Are there any anime that has a lot of Celtic folklore, or takes place in that region of the world (or at least has a Celtic soundtrack)...
Yeah, I'm mainly looking for a tv series, but if there's any manga on the subject please do mention it....
I'm mainly looking for anime stuff for a friend who's really into Celtic stuff...If there's any offensive/graphic content in your reccomendations please do mention it.....thanks....

Hmmm...I don't know of any, but that would be very interesting to find celtic themed anime or manga (as I really like that theme). I will keep an eye on this thread and tell you if I find anything myself.

As far as soundtracks go, I think the .hack//SIGN OST sounds pretty Celtic.

Record of Lodoss War, perhaps? Elves, at the least.

I honestly can't think of anything. That new Highlander anime they keep promoting looks sort of medievalish, but that's about it :/ I think medieval/fantasy RPGish might be the closest they come :/

Fate/Stay Night features Cú Chulainn in a minor sporting roll, but I wouldn't recommend that based soley on "Celtic myths in Anime, please."

My understanding, from what I have read,is that Fate/Stay Night is more or less based on the Grail legends which were themselves quite universal themes in Mediveal Europe.Although the Arthur Cycle used it it was also used in other non-Celtic related story cycles. And in fact the finished product that Malory produced as part of the Mort d'Arthur were pieced together from different bits of traditions he came across(as was the entire Mort d'Arthur
itself).
Elves,I think, are more or less a general northwestern European theme like
trolls and gnomes and there certainly aren't necessarily 'Celtic' in and of themselves. For example Tolkien's Elves would seem to derive more or less from his studies of Anglo-Saxon lore.
And as far as it goes there are some people who would argue the use of the word 'Celtic' as being a bona fide description.

Loosely. Some of the epic spirits may be drawn out of Medieval mythology, but that's as far as the series dips into it. The Holy Grail at the center bares only the namesake of the original cup of Christ (otherwise, the Burial Agency would have already taken great pains to have it "Retrieved").

If I said Berserk would I be laughed at and mentally struck with baseball bats?

I can't believe no one's mentioned Scrapped Princess! It's very celtic in its soundtrack, and the world/setting is very glamorized medieval European. It's also pretty clean, and highly enjoyable. Definitely recommended.
Last Exile's soundtrack is also highly influenced by Celtic ambiance.
Lastly, there's a soundtrack for Suikoden III called the Celtic collection.

Well if you try Record of Lodoss War try the OVA first,as I think that comes before the tv series.
