CN is screwing up MAR and Prince of Tennis!

 If you've been watching MAR and Prince of Tennis on Toonami, you've probably noticed that they aren't even airing the episodes correctly. Instead, they're jumping over several episodes. My theory is that they're doing this to catch up with the Jetstream versions of both, but it's a bad idea. What about those of us who can't use Jetstream? Besides, it makes the stories quite difficult to follow, as we don't get to see important plot points. (For example, Nanashi showed up last week without us seeing his intro the week before. Also, we only got to see the tail end of Echizen's match with the Seigaku captain. The match should've aired too, because I thought it was a good one. When I first watched it, I was sure Echizen was going to lose for once! What are they thinking? I hope they don't eventually decide to drop them because the inevitably confused viewers give up, which will probably happen. This is the dumbest thing Cartoon Network has done since they moved Yu Yu Hakusho, .hack, and Gundam Seed to early morning broadcasts without advertising them.

I know how you are feeling. The idiotic antics of CN puts any otaku on edge. One reason why I am so happy with having DSL is have to no longer deal with CN. CN is getting worse and worse by the minute. They are real stupid, because ratings for anime will continue to plummet if Cn keeps up their idiotic antics. I feel sorry for you! You should start a petition. I would sign it 500 times! :thumb:

Especially when both shows are actually pretty good. I wouldn't mind if I hated them.

Yes I notice the skipping of episodes on those shows. At first I thought I missed the episodes, now I know CN is skipping episodes. CN is really ruining it for their otaku viewers. :stressed:

They're skipping episodes because most people have already seen them on Jetstream. it's a great idea in theory (because I personally don't want to re-watch them so soon, and I know others with the same opinion) but problems like this were sure to arise.

I really don't think I would say that most people have already seen them on Jetstream. Not everybody who watches Toonami watches it on the internet. I've seen many more complaints about this then people who approve of it.

In fact, if CN is trying to get more people to watch these shows, then this is certainly not the way to go about it.

I would have to agree that it is a bad idea and I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way about it.
My thought though is if they are skipping to keep up with Jetstream then why bother airing the pilot episodes at all?
What is rather irritating is not only do those of us who haven't been watching the
Jetstream versions find ourselves wondering what the heck is going on,but also
we miss a lot of important information.
For example who is Nanashi and how did he join Ginta and co.?
When did Snow join them?
Where are they in Mar Heaven?
When did Jack and Ed join Ginta and Dorothy?
Of course on Prince of Tennis the questions are:
What happened to the other matches Ryoma was in?
What about the non-tennis elements of the story?
And who was that perv from the last ep. they showed with the cat?

The perv is Ryoma's dad.

Ryoma's dad is my favorite character.

I also fail to understand how seeing girls in full clothing in a magazine makes him a perv. Is it because they're young or something?

Anyways, I only follow Jetstream? Which episodes did they skip to?

I can see them skipping PoT but not MAR.

They went from ep 4 to ep 8. Oh, and Nanashi is the leader of the Theives Guild. They're helping out Ginta and Co.

As for .hack and Gundam Seed, you can blame Bandai just as much as you can blame CN for airing it in the early morning. Bandai doesn't care when Cartoon Network airs their anime. Just as long as they get their money from it, they are happy.

They are real stupid, because ratings for anime will continue to plummet if Cn keeps up their idiotic antics.

You can blame the anime fans for plummet in ratings. Anime has not been that much of a hot seller on Toonami and Adult Swim.

I know CN is skipping episodes. CN is really ruining it for their otaku viewers.

That can be flip too. Otaku's are ruining the ratings just as much as we can say that CN is ruining it for anime fans.

I do agree with MasterDias on the matter of them skipping the eps. That is a bad marketing plan on CN's part. This the only thing that I see foolish on CN's part.

It's because he is only interested in "Big things" and he doesn't want to see "Small things" if you catch my drift. That stupid old man

Adult Swim, I can probably agree with you about.
But, nearly everything currently on Toonami is anime...

That is true. But you have to remember a few things. The ratings are fair for most of the anime on Toonami. The draw that they are getting, are the ones that semi-anime fans and not big time anime fans.

Naruto and Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo the ones now that I would say are the hits for Toonami for now.

Really, the only anime that has really done well for Toonami is, Big O, Gundam Wing, Tenchi, DBZ.

Animes like Rurouni Kenshin were doom from the start, when they aired on Toonami. The ratings for RK were not that good and when they moved it to Adult Swim, it still didn't do well.

Nope, its coming back.

beau99 report in the The network TV: anime schedule and schedule changes thread that CN has renewed Bo-Bo-Bo for another season.

Arlong Park claimed BoBoBo returns in February since CN needed to buy new episodes.

I read somewhere when Rurouni Kenshin ran it was on the top 10 most watched shows list at one time. I wish I could show you guys a source but it was a long time ago when it was still on.

However, I'm positive that top 10 article referred to children's programming seeing how it was second to Lizzie McGuire. XD

I agree though. The AS timeslot is alot less popular than that of AS.

Is anyone besides me horrified at the choice of Voice Actors on Prince of Tennis? They don't sound anything like their Japanese counterparts and several voices don't match the characters' personalities.

Like poor Kaidoh! He needs a low, gravelly voice to go with that hissing noise he's supposed to make. And don't get me started on the Seigaku coach's voice. She's supposed to be a grandmother for goodness sake! The voice coming out of her mouth is more apropriate for a gorgeous femme fatale than a grandma.

OK, rant over now.

I just decided not to watch it because of there skipping. Im guessing there not going to show these shows very long there just fishing for people to go online. The thing that pisses me off is there lets show half a series then quit like Or change the time without telling anyone. Such as no more bo-bo-bo, no more one piece, chaged times on gundam seed and yu yu hakusho, quit caseclosed. and now who knows about Zatch Bell.

Well Bobobo is going to reair on CN as stated in previous posts, and lately there have only been reruns for Zatch Bell. (so far, new episodes could air but I am not sure.)

Detective Conan (aka: Case Close) ended, because it didn't do too well on tv. Cartoon Network only bought the rights to air the first 50 eps. Since the anime didn't do well on tv, they give up the rights.

FUNimation Channel airs Case Close now.

Again, Yu Yu Hakusho was hit and miss for CN and they move it to a later time. They did show all of the eps of YYH, and it now airs on Funimation Channel.

Again, as I said before. Bandai doesn't care where CN put their anime on or at what time. Bandai just wants the money off the tv rights deal and nothing more.

Is that a bad move on their part. Yes it is, and this maybe one of the reasons why they maybe hurting in the money dept.

This past episode on Zatch bell was a brand new one.
As far as the VAs on POT goes,Wendee Lee is in it as well as being in MAR with
Michelle Ruff which is a major reason I watch them.
The reason I called Ryoma's dad a perv is the reaction he had when the girl came into the house. You don't hide an innocent magazine the way he did and her reaction was certainly that it was not the type of magazine you wish to leave lying
around. So they might have done something to the magazine to make it less
suggestive but the reaction says otherwise.
Perhaps one reason for flipping through the episodes in such a careless manner is that they want to show as much of POT and MAR as possible before new eps of
Bobobo air.
Still not a good excuse for screwing it up for those of us trying to follow on the
Toonami Saturday night version.
I for one would be interesting in getting the MAR DVD if I could.
As far as sports anime,I will say it again I am more interested in Princess Nine
than Prince of Tennis.

Well honestly I don't think skipping some PoT would be that big of a loss, provided they picked the "right" episodes to skip. Important matches like Echizen and the Captain should not be skipped. However having watched the whole first season of PoT I honestly can't remember most of them since they all kind of blend together after the first 60 or so episodes. Obviously I'm not a die hard PoT fan. Although why is CN even showing PoT? Sports animes are not nearly as popular in the US as they are in Japan. What are they thinking?

Evidentally PoT is the #2 most-watched program on Jetstream.

They wanted to give the top two Jetstream programs a run on TV. #1 is Hikaru no Go. They don't have the rights to broadcast it, so that's why you have MAR on as well.

It has for POT but evidently not quite for MAR yet.As MAR was up to ep.#19
and I believe they skipped a whole story arch again to get there.

Bobobo is on at 8:30 so that now there will be only one Naruto per week.
