People on the Board you Admire

Postby Haibane Shadsie » Sun Feb 22, 2004 4:56 pm

Just various people on the board you admire or like for whatever reason. They can be good reasons, they can be silly reasons.

~Random People I Admire~

Anyone who stands up for "The Second Renaissance" segments of "The Animatrix". Second Ren Part II is seriously my favorite of the "visions" on the DVD, and I feel so ALONE in liking it. So many people were overawed by the violence in it that they seem to fail to see/appreciate the good story. Yeah, it was hyper-violent, but war is not pretty, so I actually liked that aspect, too. I admire the people on the board who stand up for it against it being called "trash," because it takes guts to do so. Heck, those segements of The Animatrix take some guts to watch in the first place...

LorentzForce because he has Rei from Evangelion as his avatar. When I first came here, I was seriously surprised to find even one fellow NGE fan on a Christian board. Though the topic itself is off-limits... well, I've always thought he had guts to have an NGE avatar here. Kind goes against the overall grain. Hey, he's a fanboy and is proud. I admire that.

Shatterheart, because he has a strong personality. I've been kind of getting to know him a little bit in PMs (because I've been getting myself in trouble)... but yeah, I really admire him. He has strong convictions and just.. a strong, in control personality. At least that's the way he comes across to me - someone with a lot of self-dicipline. Now, I tend to grate on strong personalities, and fear them, until I get to really know them and they me... then, often times, friendship will happen. I don't know if it will be the case with me and Shatter ever, but yeah... not being a very strong person myself, I respect people with strong personas, and am even jealous of them.

Wiggins. I love this guy! He's so concerned with doing the right thing and being right with the Lord. It's very encouraging. I read his posts, and some of the fears that he has were my own once, and some still are... It's wonderful how committed he is and how concerned he is with doing the right thing and walking right with the Lord. In my own life, I think lately, that I've grown very numb about such things - it's beautiful and encouraging to see someone who is enthusastic and as concerned with doing the right thing in everything as he is.

Straylight/Noz. He's a really cool mod and seems to provide a balance among the Administration. He also did that cool, warm fuzzy "Favorite Member" topic that made everyone feel special. That was just cool.

Cephas. He's a fun writer and has a great sense of humor.

Kokhiri Sojourn. She likes things that I like! Haibane Renmei and C.S. Lewis fiction! And she posts about it! Yay!

Inkhana. Cool artist who likes cats.

Gypsy. Her sig provides us with countless hours of entertainment. Long live the Azumanga Daioh love.

true_noir_chole. She has an understanding of those of us who suffer from depression and mental problems that few do. She seems to geniunely care and want to help. She also displays a certain wisdom in every post she makes. She's really great.

BobtheDuck. as I've said in an earlier thread... Ducks and people named Bob are cool. He also just seems very even-tempered and truthful in all of his posts.

Technomancer. Educated intellectual - on a board for Chrisitans and anime lovers. He's got to be a rarity. All his posts are so... utterly intelligent. It's so cool. I'd never want to get into any kind of intellectual argument with him, because I know I'd loose.

I haven't been here long, but I hold a degree of admiration for each and every member of this board. As a whole, this board is so respectful (hopefully so too, we're supposed to be a light upon the hill~ ^^). When I first joined I was afraid that people would either be "I'm holier than thou art" or Christian only in word and not in deed. Luckily I was quite wrong. The maturity levels here, especially among the younger members, are wonderful as well. I have yet to find another place on the net like this. ^^

Well, it is only one for me, since I am rather new.

Ashley: To be honest, I was a guest roaming these boards for a few weeks. I was particularly interested in reading her posts since she is basically the boss of this site. She has impressed me with her leadership and management skills. It is a rare sight for me to see a young woman at her age to possess such skills. The only other woman I have seen to have such skills is my mother. (Note: for me to associate a woman in some way to my mother is one of my highest compliments.) If she had not run this site like she did (and still does), I would not have joined and registered.

Of course, she does have a flaw.... As a fellow Christian brother, I feel it is my duty to relieve Ashley from her long case of math angst.

*gives a warm grin....*
Find me on Steam, PlayStation Network (OmegaAmen), Backloggery, Twitter, and Twitch.tv

Gooooood luck. *laughs* O brave warrior, should I tell you of the many who came before you with that same goal and failed miserably? I am content to be angsty with math.

aww ;_; thanks for mentioning me. and yes, i'm proud of being one of Rei Fanboys of CAA. there should be a few more, just that they don't use Rei avatars, AFAIK.

hmm, now i must choose someone else who i admire...

All the mods and admins: They do a very neat job in managing this forum, where it has potential to... should i say... 'explode', due to its 'theme'. And it seems even until now it has been kept very clean. They're like garbos who work at 3am, cleaning the streets; people who work hard, even if it's a dirty job, they love it and everyone should respect them for what they do.

Technomancer: The wise man of the board. As far as I can remember, none of his posts have been stupid; all intellegent. And he has more posts than me. Shows you how much intellegence he has.

Everyone who wants to become a part in game industry: They may or may not know that getting in the industry's mainstream is like grabbing a star from a clear night-sky, but they are doing their best. As a person myself who are to become a programmer, they should be congratulated. UC, Bobtheduck and Volt comes to mind, and there are handful more which my sucky brain just cannot recall their names from its top. Curse the top of my brain...

This brings me to the people I admire...members who understand the issues that the site faces...I have never been on a board where everyone is so good about problems...in the past..trolls have posted like porno links or pics...every time I can remember as soon as I got online I had a PM with a link or somthing...the members here are very helpful and understanding. I have never heard a complaint that an issue was not dealt with soon enough...as we try to deal with porn posters and such ASAP. So yeah, I admire the members here for being understanding...now everyone understand my hunger...and send me candy and peach rings....;)

Thank you, tell ya what...there is one way to get to know me and get friendly real quick...buy me some peach rings...I am tellin ya...quickest way to a mans heart is his stomach ;) Hmm...

Dang, stop bringing up peach rings. It makes we want to jump in my car and find some. Mmmm peach rings.
Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn't fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go. But it's comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you're very lucky, a plane ride away.

We've had threads like this before, so I'm not going to bother stating those here again. Like Cephas, I think I'll just say that I admire many people on these boards, and don't won't to leave anyone out.

But let me highlight a specific group. I admire those older adults (defined as 30+) on these boards. They don't often have many posts, and some have drifted somewhat, but they're still a part of the organization. I remember WhiteAngel, an older member I haven't seen in a long time.

Lol. Yeah, I haven't really made many friends on here either. I dont PM very much you see so I don't know many of the members very well. I have got a vague idea of the members I do like though.

The members that stand out to me are:

Ashley - Mainly because I PMed her asking why some people on here don't like NGE (this was when I first joined). She was very honest and mature in her reply and I was quite impressed and so have looked up to her ever since. Plus she is very polite when setting rules and organising stuff.

cbwing0 - This guy always sets up cool threads and repys to threads, plus I like his character in the 'Dark Before Dawn Thread' :thumb:

Straylight - Hes the only other English guy I've seen on here and hes pretty cool.

I also like everyone else I've met so far on the CAA. You guys rule!

Thanks for the common interest, Shadsie, and you're quite cool yourself. I think it is great that you post honestly and aren't afraid of being yourself here. Of course, Haibane Renmei is one of the best series in anime, so that's another thing.

Also, a few people that I think are great are:

I'm going to bypass the wonderful mods/admins. We all know we love them, and they know we love them, so yeah for the all the work and leadership they do here. They're mods/admins for a reason, and I know that they wouldn't just ask any joe with an anime dvd lying around. I guess I didn't bypass...

Lluvia - From what I've seen, Lluvia is awesome. Way to post about something like the moon and being a Christian witness here.

Wiggins - I think that regardless of all the struggling wigigns goes through, I'm certain he will come out gold in the end. I know that he's stronger than he thinks in Christ. Thanks for the honesty and listening to us all and our differing takes on everything.

Lobsterbucket - I know he hasn't posted a ton, but he's a musician, and has megaman as his avatar. How cool is that?! And it's the megaman from Nintendo, not the new Tv show!

Michael - I admire the maturity of Michael in his theology and dealing with differences of doctrine with the others here. He's also very concise in his posts, and gets to the point - something in which I could use a lot of work.

I think Cephas and cbwing are both great members. Lots of posts, and all interesting to read. They create great threads as well.

kirakira - Thanks for praying for me in the circle like nearly every time I'm there. It is much appreciated.

Smanbeyond - For having one of the best who's who threads (matching up with mine) and for having great taste. Hope you become a regular here!

All the other faithfuls - Eirewolf, True_noir_chloe, spiritsword, Chris, nia_chan, Zip, Vash, yeah, all of you guys. Each for their own reason.

I guess that's it.

Theres a TV show?!?! I'm a complete Megaman Addict! What channel is this show on?

And back on topic...I really like centres focus aswell, I know hes only listed as making 2 posts but that is because he posts in the RPG section and I respect him for the time and effort he has put into making 'The Dark Before Dawn' work. Thanx centres!

To Kokhiri Sojourn: I'm so sorry for getting your gender wrong all this time! I guess I kept forgetting to look at the little gender icon! Your Rakka avatar threw me off, I guess.

I know! You should get an avatar of Hiyako! (I know, I'm probably spelling his name wrong). Heh, or Washi the Communicator. Washi is cool.

But, Rakka is cool, too.

No problem, Haibane Shadsie. I actually got Rakka because I don't know how to make the things, and Hiyako is quite impossible to find in avatar form. Maybe I'll figure it out someday. I was thinking about changing avatars when I hit 500. Anyway, this is off subject, so I'm gonna run from the mods now...

Gypsy, of course...mostly because she'll beat me if I don't mention her  . She's strong-willed, not afraid to stand up for her beliefs, and has an incredible gift of disternment in admin business. I hope and pray i find a girl like her someday...video games...hard rock...yeah...I need a girl like her...

Shatterheart and Lightbringer: I know them both personally, and they've always been good friends to my sister, and they never exclude me from things unless the activity will cause hazards to my physical or spiritual health. Even if they call me Li'l Aaron...

churchgirl111: cause she says the nicest things about my poems, even if it's crap

Ekul AKA The_Marauding_Manic and ZiP: Two words: Spirit and audacity :thumb:

Icarus: best stinkin' poet on the boards

Ashley:...stop calling me kid and you might get a mention...

All my peeps on the Writing board: YOU GUYS ROCK!

And everyone else on CAA, because without you, I'd have no place to hang out and call my own.

Zip is smelling awfully british today...;)

To Vash: hey for once in my life there's someone here younger than me! Hanging around with your sister and friends makes me feel so young...it's a term of affection anyhow.

To everyone who mentioned the staff--hey, we appriciate that guys. Always good to hear we're appriciated...and like Shatterheart said, those members who work wiht us and support us in our myriad of trials, you guys make it all worth it.

To everyone else!--well you're the reason I and the rest of the staff are here. Kudos to you folks.
