So who else has been caught by this freak snow? I call it "freak" because lately (at least up here in BC) we've had the most unnatural and unpredictable weather^^ Not to say it wasn't predicted in the forecast beforehand or anything, but it's just... something we aren't used to^^ I mean, already posted those pics of our flood 2 weeks back and storms like that we NEVER get!

As for snow, we usually get hit around January, if at all :/ Some years are worse than others and last year, think we onyl got a coupel days of snow (and one snow day) and that was about it. But lately, it's been snowing on/off for the past few days. And when it's not snowing, it's icy >_< We like, NEVER freeze that bad but wow the roads have been slippery (and stuff are, but now fluffy snow is covering the ice underneath) and yeah...

So anyone been hit by the snow yet, or in my case, a freak weather-thingie?

It was 25 at my parents house last night. Our area is around ten to twenty degrees under average temperature right now. It snowed in the local mountains a little too, and apparantly the ski resorts are making snow.

Yeah,we've been having snow in eastern Washington as well.Usually starts either right after Halloween or right around Thanksgiving so it was pretty much on schedule.Though we could do with a bit more warmth.

Strange how opposite it is, knowing I'm just a little more northern in BC. That's why I have my location as "the great non-white north" but I guess I should change that^^ Then again, Van Island hangs down a little bit past the border and all, but still. If I lived in Northern BC though, oh boy it would be bad up there! Already heard stories of how cold and stuff it is up there already >_<

I saw you guys getting quite a bit of snow during the Monday night football game. Unfortunately it didn't last past half-time. (I like football games in the snow, like the Oakland vs. New England game in the 2001 playoffs.)

Anyways, suprisingly Jacksonville, Florida got a little bit of snow one...... Friday I believe. It only lasted for about 2 hours, but it was snow none the less. WOOOOO!!! GO SNOW!!!!

The only way it could possibly be a freak snow is if it snowed where I live.

Otherwise, I am unimpressed. :P

It's 21 degrees celcius today -- I love having Christmas in summer. But I do hope those of you in winter enjoy the snow for the holiday.

I did an eight hour tramp between two mountains a few weeks ago and found snow there which was awesome. Had my first decent snowball fight since I don't get snow where I live. ^_^ I hope you guys have as much fun with the snow, too.

Do you? Do you really?

As much as I love snow and it's prettyness and quietness (which makes it neat^^) it sure isn't fun to drive around in :/ Specially with all the ice, and then classes cancelled so you're behind with taking notes and know what's going on and so on.

...still hasn't stopped here and appears to be getting thicker. :/ Probably no classes tomorrow either v_v... Heh in high school it's like, not a big deal and not even so much for college (I'm in a community college, which hardly even counts^^) but I take advantage of my note taking and all. Well, guess I gotta do what I can at home.

Snow? The heck is this SNOW you speak of?

: : lives in South Florida, where it snowed once and it was less than an inch ~ and it wasn't during my lifetime : :

Actually, I know what snow is, having been to Colorado to go skiing and had a white Christmas in Indiana a couple of years ago.

I wish I had snow...but unfortunately it is a rarity where I live, given the warm ocean climate. My family (and co-workers) think I'm crazy for missing the winter, but I like snow. In fact I'm planning on using my few vacation days (outside of going home for Christmas) to visit somewhere with snow...like an odd version of most people's vacations to warmer climates.

I really couldn't imagine being in a permanently warm climate all year round... Reminds me on Home Alone 2 when they made jokes about having palm trees for a Christmas tree... It just wouldn't be the same...

We've had snow for quite a while off and on already this year. Early November was really warm, but we're having a cold snap right now, which usually doesn't happen until January. As I type, the temperature outside is -2 deg F, and there is a good 9 or so inches of snow on the ground. Thankfully, the next couple of days are supposed to be warmer, but we're supposed to get more snow by the weekend.

I go to school in one of the ski capitals of Montana, mountains in all directions around the town. There is a possibility of snowfall for around 8 months out of the year.

Did I mention that I hate snow and cold? haha. Everyone has been teasing me because I bundle up like an Eskimo.

-2 deg F?!?!?!? If I knew how to spell F I'd give type it out in big capital letters with a ton of exclamation marks but I'm afraid I can only spell celcius lol. :red:

No wonder you bundle up to go outside...!

Too bad I can't donate some of Alberta's snow to the CAAers in warmer climates. It always snows in time for Halloween and it goes downhill from there. Oddly enough Christmas isn't always snowy, but it's usually pretty cold. Yesterday morning it was -30 celcius outside with a windchill pushing it down to -40. Makes 0 seem downright balmy. Over the last few decades we've gotten freak snowfalls every single month of the year (even July and August) and I once built a free standing snow polar bear that came up to my waist, and we've lost my spaniel in the snow a few times. She just dives in and ends up buried O_O

The moral of the story is; don't ask an Albertan about winter because they'll start ranting. The other provinces get it pretty bad too though, especially Ontario with it's ice storms.

We only get about 12" of snow all year, usually as several sets of 2-3" snows. Then, it gets just warm enough to melt it, or else it goes down to 10F and it just dries out. So it's the rare year that we can do the full rolling the ball in the snow to make a snowman thing. Last year was, however, a good one.

We also get quite a bit of freezing rain and ice. THAT I could do without. Since I have allergies, I do look forward to the first freeze, since that usually means I get to be uncongested for several months. Now if I could just get people to quit burning their leaves...

*nods* I'm not surprised, I hear tons of stories. Already Edmontonians are up to their knees in snow, apparently. :/ I don't think I'd ever be able to live in such a wintery place^^ It really is how they depicted it in Cool Runnings^^

I love the snow. However, I am grateful that I don't have to live in it for several months. I'd get tired of it real quick. I suppose that there is at least one advantage to living in the seasonless southern California.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Please do not take any of Mechana[whatziznumber] anecdotes about the weather as anything typically Californian. He is an extremist nutbag who lives in the mountains. True Californians like their altitudes low, their surf high, their climates stable [and roughly equivalent to room temperature] their highways congested and their politics utterly absurd and riddled with corruption. That is all.
