Fruits Basket: Anime vs. Manga

Okay, I'm an obsessive Fruits Basket fan (that's just a bit of set up for those of you who haven't seen me around or haven't read my signature.)

So-- here's my question. I'm about to go stir crazy with this two months between my favorite mangas. So I was thinking, why not buy the anime?
So enters my delimna. If I watch the anime, is that gonna take away from the manga? Maybe some of you who have already seen the anime can tell what you think.

Thanks!

I saw the anime before I read the manga, and I don't think it hurt at all! The anime doesn't explain everything in-depth--just gives the story a nice overview--and I'm expecting the manga to fill in the gaps. I think it'd be equitable to watching a story on the news and reading about it in the newspaper--yes they will both cover the same basics, but the newspaper will be more indepth.

I say go for it, buy the anime; you'll love it!

I don't know about Fruits Basket, but I usually watch the anime first because it isn't usually as in-depth as the manga!

I loved the anime and at the time I really didn't care for manga but a friend lent the first volume to me and I read it after watching the whole series it didn't take away from the manga at all for me. I don't mind spoilers so that might play into my opinion, but with so many unanswered questions in the anime it's definately going to be more in depth in the manga so it shouldn't mess anything up too badly.

ya but anyway http://www.sphiatt.com/catalog/ this guy has crazy cheap anime and free shiping (wich means its gonna be slow but.. hey if you have no money like me the wait is worth it) And aslong as you dont mind not having the original dvds since these are sorta bootlegs but I bough fruits basket for only 29 bucks and i had no troubls with it.

They're not *sort of* bootlegs -- they are bootlegs. However, we're not going to get into a discussion of their morality here (just in case anyone feels like they have an opinion on this topic to express), as those turn into protracted arguments.

Back to Furuba.

I was wondering about that myself. If there is, I'd probably save for that. You always get more punch for your buck that way.

Oh, nuts. Oh, well, might just have to buy it ONE. VOLUME. AT. A. TIME. *gasp* Actually I think I'm gonna buy it all at once and watch it it a couple days. That would be fun.

Owning the first four manga and all four DVDs myself, I can say both are totally awesome. ^_^ I've watched the DVDs so many times, I don't remember which ones have which episodes. My manga are almost permanentely in an open position. I bought the Furuba sound track and a shoulder bag with the Furuba logo. I'm totally obsessive over it. Too bad i didn't see anything Hatori at Otakon. I so woulda bought it.

I like the manga much better than theanime. I do think it would takeaway from the manga to watch it first.^^
