Dental Dilemma

I got two very deep cavities filled about a little more than three weeks ago. It seemed fine, but as soon as I got home, and my face stopped feeling numb, I ate something. I felt a sharp pain in the nerves of the teeth that were fixed. I told my parents about it and they told me to wait it out; it would be better soon.

Well, it hasn't. I have to eat food on the left side of my mouth because the right side molars hurts everytime I bite into anything. When I drink something cold, the nerves on my right hurt.

I don't even know how it's supposed to be fixed. It seems silly that I'm asking you guys, few of which are dentists, but I was wondering if anyone has gone through this and has any advice.

My advice... GO BACK TO THE DENTIST.

Seriously, [korean] parents are ALWAYS telling you to just "wait out on the pain" only then it'll be too late.

So just get it checked again.

Yes, DEFINITELY go back. At least CALL them and explaain what's going on.

Sounds like something got pushed onto a nerve...like when they were drilling, a piece got moved, or your tooth was forced down. Or a nerve was exposed, possibly inflamed or something. Definitely go back. I'm no dentist, but it doesn't sound good, and I regret not going back when I've had tooth troubles. You shouldn't be feeling that, methinks...

Indeed, I concur with the most honourable member of the single-letter name - such pain is not according to design. You should not be experiencing pain three weeks after a simple filling, even for relatively deep cavities. If you got metal fillings, I might image that they could account for some cold-sensitivity, but you shouldn't be feeling pain when you eat.

Make an appointmet PDQ and ASAP and get it looked at before you start really
aching.

Yes, if it still hurts just as much after three weeks, definitely go back...it should have stopped hurting after a few days.

Actually it should have stopped hurting within a couple of hours after you got home.
You also might consider going to a different dentist to have him or her check the work of the first one just in case.

A second opinion or even a third opinion is always best in any medical situation.
