First anime you ever saw

Mine was either "Swan Lake" or the "Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics" series. I must've been under ten.

Astro boy. Mid-1960s (pre-1967, to be sure). Didn't even know what anime was at the time...

My first Official Anime ever was Pokemon... but I'm told Heidi is Japanese Animation, which makes it anime and I watched that when I was teeny tiny...

Oh, probably Speed Racer, the hacked up version of Gatchaman known as G-Force, and Sailor Moon; but I was at least 7 or 8, and had no idea it was anime. The first one that I saw knowing it was anime was probably Rurouni Kenshin.

Voltron. But the first one I actually knew was anime was Ronin Warriors. That was a cool one!

Pokemon when I was in first grade. ^_^ But for anime without an abysmal dub, it was Spirited Away when I was about twelve.

Which kicked off the start of several awkward years as a young anime fan with a suspicious mother... *sigh* Fortunately she's perfectly fine with it now XDD

Pokemon (dubbed), back when I was like 5.

Though.... would Hello Kitty be considered an anime? I think I saw that show when I wasn't much older.

I knew of the Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z dubs when I was in elementary school but I never really watched them.

Doraemon, dubbed in Chinese. I actually thought it was a Chinese cartoon at the time; my parents rented tapes so that I could learn Chinese better (yeah, that ended up helping out tons =/).

Doraemon is the best <3.

"Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics"......I think it was that or the Christian anime with the flying house.....I think there was another one, but I'm not sure.

Since it was made in Japan and is an animated series, I guess I counts as anime, even if I watched the Afrikaans dub (which ROCKED): Heidi, Girl of the Alps That was when I was about 3 or 4 and older.

Other noteworthy mentions:
Pokemon, but that was when I was too young to resist my school's brainwashing that it was evil, and I wasn't really that hectically interested.

First official anime: Black Jack movie by the legendary Osamu Tezuka. I own it now. XD

Sailor Moon. And yes, Sailor Moon is still awesome. The Japanese version gives me more nostalgia than the English, though.

The first anime I ever watched would be Swan Lake but at the time since I was so little I just thought it was a cartoon with no special name attached to it. XD

Though when I knew what "anime" was it would be at Otakon 2004 when they made us sit through the first episode of Full Metal Alchemist 3 times at the L'arc~en~ciel concert. I recall the girl behind me whispering to her friend, "Do they think we're stupid? That if they keep playing the same episode there won't be a riot?" Good times. XD

I can't remember, but it was either Robotech or Speed Racer. I think it was Speed Racer though, before I even knew what anime was.

LOL. Me too, I think. Wow... Never thought I'd hear anyone mention that one again :thumb:.

Other than that though, my first was probably Samurai Pizza Cats, followed closely by Robotech (at which point my brother discovered what it was we were actually watching, and so our adventures into the world of anime began in earnest. :))

It's going to be Asto Boy or Gigantor, I have no idea which I saw first. But the first time I knew I was watching a Japanese cartoon (I certainly wouldn't have said 'anime' at the time) would be Speed Racer.

Apart from Superbook and Flying House when I was little, the first anime I ever saw would be a few random episodes of Bleach, FMA, and Witch Hunter Robin.. =)

Oh, and a few episodes of Serial Experiments Lain.

You know, it's funny to think that Nickeloden had this much anime on it back in the day and we didn't even know it!

Anyway, here's my list:

First Anime Without Knowing What the Heck Anime Was: "Noozles", "Maya the Bee", "Grimm Fairy Tales", "Digimon: Digital Monsters", "Pokemon", "Monster Rancher"

First REAL Anime: "Yu Yu Hakusho", "Cowboy Bebop", "Pilot Candidate" (Basically the entire Adult Swim Lineup as of 2002)

First anime... not to sure. I think it may have been Sailor Moon long ago when it aired on the USA Network. But my first anime rental was Kimagure Orange Road: Summers' Beginning or Tenchi Muyo in Love.
