How many different characters have the same name? Here's some to start off with:

Shinji
Shinji Ikari from Neon Genesis Evangellion
Shinji Matou from Fate/Stay Night

Haruhi
Haruhi Suzumiya from The Melancholy of Suzimiya Haruhi
Haruhi Fujioka from Ouran High School Host Club
Haruhi Inohara from W-Wish

Rin
Rin Tsuchimi from Shuffle!
Rin Tosaka from Fate/Stay Night

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a Haruhi in Furuba? Just wondering.

I can think of three Sora, but one is from a video game/manga, another is from a manga, and then the other is from an anime. They are:

Sora Naegino (Kaleido Star)
Sora Kitazawa (Kitchen Princess)
Sora [don't know his last name] (Kingdom Hearts)

Sakura Shinguji (Sakura Wars)
Sakura Kinomoto (Card Captor Sakura)
Sakura Haruno (Naruto)

Haruka in Noein
Sailor Moon
Xenoglossia
Megaman
Love Hina
Battle Royale
Sister Princess
etc. etc. etc.

I'll bet the absolute winner is going to be either 'Ichigo' or 'Hajime', though...

Mitsuki Sanada and Mistuki Rara in Dual
Mitsuki in Full Moon wo gashite

Nami Yamigumo in Silent Mobius
Nami in One Piece

Ami Sailor Moon
Ami Detective Conan/Case Closed

This doesn't count but one episode of Silent Mobius is named Kagome,Kagome
and we also have Kagome on Inuyasha(ok,like I said it doesn't count because
the Kagome,Kagome in Silent Mobius is a reference to a song but still interesting none the less)

And let's not forget Kenshin and the fact that MS' father's name is Ken,but wheter or not it is short for Kenshin I don't really know.

You'd think that certain names are popular enough creators wouldn't use them so much. In any case, the posts here have already superseded my knowledge.

Fish and Chips wrote:Sora (Air)

Unless you already meant this, we can add Sora Takeuchi from Air Gear.

This is an uneducated guess, but I'd throw my lot in with "Sakura."

Not that it would win the contest, but how about:

Kaoru and Hikaru - female twins in Moonphase
Kaoru and Hikaru - male twins in Ouran High School Host Club

Thought it was funny both sets of twins had the same names... XD

I was about to say the same thing. I've only heard of Ichigo from Bleach and the only Hajime I know is Saitou Hajime. I knew that had to be more 'Sakura's out there. XD

I only know the Ichigo from Bleach, too.

Well, when I posted that, I had thought of three Ichigos off the top of my head, so I thought for sure there would be more if I tried. I couldn't come up with any, though, so I headed to that there Internet to find out how many more I could turn up.

To my surprise, I had nearly the entire list already in my head. This is a very bad sign. I've done so much anime/manga, I'm turning into a human search engine.

The three I came up with:
Of course, Ichigo from Bleach...

But I'm surprised nobody else remembers Ichigo, the main character of Tokyo Mew Mew! (Mew Mew Power in the English dub).

Okay, so the anime is more recent than the manga. My kids were hooked on the manga when they were smaller. That's my excuse for knowing this, and I'm sticking to it!

In addition, there's an Ichigo in Onegai Teacher / Onegai Twins (two series, but same character in both.)

The one I didn't come up with is an Ichigo in Kamikaze Girls, a manga, light novel and live-action movie. Not surprising, since I'm not familiar with this title.

Seems there's also a 'Hina Ichigo' in Rozen Maiden. Surname instead of given name. Haven't seen this series, so I can't comment.

In addition to Rurouni Kenshin, I can think of
Hajime characters in:

Pretear
Muryou (aka Shingu). (Main character, in fact, despite the series being named for another character.)
Kindaichi Case Files (also the main character.)

I tried searching for more, but was thwarted by the thousands of Saitou Hajime fan sites and the seemingly hundreds of Manga and Anime industry
creators with the name of Hajime! (It's a little like being named 'John' in English. It just means 'First', as in 'First Born'. Just like 'Ichiro' just means 'Number One Son'. That's right, all you old Charlie Chan fans. There really are guys named 'Number One Son' out there!)

Hmmmm....

This...

And this...

Although, you can reference almost ANYTHING with his first name.

Back to seriousness.

I actually don't know very much. In fact, that was my best attempt for the moment. XD Although I will admit you can find many Sakura's...

And here I thought Ichiro meant 'Number 1 in the hearts of Mariners Fans
following Junior!'

hmmm:I just realized something that Takato's teacher's first name in
Digimon:Tamers is probably Nami so she should be added to the Nami list along with Nami Yamigumo from Silent Mobius and Nami from One Piece.
So that makes at least three Namis now.

If spelling doesn't matter there is also:
Katsumi Liqueur(Silent Mobius)
Kasumi Tendo(Ranma 1/2)

Then also:
Meryl (Trigun)
Merle (Escaflowne)
if spelling isn't counted.

I'm going to throw in another Nami and see if it works; I don't know what they're from, so if it's a DND, please don't hurt me. It was someone my friend had mentioned: Nami Natsumi.

Of the top of my head, it doesn't ring a bell. Any idea what series this is from?

The reason I'm curious is that ordinarily, this would be two given names, although 'Natsume' is a surname. (Or maybe Nami can be one? I don't recall ever seeing it, but the other possibility is this is in Japanese naming order.)

Ah, that will be another popular name, given it's a reference to the historic ninja. I know I've seen this in a number of fairly minor series, but off the top of my head I can't recall the titles.

EricTheFred wrote:Any idea what series this is from?

Google suggests a fanservice series called Jungle de Ikou.

Tea(dub of Yu-Gi-Oh!)
Tia(Zatchbell)
I don't rightly know if it really counts since Tea is Tea only in the dub whereas in the original Japanese her name is actually Anzu.

Not that this wins the contest, but there were two characters named Kaito in the Mermaid Melody series. That didn't confuse the heck out of me for a white. :eyeroll:
