 Usso-kun's first review! However, due to limted time *angel pops up on Usso's shoulder 'Please! ANYWAYS, on to the review.
Oh, P.S this will have a summary, a character guide, and a review + a Christian rating review; Don't flip out over the summary....if you have doubts, just read my CR....

Summary:
Mayura is a high school girl with a fixation on the supernatural, and really wants to be a detective when she grows up. She meets Loki, a small boy who runs a detective agency. As Loki’s assistant, Mayura and her Friends, most of whom are actually Norse gods, solve spooky mysteries and help out those in need.

Loki-
Although he seems like a wealthy kid running a detective agency, this boy is really Loki. Loki is the famous Norse God of tricks and mischief. However, one of his practical jokes went too far, and he was exiled to Earth, in a human child’s body no less.
However, with his faithful butler, he spends the time running a detective agency and solving supernatural problems to pass time. He has a dry, witty personality, and always thinks with his head before his heart. Since this is almost the exact opposite of Mayura, their banter and chemistry is very humorous. This doesn’t seem like the type of behavior excepted from the Jokester god, though…
Although you’d think a God like Loki wouldn’t have very powerful abilities, he is actually an expert at banishing and identifying monsters and mythical items, and his staff-like weapon is used expertly against his foes.

Mayura Daidouzi- Mayura is a cheerful, ditzy teenage girl who is obsessed with the Supernatural. She loves a good “mystery!â€

The first thing I have to say about this anime is: Do NOT be fooled by the opening and ending of this show. With their punk rock-esque guitars, grainy black and white footage, blood red eyes and constant darkness, they might have you thinking that this anime is along the lines of Hellsing or Boogiepop Phantom. However, that’s actually very far from the truth; Matantei Loki Rangarok is actually a cute, fun little series that’s not very deep or groundbreaking, but is very amusing instead.

The gimmick in Loki is that 85% of the cast is some Norse (That’s Norwegian) God or Goddess reincarnated/sent to earth/ banned. Seeing the thunder god Thor applying for a part time job, or the God of fertility save on Toilet paper is quite funny, and it’s refreshing from the usual “Shinto-Buddhistâ€

It sounds like some interesting light entertainment, even if it is *way* off base on the Norse mythology. Norse isn't just Nowegian BTW, but Scandanavian in general (the same language and religion in Denmark and Sweden too).
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

I've seen reviews of this series in Newtype USA and it looks interesting. I too like the deviation from the norm with the use of Norse mythology. As for your review, I think it was really good. It was long, but I was easily able to skim over it and find the parts I needed to read.

I've always been somewhat interested in Norse mythology. It sounds like a unique premise. I wonder when a US company will pick it up and bring it to the states.

This sounds like a fun anime, but I would warn people that this anime has nothing to do with the Korean manhwa named Ragnarok. About the only thing they have in common is that that both have Norse mythology in them. I love what I read of the Ah! My Goddess manga and the movie and that also has a heavy dose of Norse Mythology. I'm guessing that the Ragnarok manhwa is probably more accurate in the portrayal of Norse Mythology than Ah! My Goddess or Dectivite Loki Ragnarok, but I'm not 100% sure.

Then again, I could be wrong. Loki is dead serious in the Ragnarok manhwa and an assassian.

It would be hard for it to be less accurate (I've seen the movie Ah! My Goddess movie)

I absolutely love this series!!! The thing I thought was wierd though was that the first episode is almost nothing like the rest of the series. It has a "ghost" in it and the rest of the series all deals with Norse stuff that is "evil" that Loki must fight.

And I will confess... I cried all through the last episode. ;_; *sniff* It was so good.
