye, which I don't count in the slightest, I really am not attracted to a guy unless I catch the quality of being smarter than me in him. Then all of sudden I'm like, 'oh! you're a guy! uh......*blush*'. Other than that, I think guys should have short hair. Yes, it is true. And I'm initially attracted to guys who I find are somewhat on the outside of the group and introverted. I know they exist -- I find them! No more challenging my attractions! haha

Dude look like a lady! lol
i think most people are most attracted to looks at first, no matter what, but that doesnt mean theyre shallow. for example, guys, youre in a place where there are lots of people, maybe a bar would work best in this example, and you see two girls. one is more attractive to you than the other. who will you probably go up to first? the more attractive one, its human nature. but theres nothing wrong with that as long as you dont base your entire opinion of a peron on looks.

Cute face + short hair is something that catches my eye.
Figure isn't terribly important. I find I'm quite attracted to girls that are overweight (not extremely so, but chubby doesn't bug me) IF they have a cheerful disposition -- especially if they have a cute face. It bugs me to no end how much girls obsess over weight, and it's probably just my own personal experiences, but I find girls who are overweight tend to be very depressed individuals. A girl who is cheerful despite her weight is worth her own weight in gold.

However beyond any and all of that -- what really gets me looking at a girl is braided hair -- and longer = better. As long as there's nothing outright revolting about a girl, if she has long, braided hair, I'm all for her.

And then that whole personality bit kicks in and I realize none of that matters too much. :D
Embraced by a gentle breeze, my heart breaks as I think of you.
All alone at the top of the hill, I watch as the seasons go by.
