Much like the threads before it, this is a thread I created for the discussion of new anime that will be airing on TV in Japan in the Fall 2013 season. Anime typically gets released and runs for a number of seasons. The year is divided up into four seasons: January to March is winter, April to June is spring, July to September is summer, and October to December is fall. Each season is approximately 13 weeks.

Here, we can talk about what shows look interesting, what we plan to watch, and generally get giddy and excited for things that we've been anticipating for a while.

However, I will probably be taking a break from anime this season, either all or part of it, due to life things and mild case of anime burnout, so I might not stay up to date with these. Kyoukai no Kanata could be the exception because asdfghjkl I've really been looking forward to it.

This looks like it will be an interesting but not too exciting Fall season.

- DIABOLIK LOVERS – Nope, nope. I gave up hot vampire guys when Vampire Knight ruined my life. Pretty good music in the PV, though.
- Gaist Crusher – I feel like these types of anime are all the same...
- Outbreak Company – What
- Infinite Stratos 2 – Nope.
- Nagi no Asukara – After seeing that PV, your description doesn't really do it justice, Blkmage. Granted, I wouldn't know how to describe that either. XD Looks interesting enough for a watch, though.
- Log Horizon – I'd probably watch this just for that cat character, but it doesn't seem my cup of tea.
- Dia no Ace – I'm not into sports manga, but Madhouse and I.G. teaming up? I probably will check out the first epsiode.
- Phi Brain – I remember thinking when this anime started that it would never last. I was wrong haaaaaha.
- Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai! - Whaaaaaat...
- Gundam Build Fighters – More Gundam fun times that I will never know.
- Pokemon XY – Gotta Catch 'em All! Again. XD
- Galilei Donna – This might have some potential. Too early to tell.
- Samurai Flamenco – Yayoi did it better. :<
This actually might be good, though.
- Magi – Oh oops, I still haven't watched the last two episodes of the first season. Better get caught up!
- Yowamushi Pedal – Like I said, not into sports manga, but cycling...this might be good.
- Miss Monochrome – Well, okay then. This is something.
- Gingitsune – This looks interesting, so I will probably give it a first episode watch, at least.
- Kill La Kill – It's Trigger, soooo, definite watch. Plus, dat PV, man....
- Valvrave the Liberator 2nd Season – I think I watched one episode of the first season and still wasn't sold. Even on vampires!
- Tokyo Ravens – Not sure what to make of this, but I want to watch it just to get to the part where they're riding the horse up a cliff. This might be interesting, so giving it a first episode watch.
- Hajime no Ippo: Rising – Still haven't watched the beginning of this.
- Kuroko no Basuke – Despite being one of the most popular sports series in Japan, it's still not my cup of tea. :[
- Kyoukai no Kanata – YUP \o.o/
- STRIKE THE BLOOD - ...this must be vampire season or something...
- Golden Time – The PV failed to sell me. Maybe a first episode, though.
- Little Busters! ~Refrain~ - Naaaah.
- Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio: Ars Nova – Great music, awesome outfit designs, but the rest seems all meh to me. :\ The world mechanics may be interesting, though. Hoping for a good story to keep it afloat.
- Freezing Vibration - whyyyyyy
- Unbreakable Machine Doll – This looks surprising good enough for a first episode watch.
- COPPELION – Not sure if I will like it, but it seems like it will an interesting series to be sure.
- Ore no Nounai Sentakushi ga, Gakuen Love Come o Zenryoku de Jama Shite Iru – That was a really energetic PV. O_O Looks like fun, but I'm worried it's going to packed full of fanservice. :< Tentatively will be following it.
- White Album 2 – I never saw the first White Album. Was it any good?
- Megane-bu – Reminder to not ask why or how DEEN does things, just move along instead...
- Yozakura Quartet ~Hana no Uta~ - Never saw the original, but this looks pretty cool. There's a fighting nun? O:
- Non Non Biyori – This looks pretty cute.
- Super Seisyun Brothers – Not enough to tell if this will be good, but it looks like it may have some potential. Keeping a watch on it.
- Walkure Romanze – I...what. I see some Utena outifts in there, though.
- BlazBlue: Alter Memory – Like with the P4 anime, I can watch the game without having to play it (or buy a PS3)! \o.o/
- Neppu Kairiku Bushi Road - Skipping because there's not much on this and I'm still not a mecha fan yet.
- Pupa – The concept art for this looks too cool to be DEEN. I might give the first episode a watch.
- Kyousogiga – I know nothing about this, but the animation looks cool.

Yowamushi Pedal: I’m extremely excited about this, and anyone who even remotely likes shonen sports should give it a chance. There are a lot of things that are supposed to be heartwarming that really don’t affect me, like Yotsuba&! for example. But I am really touched by the friendships in YowaPeda.

- Yowamushi Pedal – Like I said, not into sports manga, but cycling...this might be good.

Hmm haven't paid much attention to fall season, and I'm probably going to be too busy to keep up the number I tend to.

Infinite Stratos 2 - sigh do I really want to watch this trash again...no, probably no.
Nagi no Asukara - trying it out for unorthodox reasons.
Gunpla anime - yes x77. Please be like OVA and be glorious.
Kill La Kill - Trigger hype always hype.
Valvrave S2 - Indeed, the only thing that matters is a new Nana Mizuki x T.M. Revolution. Nana leading isn't quite right; more that they're doing it under her record label instead of his, though her leading would be the natural assumption. If they follow this up with another surprise duet in January...wow. Or hey, if they really wanted to surprise everyone, they can just throw it at us at Animelo lol.
Kyoukai no Kanata - KyoAni
Little Busters Refrain - just so I can complain how bad the adaptation is.
Arpeggio - now this is something I actually have reasonable expectations for. I have heard positive things regarding the manga so let's hope they pull it off.
Unbreakable Machine Doll - hmm it's an okay novel/manga but not sure if I'd bother with the anime version.
LN titles just keep getting longer - eh, I don't see this being good but I'll try it.
Walkure Romanze - I'm fairly certain this will be a standard "we can't adapt VNs so take this ecchi harem anime" but I'll try because Hiroko Taguchi.
Kyousougiga - FINALLY! Last time was a trick but this time it's real!

The rest I'm too lazy to look into and will probably just wait for opinions. I'm definitely watching Mirai Fukuin in theaters though.

Dear god, I have a lot of anime to catch up on before this october. ;^^

Galilei Donna - could be really good, could be horrible. All I know is I will be tuning in to find out.
Kyoukai no Kanata - Looks amazing, plus kyoto animation.
Golden Time - Toradora is one of my favorite animes ever, so I'm definitely looking forward to this.
Little Busters! ~Refrain~ - obviously I need to finish watching the first series before hand, but still can't wait!
Neppu Kairiku Bushi Road - Not much is known about it, true, but it's based on an idea from a time where most anime was still incredibly good. So I have high hopes for this.

Log Horizon: Well I like the character designs, but I won't expect much.

Unbreakable Machine Doll: Well they got the wrong century but for a second there I was like OMG Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is getting an anime adaptation!
COPPELION: Why do they need to go to Tokyo though?
Megane-bu: They all need glasses because their site has blinded them with colour.
Yozakura Quartet ~Hana no Uta~: Looks cool and the art style reminds me a bit of Kyousogiga.
Super Seisyun Brothers: I'm not good at slice of life, I don't know why I keep trying.
BlazBlue: Alter Memory: Will I continue my apparent tradition of watching (silly) game adaptations? Only time will tell.
Neppu Kairiku Bushi Road: I'm interested by the samurai trappings on the site.

Nope:

DIABOLIK LOVERS: I cannot recommend against this enough. I read someone's review of the VN and it sounds like the worst thing ever.
Kuroko no Basuke: I'll probably not have time to watch season 1 first.
STRIKE THE BLOOD: "...obviously the government sets up a girl..." Japannnnn
Non Non Biyori: The site image gave me slight Higurashi vibes.
Walkure Romanze: Waah lady knights! Don't have much hope for it though.

Kyoukai no Kanata - I've been seriously pumped for this ever since it was announced. KyoAni doing a somewhat-dark-tinged fantasy? SIGN ME UP!!
Little Busters! ~Refrain~ - Well I watched and enjoyed the first half (and yeah, I know I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much had I played the VN first; adaptation and all that ), but indeed, from what I've heard, that was all just a precursor for Refrain. Looking forward to the conclusion.

Nagi no Asukara: mostly it's the flying fish. Whatever that has to do with the story will probably determine if I keep watching.
Gingitsune: a giant fluffy fox~ Plus slice-of-life style looks like it could be endearing.
Kill la Kill: fight scenes look like they'll be done well. Also the art appeals to me.
Coppelion: interesting. Of course every apocalypse/catastrophe ever takes place in Tokyo, haha.



-Things I will try because I am excited to laugh at them-

Samurai Flamenco: male model and superheroes. Sounds amusing... a little worried it will be a copycat of Tiger and Bunny though.
Megane-bu: there is just no way this will make sense. I think it looks ridiculous and fun.
Super Seisyun Brothers: seems lighthearted and character-centric.
Walkure Romance: I'm already having doubts that this is going to go how I wish, but hey. I'll try it anyways.

Kyoukai no Kanata: I know I should be really excited, but honestly I'm concerned it's going to be "cute girls doing cute things... like suicide attempts." Can someone please shoot that thought down?
Diamond no Ace: usually I like sports manga but can't sit through the anime.
Yowamushi Pedal: read some of the manga and know it's really engaging. But again with sports anime.
Galilei Donna: depends on what type of plot it's going to have.
Log Horizon: it's really just because I kind of like the art and the anthro-cat....

Miss Monochrome: plot. There is none. It's like actress arrogance plus Vocaloid.
Sekai de Ichiban: well this obviously looks like it's going to be plot driven. That's a lot of ecchi in one short PV.

It's impressive how Diabolik Lovers (more like Diabolick Lovers mirite) ended up being worse than I was expecting, and that's after having my expectations coloured by reading a review of the otoge that referred to it as Diabolik Wifebeaters.

Kyoukai no Kanata, a.k.a. Beyond The Boundary, episode 1:

SPOILER: Highlight text to read: Haha, wow-- I was not expecting her to immediately stab him straight through the heart with no hesitation whatsoever in response. And *then* continually keep on trying to kill him the rest of the week!

Anyway, I already really love the protagonist , and his interactions with Mirai were hilarious (and rather sweet, especially later ) even when 'serious.' I also like the fact that there are a number of other people around who are 'in' on the whole Spirit World thing, too.

As for the end of the ep.: SPOILER: Highlight text to read: Curious as to what was up with those little flashes of other scenes during the fight... and nice little cliffhanger, as well. Also, beautiful ED.

In other words, yes, this was just as fantastic as I expected it to be-- and it's only the first episode! Can't wait for next week!

So maybe I've just become horribly cynical SPOILER: Highlight text to read: (ahahahah this is not a maybe) but I really didn't see anything in Beyond The Boundary that was outstanding or particularly interesting, apart from the good animation. They somehow managed to make the premise bland and I'm not sure what mood they were going for. It reminded me a bit of Chuunibyou but in a way that felt kinda like a fanfiction as written by one of the characters of that show. Anyway, hopefully it gets better/more interesting. That said, favourite character is already the dark haired boy because I have scarf-bias.

Kill la Kill on the other hand, did a great job of immediately drawing me into the setting, making the characters intriguing and being hilarious at times. I do hope though there will be more to the plot than SPOILER: Highlight text to read: MC-girl fighting increasingly stronger but nevertheless cannon-fodder members of the council every episode. Also, I'm rather disappointed with all the fanservice. :/

Kill la Kill, barring the unfortunate uniform, is basically just the best thing. Matoi is freaking amazing and I hope she continues to be so. Also, sooooooo stylish and good-looking. The character animation was as great as expected but I'm amazed at how good the CG looked, which is something I'm not sure I ever thought I might say about anime. Basically the whole episode had me going ah my gahhhhhh.

Golden Time: ehhhhh, not a very good introductory episode, just met a bunch of characters, not much interesting happening. Not entirely sure how comedic hijinks are going to ensue yet but.

Trying hard to activate my suspension of disbelief in Coppelion. Why the protagonists wear school uniforms on their mission to explore post-apocalyptic Tokyo has not yet been disclosed, but I'm sure there's a rational explanation. Animation is sort of FLCL with an Aeon Flux edge.

Kyoukai no Kanata: Decent expository episode I suppose. I do hope it gets more interesting soon. Battle scenes are great.

Wow-- Crunchyroll has now obtained literally every single show that I was either already planning on watching in full, planning on at least checking out, or even thinking about possibly checking out, a fact that I am really loving right now. Only thing is that, aside from 2 of them, literally everything else (5 more!) are streaming on Thursdays. Making a custom viewing schedule to spread them out over the other days of the week now (so don't mind my somewhat-late comments on some of them, LOL )...


Anyway, Nagi no Asukara episode 1:

Loved the fact that it starts out underwater, and yet everything seems utterly normal aside from that particular fact + the magic fire.

That said, the drama is pretty whatever so far, and the super-protective/jealous/shouty main guy is a bit annoying, too ; however, the world that they're in (and the stuff that lets them breathe, and all that) is just so darn interesting ( + I have to give it some points for having a character SPOILER: Highlight text to read: slam a bowl of stew straight into a sea-god's {or, rather, "a scale of a sea-god's"} face out of embarrassment, LOL ) that I'm going to keep on following this for now.

Nagi no Asukara: I like the fantastical undersea setting, but I'm not so fond of the middle school drama (there's enough drama in this one episode for an entire season), and I really dislike Hikari's character type. Probably won't watch much more of this anime for those two reasons.

On a different note, Uroko uses the speech patterns of an ojiisan (grandpa), which is pretty amusing. But given his status as the local god, he probably is very old.
