Funimation Announces Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles

Funimation reconfirmed their announcement of their aquisition of the DVD rights to Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles today at San Diego Comic-Con, and they added that they were going to actively look into television and theatrical release options as well.

Finally! It took them forever to find someone to release it. I have been going crazy ever since I heard about "The Shadow Chronicles".

Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles will come out on DVD in November 21.

I'm sad to ask this, but what is the Shadow Chronicles? Is it a new offspring of the macross saga or something along those lines?

Its a sequel of Robotech only and doesn't have anything to do with Macross. Harmony Gold is trying to bring back Robotech and if the movie does well, they are thinking of making anime tv show out of it, but we will see.

One thing to note:

Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles was named the Best Animated Sci-Fi Feature at the 2006 International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival.

I'm not to worried about it. I think they are doing this, so that they can put the movie out on the big screen. They have talk about doing that in summer and never heard a word about it since then.

Is this a continuation of the original Robotech or is it set in another universe that is parallel to the original?

I hope they keep the spirit of the original. I would hate to see Robotech go the way of most things they're trying to 'redo' these days.

Its a continuation of the Robotech.
