Maid Cafe in Lion City

Of all the places in the world, this is the last place I'd expect them to open one.

Think this is a sign the otaku are spreading beyond Japan? Wonder if someone somewhere will jump up and down calling it sexist/perverted/insert flame here. Although If I have a daugher, I won;t let her work there.

Wow... I'm sure this is received oddly by the majority of people.

In Fine City, that's putting it mildly.

To be honest, I never thought I'd see something like this in my hometown.

There are no more heroes any more they all died in the night that the world fell into darknes; and good men are trampled down into the dirt never to be seen again. This is the story of this world of ours the story of the corupt and those that would try to save it from them but become corupt themselfs from their own selfish greed and want for what they do not have.

Well, I know where I want to have dinner for my 20th birthday. Actually, it would be interesting to get my guy friends and go, and then we would dress up and serve my girl friends dinner ~ to make it fair. That would be weird and fun.

That's really interesting... A cosplay maid cafe with hostess club touches... It could do well.

Must be a slow news day. A whole page and a bit on a cosplay cafe. Sounds interesting and may even work, but parts of it sound to much like an escort/stripper sort of service. Ugh!

First thought that springs to my mind is Hooters.

Hmm. I believe I'd let my daughter work there. Of course, I'd inform her that dad would be visiting her often at work to "check out" the other employees. Yep, that would creep her out...drive all thoughts of this line of work right out of her head, it would.

If it were me it would depend on what the clientale and general atmsophere of the place was and also what the other waitresses and staff were like and how they were treated by the customers and the management before I even allowed any
hypothetical daugther of mine to work at such a place.

I'm amazed by the language requirements. What do they pay them?

Considering the budget they have (80 K for a Orchard location?), it's not going to be alot. Unless they scrounge up some money or now people who will work for less.

Just heard and read some reviews on the cafe. Here are some thoughts and reviews on it.

1)The girls. For an establishment where the the "maids" are the main draw, they are rather enthusiastic although in terms of maid behaviour they tend to slip up( greeting irashaimasne instead of okairinasai goshujinsama which was their main draw.) Also, most are fairly young and just out of school. Most are prolific local cosplayers and some are those in opera. Looks are typical girls off the street, though to be honest I was hoping for a Lunamaria option.

2)The service. The staff was obviously inexperienced and harried. Overlooked orders are common, so go when the crowds are thin. Also, not enough security in case some customers decide to get frisky, which can be a problem later at night when the drunks leave the nearby pubs. Even in Singapore some male muscle is needed. Two guys are barely enough.

3) Food is not too bad, guess they found a good chef but was expecting more bang for my buck consideriing the prices I was paying ($16 for a pasta, twice the amount in suburb establishments.) The house pour however tasted like well, I can't put this politely, urine. Maybe they should scrap the house pour and get REAL wine instead.

Also, the design for the menus are simply unacceptable.

There is a maid cafe in Canada now. I forgot where, but I read about online.
