This year, we've seen a number of great (and not so great) anime characters die, and all of them were pretty painful to watch. Which one really tugged at your heart strings and made you, (and be honest) break down and cry?

Actually, I think you'd like to put spoiler tags on the subject line.

But my vote goes for the priest.

You say 2005, but Trigun was an anime from the pre-DVD era
None made me cry but the most moving was...

I would say the death of
Chihiro of Fushigi Yuugi was the most dramatic... where he had to refuse medical assistance to prevent a monster who possessed him from recovering. The rest of the group had to watch him suffer an agonizing death and couldn't do a thing about it
The second most moving was
The death of Spike in Cowboy Bebop. Yes, he died, end of argument. :P
Personally the death of
Wolfwood left me thinking Vash was a jerk. What's that, you're walking by and bleeding? Oh well, have fun, I'll stand here and do nothing. A real friend would have cared.

And in disc 7 when Wolfwood hit Vash, I thought he deserved it

I think that the death of Nina was the most dramatic out of the choices. I did cry, and it really did haunt me sort of. It was tragic.

The little innocent girl, turned into a monster by her father, then was killed by a blast by Scar.
It's amazing how humans can come up with these scenarios...

Personally none of the above mentioned scenes made me cry. Basically cause I don't watch any of them besides Trigun and even though Wolfwood's death scene was done spectaculary, my nomination in the Trigun death scene would go to Rem Savrem.

But anyways - my personal favorite death scene that affected me the most was Tomoe from Samurai X. However I did not watch that in 2005. My favorite death in the year of 2005 would proably be Alex Rowe from Last Exile.

Hughes in FMA.Mainly because he was such a likeable character so you had to feel for his family when it happened.
Over all though of all the shows I have watched over the years the most shocking
death is still that of Robert 'Roy' Device in Silent Mobius.

I'd say the most tragic death was from AIR...
Misuzu AND Kanna. I mean, it's JUST right when things are going good! And then... oy :/
Interesting vote count:

Interesting that nobody thought the Kimishima death scene was dramatic!

What shocked me the most out of all the anime deaths was, in Arc the Lad, when...
Merly died. The scene was extremely emotional, and I cried very hard.
I really loved Scheris, even though she was with Holy. She and Mimiri were the only members you could truly root for at the beginning. It was very moving, and I hated seeing her go.

If you read the manga, Scheris doesn't die. (I don't know why they changed it from the manga.)

Dang it. I haven't seen the last 2 DVDs of Trigun yet, and those appear to be the best ones. :P

I'm not sure, really. I haven't seen too many death scenes lately. Almost noone dies in OP, and I alreay knew the ones that would so it was kinda a "eh, that's sad" deal. There were a couple of "surprising" ones in Naruto, but nothing "emotional" for me (though I'm still ticked about Dosu; he was kewl).

I gotta see more FMA. :cries:
