Upset about roots dub

Postby desperado » Sat Nov 11, 2006 8:28 am

So...they changed the entire lignup for g.u.

Haseo: Andrew Francis-ok not as good as yuri
Ovan: Michael Kopsa-not even close to whoever did him in g.u.
Shino: Kelly Sheridan-ok
Tabby: Maryke Hendrike-want to strangle tabby already
Phyllo: Russel Roberts-not bad, its fits him
Ender: Lisa Ann Beley-no were near as good
Naobi: Paul Dobson-how can you beat Steven Jay Blum
Tawaraya: Mark Acheson-ok
Sakisaka: Alistair Abell-ok

PLUS they sped up the episode so they talked about twice as fast as they normally would. Cut 90 percent of the ending, cut small peices out in the show to fit four comericials, AND sped up the intro so much it sounded like a different song.... Not to mention the timeslot at 5 am on saturdays....

Gah sorry for the rant but after sign and g.u. this is truly angering.....

edit

I always get steven jay blum and crispin freeman confused...

Sounds like someone at CN put it on fastward when airing it, but it must been only in your area that this happen.

I went to Toonzone and not one person has said that it sped up the episode, other then they did speed up the ED or the OP.

Some said that the OP wasn't speed up and only the ED was speed up with the cuts.

Since Kelly Sheridan and Lisa Ann Beley are in it I might want to get the DVD when it comes out.

Huh?

You speed up the voices in anime, so that they sound funny.

The only thing that I have ever seen them speed anything up is the OP or the ED and that is only on TV.

The only 2 shows I've ever seen them do that one (from the little dubs I've seen on tv), is the Digimon openings (endings aren't even included, just a quick reprise of the opening) to fit the dub songs, and the FMA endings. I disslike them short like that *shakes fist at commercials, even though they help pay for them*.

Actually, it reminds me on how on The Simpsons, certain channels have some scenes cut to fit in the commercials, but other channels actually include the extra scenes.

It may have not been noticeable to those who haven't watched roots in Japanese or sign but after hearing the deliberate pacing of it and sign its like steel wool to the raw nerves. They dont talk hyper fast its just like the pauses are now gone and the voices are sped up a bit. Very frustrating...

I must say overall I am most frustrated about ovan's va. The va that did ovan in g.u. pulled him off so perfectly its insane. I wish they would have gotten that for roots.
