CAA: Christian Anime Alliance

Has anyone here watched the anime Black Butler? I've been seeing it around the past year or so and it looks mildly amusing, but I'm not sure if I want to watch it yet, if only for one reason. I've seen a lot of stuff out there (AMVs, fan-art, fan-fiction) pairing the characters Ciel and Sebastian. From what I understand of the series so far Sebastian is a demon and Ciel is a 12-year old boy who, for the time being, serves as his master. I find the whole idea of them being a couple rather disturbing. So is this just crazy fangirls being crazy fangirls, or is there some truth behind it? Sorry if this comes across as an odd question, I just wanted to be sure before watching the show and I didn't see an anime review up for it yet.

They definitely play with it in the show a little, as well as reversing the concepts of good and evil sort of...

I saw a few episodes. A lot of fangirls like to pair up Sebastian and Ciel, but for the most part, it doesn't show up in the anime.... except for some times where it seems to be more making fun of the fangirls rather than pandering to them (IMO. That's just how I interpreted it- someone might see it differently). I think it has something to do with the master-servant relationship that is similar to the relationships you often see in yaoi/shounen-ai that really gets the fangirls going.

Just know that the anime and manga are very, very different.

It definitely has some jabs at potential "pairing" but it's not official (at least from the anime). Ciel does crossdress for the reason of trying to nab Jack the Ripper. There is also another character who is constantly flirting with Sebastian (and he's a guy), and keeps trying to get Sebastian to fall for him. Like Mech said, it reverses good and evil. Sebastian is the good guy, the angel is the bad guy. But as for the Sebastian/Ciel? No, it's played around with as a joke, but never serious.
