Trigun Returns in a Movie!

Trigun Badlands Rumble is coming soon. I got to see it today, and it was really enjoyable, despite having to crane over some Vash cosplayer hair to see the subtitles. Much like the Cowboy Bebop movie, it's a middle of the show extension, providing essentially a supersized episode that allows for all the fan favorite charachters to appear without playing with the timeline of the series itself. It was funny, had some nice epic moments in it, good gunfights, and a fun little storyline. Definately keeping an eye out when they release it for ownership on DVD (or in theaters, as the rumors go), and I'd definitely recommend it to any Trigun fans out there.

Here's hoping they get Johnny Yong Bosch to play Vash in the dub. I think he really did a good job with Vash.

I'm interested in seeing the animation quality of this, and if it is better than the original (not that there was anything wrong with the original, but it is what? 12-13 years since the original was made?)

In any case, I'd really like to see this! :D

I'd been hearing/reading about a Trigun 2 movie off and on for like five years now. If it's finally due to come out soon, I'd love to see it.

I've been hearing about this for a while, but wasn't sure when it would come out. So yeah, how is the animation quality? It's usually higher in movies from what I've seen.

The animation quality was really good, and they threw in some well integrated CGI for the mechanical stuff like the big desert trains and some set piece sections.

My question is, and maybe I'm just really dense/haven't been paying much attention ^^; but has this aired in theaters in Japan yet?

Yup! It aired in April over in Japan. They were giving away the movie programs for prizes at the AX screening and the Funimation panel.

I saw the premier of the sub at Anime Expo. Without giving away spoilers, I'd say the feel of the movie was like the pre-Legato TV episodes. (And Wolfwood was there, so that was a plus).

I just hope they keep Johnny as the voice of Vash and track down Dorothy Fahn for Meryl, and possibly even Jeff Nimoy...

But I think that the majority of the Bandai and Viz actors worked on the orignal dub... (I know they are all pretty much freelance, but I've only heard Johnny work on one voice in a Funimation production and that was for a small role in the original FMA series.

I just am not sure I can hear Vash in English from anyone but Johnny Yong Bosche... >_< Any word of if they dub it, they'll bring as much as the original cast as they can?

Nothing so far on the dub that I've heard. They actually only finished the subs right before the Con, so that's probably barely in the consideration right now, or Funi is just keeping very quiet about it.

I should probably pick up the original series someday.
