Sci Fi Channel wrote:Fans of Twilight will be happy to hear that the vampire series may be adapted as an anime series in Japan, according to hints dropped by the cast and crew in commentaries on the film's March 21 DVD release.

Among its many bonus materials, the new DVD set features a commentary track by director Catherine Hardwicke and co-stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.

During the final sequence of the film, in which Stewart's Bella and Pattinson's Edward Cullen discuss transforming her into a vampire so the two of them can be together forever, Pattinson notices that he looks different from previous scenes. "I look Asian in this scene," Pattinson says. "I do, I look like an anime character."

Hardwicke responds, "Hey, I think there's going to be an anime version of this in Japan. So you will be an anime character."

Is Twilight getting adapted as a Japanese anime?

You know, I really wanted to find a picture of Alucard doing a facepalm, but we can just pretend that's a picture of Alucard instead of Picard.

An anime version of Twilight exists.

It's called...

You know what, I'm not even going to say it. I think we all know the answer. Because I was going to write this on the ANN forum topic, but then like 5 different people beat me to it.

I think a little part of me just died. This could be really hilarious, though. Or I might end up watching it and liking, who knows? XD

I guess there's going to be lots of static frames of characters staring at each other for three minutes at a time.

It doesn't count unless the vampires are required to have a bishe sparkle whenever they are in sunlight...sparkly vampires are what make Twilight's vampires literally stick out from the crowd...also for some reason this thread reminds me of this comic.

(note: I'm unaware of what the content is for the rest of that sight so...wander at your own risk...also, to any Twilight fans out there...I don't hate the book(seeing as how I've never read it nor do I have any intent on reading it), I just despise the movie. Just making that clear so nobody thinks I'm bashing the entire series by poking fun at it's sparkly vampires and posting that comic...)

Anyway...well...I guess a series based on Twilight could work as long as they distance it as far away from those involved in the movie as much as possible...of course I still wouldn't be interested in watching it at all...vampire romance just isn't my thing...

*slinks around nervously*

>_>
<_<

I liked (okay, I'll be honest) I loved Vampire Knight.

BUT... I really loathe Twilight. Seriously. (I've only read excerpts, but they've been lengthy enough to ascertain that I find the story trite and the writing poor. All this is in my humble opinoin! I'm just happy people are reading again, honestly! XD
But... as far as an anime... bleck. I'm soooooo sick and tired of hearing about Twilight.

hehe.. whateverrrrrrrr Edward Cullen. Give me Kaname sempai! rofl rofl XDDDD

It will be funny how many people (aka fangirls) suddenly become anime fans overnight if this really happens.

Haha, that's funny, and sadly, probably going to be true. That's all I'm going to say.

...that and... an anime? no... just... no. ok, I'm done.

...oh gosh...this has given me the worst image ever...

Imagine walking into an Anime convention...and instead of seeing 600 Naruto Cosplayers...you see 600 Twlight cosplayers being glomped by swarms of fangirls, including some you would never expect to be at a convention like that...and let's not forget the several panels on Twilight and why it's so much better then every other vampire related anime out there...

But perhaps even worse then that is the fact that by expanding to another form of media, Twilight is guaranteed to get even more fans. Meaning that a sequel to that movie is more then just a guarantee now...it's a certainty...

Considering that one of the opening lines of Vampire Knight goes something like "And at the academy, there's a special class that's full of vampires... and they're all gorgeous," I think the sparkly factor is sufficient.

Whatevs. I think it's a little lame to whine about Twilight; it's a kids' book, what does it matter, right?

0_0. That's pretty much all I can say right now. That and the fact that whenever I see "Edward" trying to look evil, I have to laugh.

Also, I love Vampire Knight, and I have to say that gorgeous =/= sparkly. No.

The problem I have with Twilight is not that it's a crappy children's book. Rather, the problem I have with it is all these fully grown adults saying it's a great book. :x

I kinda hope they do. I liked the books. I was actually tossing around ideas to rewrite it as a manga set in japan. No, really.

I think I just lost what little bit of respect I had...

I wouldn't classify Twilight as a children's book, that would be too much of a disservice to authors like Eoin Colfer and Crissida Cowell. Rather, I would quarantine the series to the Teen Fiction section where it can not accidentally hurt any good books by association.

Disclaimer: I have not read Twilight or seen the movie, watching the trailer and reading a few excerpts was plenty painful enough.

Now, wait a second. There are good books in the Teen Fiction section as well. At least, there are in my library.

After reading both Twilight and Vampire Knight, I don't think the former could measure up to the latter at all; story-wise, I mean. VK has somewhat of a real plot going on(besides the romance-y bishie vampire-ness) while Twilight struck me as simply a girl having her sparkly vampire dreams come true without even having to lift a finger.

Plus, really, in a rather logical fangirl sense: bishie vampires>sparkly vampires. *shrugs*

So, would Twilight make a good anime? To the fans of the books, most likely.
Optimistically though, it may create anime fans out of these Twili groupies, which may eventually open the door for them to see much better (vampire?) anime. *coughHellsingcough*. :D

Oh, don't worry. XD It's a good comparison.
It's the first series I thought of when I saw this thread too, because Twili and VK are a lot alike in some aspects.
I was thinking, when I first saw the title of this thread, "They're trying to make another VK? o.O We really only need one anime/manga like that, if at all. XD; " But that's just me. *shrugs*

We could argue all day about where Twilol belongs on the bookstore and library shelves, but I think we can all agree that it really doesn't belong in the bookstore or library at all, and rather belongs in the recycle bin behind said buildings. XD

Anyways, jokes aside, I agree with Shiroi on this. It's not that it's a badly written book, it's that it's a badly written book that's so highly acclaimed by so many ages of people. I honestly just don't get the draw of it, but that's just me. I'll go back to reading Hamlet now, kthx. XD
