Yep. I've seen Shippuden and I really like this series more than the first series Naruto. I think the music is better (IMO). I'm already up to episode 115 (I just finished watching the 114th episode a few minutes ago).

I'm up to 75. You can watch it legally through Crunchy Roll and/or Joost.

Yeah, I watched it up to about ep. 90 or so, then went onto the manga. I just couldn't wait to find out what happened next! I don't think the music is as good (maybe memorable is a better word....) as PTS (pre-time skip) naruto, but i like the show a lot more when i got to Shippuden. but that is probably because i didn't know where/what the filler episodes were. lol.

I really like Shippuuden.:thumb: I watched 1-25 and 100-106, but i have slow internet so I usually just read rather than watch.

It's FINALLY OUT OF FILLER! At least until the
Orochimaru vs Sasuke fight is over
Then we'll probably have at least 3 non-canon adventures with Sasuke's group and at least 1 more arc with Naruto that has nothing to do with anything, but will still attempt to tie itself to the main plot really awkwardly... Then the REALLY good stuff after another year's worth of Filler.

namely
Sasuke vs Itachi, and the death of Orochimaru... I wonder if his death will be more drawn out in the anime as opposed to the "Holy crap, did Orochimaru just die?" scene in the manga
And then Pain... After more filler, I mean.

Oh, and I watch it on Hulu.

Wow, despite my sticking around Shippuuden (and will till the end) I have to disagree in both aspects. Shippuuden has been much more slowly paced and more filler-plagued (talking of the first hundred episodes) than the original series, and while there have been a couple good emotive and surprising moments, the only battles in the whole series that jump to mind as memorable and awesome are IMHO
Sakura+old sand lady vs Sasori and Asuma+Shikamaru+ANBU vs Akatsuki
which were not even Naruto's! As a matter of fact Naruto has gone from being an extremelly compeling character who overcame his crippling shortcomings as a ninja with tons of willpower and clever use of the few good abilities he had, to become a cliche parody of himself, who is now more powerful than almost every other character and whose battles all become a repetition of getting beaten up until being able to use the ultimate available to him at the moment. And now topped with the unavoidable technique that he can only use so many times at risk of destroying his own body. Moreover, Naruto has gone from being spunky, restless and rebellious to angsty emo.

Also, while Shippuuden OPs have been quite passable and nicely animated, they are by no means as memorable and fitting for a shonen anime as Haruka Kanata and Go!. The EDs have been forgettable at best and utterly unstomachable at worse (I'm looking at you Bachikkoi :shady:)

Wait, is this confirmed?? I was totally sure that after all these long fillers we'd be finally hitting the spot were the manga is ahead enough that we could follow it for a long stretch and maybe only have a few filler by the time they were approaching the end. Maybe it is indeed high time to move to the manga... I've already read it all to the first series's plot.

I stopped watching Shippuden a long time ago because of the fillers. The manga is light years ahead of the anime. It has been since like the middle of the first 200 episode time period of fillers, yet they keep making more fillers. The only thing I like about the anime these days is some of the music.

No, it's not confirmed. It's cynicism. If they get all the way to pain without any filler, I'll be surprised, but happy for sure. Though
I'll be disappointed with how pain ends again... Or rather reminded of my disappointment... Can't see it being any better in the anime than in the manga...
Don't knock Bacchikoi, though! I LOVE Bacchikoi! Haha! And I also loved Heroes comeback and Closer. My favorite is definitely Haruka Kanata, but those ones are pretty awesome. I also liked the first Shippuden Ending, just for imagery in it if not necessarily for the song.

Plus... I'm gonna say that
Asuna's funeral
in the anime is probably in my top 10 anime moments of all time... Not something I thought I'd say about a Shonen Jump anime, so Shippuden isn't all bad... What makes it seem worse is that the filler takes place between big moments, unlike in the original Naruto where half the show may have been filler, but it all took place while waiting for part 2... Nothing compares to the amount of filler it got while we were waiting for Shippuden.

Naruto fillers wouldn't be so bad if they were shorter, and if they didn't seem to end the same way (Naruto meets bad guy, turns bad guy good).

YES!
I'm all cot up. Naruto shippuuden is a great anime. the only problem is there is a TON of filler. But the characters in shippuuden are great and the story and fighting is amazing

Oh thank goodness. I'm usually good at spotting sarcasm, but sadly, your description seemed so fitting that it was depresingly believable.

What? Someone actually liked Bacchikkoi? 0_o this world surely is wide and strange.

Yep that was quite ok, note that I did say there were some good emotive moments...but it's a shone, where are my awesome fights!?? In the first series we usually got one awesome fight right after the other. Now the battles are scarce and repetitive. It's quite sad that the most memorable fight for me in the series was one of the first ones, almost 100 episodes ago.

I take you are not familiar with One Piece :P that one makes you cry at the very least once per arc.

We fully agree here.

Yeah... It's just me being cynical, but I wouldn't be surprised if it went down exactly as I'd said.

Let's just say it grew on me. And I liked seeing Hinata dancing in slow motion. It is a bit strange that the song fits Choji the best, and he's only in the video for like a second...

*Naruto stares at orochimaru*
*Orochimaru Stares at Naruto*
*Naruto slowly going 9 tails*
*orochimaru gives baby-killing smile*
*naruto stares at Orochimaru*
*Episode end*

I'm familiar with one piece... I won't bother with the anime, since the manga itself is just way to galznerking long and I read the first few chapters, and I couldn't get into it. I've gotten an idea for how it works from a friend who reads it every week. They get to an island. They spend about a year there, beating up the big bad of that island. They go onto the next island... They've still got a lot of islands to go.

We fully agree here.

Cool.

Just so you know, I officially added galznerking to my Firefox dictionary today. The red lines in half of my CAA posts were bugging me.

Haha, that definition is correct but it misses the really good angsty drama of the characters. Besides in OP, more than in other shonens the heroes get their butts kicked quite oftenly, which is always refreshing. I'd suggest going with the manga anyway, as I personally find that the peculiar character design of Oda-sensei doesn't translate that good to animation. Surprisingly, the anime is just some few weeks behind the manga, and it's been like that for a long time without a need for fillers. I wonder why can't Naruto do that.

Perhaps writers like to make fillers? They are basically uncanon fanfics. Still, the manga is ahead enough that they can make canon episodes now.

They can, but it's profitable for them to make fillers... It stretches the show out so it keeps making them money, they're cheaper to make since people expect the big plot moments to be better animated, and it expands on the characters that don't get much development in the manga (Hinata, for instance, or Ino)

I still say they're not necessary, but I haven't hated all of them.

Yeah, I suspect it has to do with the money, though, then again, they are not trying to milk One Piece's anime despite it recently becoming the most popular and best selling Shonen Jump manga ever.

That being said I did also enjoy a number of Naruto's first series fillers and the last Shippuuden one (three tails arc) almost didn't feel like a filler at all. Here is for hoping at least one year of filler-free anime!
