Neko Con

Well even thou Neko Con is a few months away in Nov. 3,4 and 5 2006
I had to check to see what the Hampton Coliseum would have schedule to have on Sat night.
Last year was a rap concert and the crowd coming out I didn't want to mix with on the way to hotel where I was staying.
This year on Sat night they have a gospel music concert. I would guess most of the crowd from this one will be out early before the anime con closes down out 2 AM so as to be at church in the morning.
Well last year in the convention center we had upstairs the Marine Corps Ball and a local Catholic Church had a anniversary dinner while the anime con was downstairs. It was interesting when the three groups were mixing near the stairs, elevator and escalator. I think one nun was following a girl dress has Battle Nun and found out she was in the wrong location.

Most of the staff of Neko Con have been warned about a thread that was posted on the public forums so has to be prepared to call for assitance and the police if this happen.
It seems someone plans to attend **** dressed as a Ninja but as they put it Nigra ( I don't know if they misspelled or really wanted this spelled this way) so has to cause problems during this show also recruiting others to be part of this. One thing was to be standing in front of the doors outside with signs saying con closed.
Has anyone attending any cons run into this type of problem or other types of problem that may have been caused by someone attending a con?

Well by Neko Con's website it is 12 days until the con starts. Nov 3,4,5 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center, Hampton, VA.
I was wonder who will be attending as a member of CAA.
I will be working as part of Attendee Management Services. Sort of security and medical assitances group. I have been working as part of the staff for years since I attend my first Neko Con and they were looking for medical people.

Nope. I'm not. I don't think a lot of us go to cons besides the really large ones (AWA, Otakon, AX, etc) or one or two people going to the more obscure ones.

Don't worry. Neko Con went from being a hotel con to a convention center con so it will be one of the next large cons.
I understand we are using more of the HCC this year to spread out the programs.
One thing added this year is remote control 1:28 scale car races.

Two Days Until Neko Con. Things are coming together for the show and all the rules have been posted to all involved.
Only thing is that Kevin Lillard of fansview.com will not be attending this year and will be at another con this time to photograph cosplayers and other activities, but the people of Neko Con have that covered and I would hope other website photographers will be there to post pictures during or after the con.

Well I am getting ready to leave for Neko Con. The Opening is tomorrow but I have to be there so I will be working when the show opens.
If anyone makes it to the show I will be walking around somewhere in the convention center in my orange uniform of the Tokyo Fire Service Rescue Operations also my gray and white Tokyo EMS uniform.
I would guess someone from CAA might be at the gospel concert across the street in the coliseum Saturday night.
Be back Monday.

Well Back from Neko Con and it was a job trying to keep attendees in-line and safe. I had to attend to a couple of medical emergencies but was limited to what I could do because of the convention centers rules.
We did have to work around the Marine Corps Ball and get the attendees into main events for cosplay so has to not interfere with their event.
Some minor problems during the show like late delivery of the bags for attendees and getting enough items packaged so they can be given out.
One thing was my friend Andria and myself were beat by the time we made it back to the hotel with the work we did.
I will have more later

OK heres more of what went on.
I was next door at the connected hotel to the convention center eating dinner Friday evening when I looked up and seen the strobe lights of the fire alarm system of the convention center flashing. Someone had pulled the alarms forcing everyone out until security had seen through cameras what was happening.
During the evac of the building the people in a video viewing room completely damaged a double door and the door frame leaving the room.
The door was just barely hanging from the wall when the crowd came back in and sat down to continue watching what they left.
The AMS including myself had to force them out of the room so the door could be repaired which took a few hours. So the room was closed for the night.
It took awhile to close the show Sunday because alot the vendors brought alot with them and they had to pack everything in boxes and then pack the vehicles and trailers they had. All the staff and guest didn't get to dinner until 9PM and the show closed at 5 PM
