Just for fun, I've been wondering what languages ya'll can speak.
I can speak French almost fluently, Spanish (a little), a very little of Japanese, and English the messiest language out there. lol

I've been dealing with alot of people who don't speak much English lately and I'm seeing now how important it is to learn different languages.

This will be my first thread started. :) Can't wait to hear your responses. ^_^

I'm billingual. English is my second language. My first is Afrikaans, which is a language native to Southern Africa. I can also speak nonsense, but that's another language altogether.

I can speak English (obviously), a little Spanish, a bit of Japanese, and a tiny scattering of French words I learned 4 years ago.

English, forgot Spanish (not that I ever cared to learn it), and I actually KNOW some Japanese (meaning, I can form a coherent sentence from my current vocabulary, and read it fairly well).

French, french and more French! I learnt a little Chinese in an introductory course, same with Japanese, but haven't used what I learnt and so I've forgotten most of it. Though I have notes I could always re-read in my old schoolbooks.
I tried a little bit of Spanish but didn't continue with those lessons for one reason or another.
Of course, I speak English (the United Kindgom kind where we spell 'color' 'colour' and call our 'Moms' 'Mums' ;D ) though strangely enough, because I was brought up watching Sesame Street, I called the letter 'Z' 'Zee' instead of 'Zed'. I still prefer 'Zee' XD )

It's so great to find someone with a great knowledge of French! I've taken it for a few years now, and really enjoy it. Also, I find a lot of old English words are very similar to French ones. E.g 'to comprehend' and 'comprendre'; to understand.
It's really interesting learning the different tenses, too. ^^ I hope I can go overseas one day and finally use it in a French-speaking environment. Although my French teacher was from France, and we talked a lot, so I'm a little prepared. :)

I just wish I could remember those quick-keys for all the accented letters used in French. It's annoying to always open up Word and do 'Insert -> Symbol', then copy and paste whenever I want to write anything in French, lol!

oh, well, if we're describing it to that extent...
English - fluent
Spanish - I can read most of it, though usually I have to make assumptions on what half the words mean. I've written two complete essays in Spanish, but I had the Internet to help me.
Japanese - I can read kana and a handful of kanji. I can say very basic sentences and use a few types of conjugations.
French - um...yeah...I go to French table, took a class in high school...but I don't really know anything...

Well, I'm fluent in English. I've taken Spanish 1 and 2, so I know a little bit, and can understand some signs that are in Spanish, but I've forgotten most of what I learned already. XD As far as Japanese goes, I know about half of the Hiragana and a very limited amount of Kana. I've also familiarized myself with a bunch of words (at least, it seems like a bunch to me XD), but I'm far from conversational or even from forming a coherent sentence. XD

English - I can put a coherent sentence together most of the time...leastwise, I hope so. Every now and then I get a blank look. XD

Spanish - Some of the basics. I doubt I could really understand it at full conversational speed.

Arabic - A work in progress. Still can't put things into sentences, and I sure as heck can't read it yet...

Speak english and all that now, know an amount of Japanese (thanks to vocab building on subs and lyrics, and 3 years of classes in high school), and used to know French from taking it from Kindergarden-grade 9. Although with very little interest in it, and basically being forced in school to take it up until then (French IS Canada's second language), I basically threw everything I knew in the trashcan (not intentionally, though) when I got interested in Japanese. Oh, and apparently when I was quite the youngster, I could have conversions with my Italian grandparents @_@... Of course I was too young to remember it at all, and of course lost it all since then^^ Only know a few words :/

English, Cantonese, Mandarin, basic Japanese (I can only use it to buy stuff, ask for directions, talk about simple things like my interests, etc.).

I guess Cantonese is not really a separate language, but a dialect. But most people consider it separate because it sounds so different to Mandarin.

Well I can speak English (the proper kind, non of that silly American stuff [don't hurt me]) and about as much Japanese as your average 3 year old from said country... although I am hoping to learn more.

I can also speak Scouse... and if anyone actually knows what that is they deserve a cookie.
Will insert something intelligent here later... maybe
