Virgin over 18? Do they still exist?

Talk about anything in here.

Virgin over 18? Do they still exist?

Postby bemanisuperstar » Sat Feb 21, 2004 5:52 pm

in Prayer request I mentioned about my girl problems I apprecate those praying for me on that subject but I have a delema.

Seems there aren't any Virgins left my age 22.

My question do they still exist and if they do why can't I locate one?

It's really to me a matter of self respect and morals.

that's what really gets me.

Who know maybe I'll hook up with somebody that posted in this thread.

*raises his hand, too* As far as it goes, I don't personally feel that you should rule a girl out just because she's not a virgin any more. It's more important that she's a Christian (and obviously, that she's repented of that sin, and understands that now that she's a new creature in Christ, she shouldn't be having premarital sex any more).
To all, life thou givest, to both great and small.

And wither and perish, but naught changeth thee.

I am 19 and a virgin...I don't think there is anything wrong at all with someone being a virgin...it just shows they have a bit of self control. Until I get married I will stay that way.

I am one. My parents were virgins until they got married... and that was when they were around 28 and 33 years old (maybe off by one year there). My cousins on my mother's side, who are not Christian, nearly all of them are virgins and they are older than me.

I am sure others on this site of similar age will also state their virginity.

As for why you cannot locate one,... you just need to keep looking. Also take into the factor that popular culture has made virginity an object of ridicule, and so people who are either pressured or eager to "fit" in the popular culture might lie about their virginity.

After some thought, I think I should advise you not to be bothered by a perception that there are not many virgins around our age, regardless of whether it is true or not. Continue walking down the straight and narrow and let God do His will.

*Raises hand* 24, still a virgin. Uninterstred in sex. May or may not get married, put given my personality, probably not.

I think the Grammarian raised a very good point. I may be a virgin but I'm not going to start condemning ex-virgins (especially those who have repented and accepted His forgiveness). I hope our brothers may be forgiving toward our sisters (who made some bad decisions and are fighting to keep themselves pure) and treat her with utmost respect and love as God commanded them to. Personally, if I was a guy, I wouldn't reject a girl on the sole reason that she's not a virgin.

I am not a virgin, but I did wait for the man I knew I was going to marry. I love the man I am sleeping with very deeply, and will probably get married this year.

Btw, how do you know all these women you're talking to are not virgins? Are you going around asking everyone "you a virgin? No? NEXT!" That's a pretty personal question and I'm sure many people don't like to blurt out the answer.

Someone said before (too lazy to check who) that many people lie about their virginity in order to "fit in" and that's true, they do.
Who cares if their virgins or not? Just care that they're at least Christians. People make mistakes. For some, they are forced into sex and it's tragic, but it happens.

I don't think this is something you should really judge anyone on.

Amen. If one repents, and leaves their life of sin, one is a virgin in God's eyes, from what I understand. Oh, and I'm a virgin, and I am committed to keeping my virginity until marriage, and I certainly don't see myself getting married within a year! ;)

It's not necessarily the fact of whether or not you're a virgin that matters. To me, I'd rather marry a man who's been pure all his life, because I'd personally feel a certain security and a stronger sense of commitment in that. If someone sleeps with more than one person, then leaves them, it may make you question how willing they are to commit to you, or more importantly, God, since the Lord does ask us to wait until marriage. I've nothing against people who aren't virgins, and when I find the man I want to marry, love and obedience to God would be first and foremost on my list, not whether he's a virgin or not. ^^; Just my two cents.

I'm not sure I understand you're last statement....

in any case, this is one of my points in my last post:

Suppose you meet a girl at church; she's totally on fire with God is totally Christian. You begin falling in love. But you find out that when she was 16 she was raped by her boyfriend at the time. Now, do you just walk away from her because "technically" she's not a virgin? Or do you stay with her because it was something she couldn't control? Where do you draw that line?

Something to think about.

I'm going to go out on a limb here but I'm pretty sure he means his health like less chance of getting STDs. Virgins wouldn't get them from others, obviously, so therefore you couldn't get it from someone through your virgin wife, although I know of some medical exceptions.

I must say that as touchy of a topic as I feared this would be, the conversation has been very mature and stable....way to go guys. I'm impressed. :thumb:

I definitely admire anyone who can wait and not have any type of intercourse, or even foreplay. However, I have zero respect for those who lie about their sexual status.

Also. Consider the time that these rules were made. People got married at a much younger age, because lifespans were shorter. Therefore, they probably had sex in their teens.

By the way, the reason you are having difficulty locating a virgin, bemanisuperstar, is because most people aren't Christians, and therefore don't have the same values as Christians. And, even Christians don't necessarily follow those guidelines. I strongly encourage people to wait for marriage. I thought I was going to, but for some reason, that didn't happen. Maybe it has something to do with him not having a problem with sparing premarital sex, and I kept getting my head clouded with some thoughts.

But. If you're a virgin, I recommend that you wait until marriage. I think that's best. If I have children, I pray they will.
