Tsubasa to date?

Postby Jeikobu » Thu May 31, 2007 2:57 pm

Hi, I am curious if anyone can give a Christian opinion on the Tsubasa Chronicle anime to where it is today. I am very interested in this one, and have seen the first 9 eps I believe, but have doubts about the bad content down the road, especially when it comes to spiritual content, such as bad religion and sorcery. Can anyone fill me in, and give me their opinion on the cleanliness of this anime? I am a conservative Christian and try to be very careful of what I watch.

P.S.: I've seen reviews like what's on AnimeAngels.net, but that only covers the very early parts of the series. As for the review here, it only seems to cover the movie. I'm looking for information dating from around episode 10 to around where the series is in Japan right now.

(While I haven't watched very much of the second season (I think I finished Piffle, and then the one with the bus, but that's it), but I have seen the entire first season, and based on that it's nothing you should be worried about, if you're still watching it after the first nine episodes. The only thing I can think of is in one world later in the season, there's monsters called "oni," which is frequently translated to "demon" in English (thought it's closer to monster than the Christian sense of demons).)

(But I also haven't seen much of the second season, and I also know that CLAMP is writing past the second, and the manga is considerably darker than the anime. So after season two, when whatever they're doing (No one knows if it's OVAs, movies, or another season) comes out, you should be more cautious about that.)

I have read up to volume 12 of the manga, and have seen the entire first DVD of the US release of the anime. Content wise, the manga has steered clear of anything overtly lude or sexually oriented. There is some minor language, typically on the part of Kurogane, and of course some action/fantasy violence. The show has alot of fantasy/sci fi elements considering many of the different worlds that Syoaran's group travels to in order to retrieve the feathers that will restore Sakura's memory. Thus things such as magic, or things similar to that, are rather abundant at times, though nothing more I'd would than the kind of stuff you might experience in a console RPG such as one of the Final Fantasy titles. Syoaran, Kurogane, and Fai all have the ability to summon what they refer to as their Kudan, being animalistic energy/spirit representations of their personalities and the strengths of their hearts, each of these corresponding with a particular element (fire, water, wind, etc.). If you have any qualms about this (basically it's a more action-packed Pokemon aspect of the manga/show), then it's something to be aware of. I have aboslutely loved the manga so far, and the anime right away seems to be doing a fair job of remaining loyal to the majority of the manga. The English dub is excellent, as is the Japanese track. As a side note, Vic Mignogna of Fullmetal Alchemist fame plays Fai in the English dub and embodies the character amazingly well :-) Hope some of this information helps! God bless

Farer along in the manga there which a bit of magic and not just little things later there are vampires and such 1-12 is fine as far as magic goes. But 13-20 is differant but i don't think the anime is getting that far so the anime is fine but the manga is questionable but not really bad.
These are my drawings. Tell me what you think okey. =3
