Ok, remember all that fuss about no license because of the tv show until around 2009? Well, a curious thing happened. I FINALLY found a DVD rip of the series since I can't wait that long, noticed it was dual audio. Thought it was a little strange, wondering what language it could be, and it was english! At first I thought "maybe it's a fan dub?" since they are rare, but exist on the net. But no, I just quickly listened to a short clip and it sounded professional.

Ummm any idea with what's going on? Are they just pulling our leg with it?

I'll probably ask on the ANN forums too if there's no idea here to see what's going on...

It got pick up by Madman Entertainment, which is a company in Australia and New Zealand and they dub it and has been release over there.

Ooooh I think I remember news on there.

As a bit of an odd question, I guess... Madman dubs don't contain Aussie accents?^^ Maybe that's what threw me off.

Not that I know of.

There is not much info on the cast list for the Madman's dub of Tales of the Earthsea, but I know that Tara Platt (who is noteble for the dub voices for video games and anime titles like Fate/stay night, MÄR, Naruto and Tokko) and also Willem Dafoe work on this movie.

Funny that we are talking about the dub of Tales of the Earthsea.

Today on ANN and animeonline, they have reported the dub cast list for it.

Here are a few notes about it:

The movie got a screening in April for Australia.

Now for the news about the dvd.

This what was reported from animeonline.com

Alright, I probably should have posted this earlier in the day, but it took some time for me to get over exactly how bizarre this cast list is. So here it is, straight from Nausicaa.net: the English voice cast for Ghibli's Tales of Earthsea (a.k.a. Gedo Senki):

Sparrowhawk (aka Ged) - Timothy Dalton
Cob - Willem Dafoe
Arren - Matt Levin
Hare - Cheech Marin
Tenar - Mariska Hargitay
Therru - Blaire Restaneo

A former James Bond plays Ged? Mariska Hargitay does something that is NOT Law & Order? And Cheech Marin is in this at all? This is either the greatest dub cast of all time, or another sign of the pending Otakulypse.

This dub is apparently included in the Japanese release of the film, by the way, for those of you interested in importing. • gia
