Unique or Wierd?

The real heart of CAA; discuss specific series, issues, and things related to anime here.

I can't say I pay terrible attention to whether a series is mainstream or not, though if it is more so I am more likely to come into contact with it.

Myoti wrote:-One Piece - Obviously. Alot of people would assosciate this with those other "neverending" series like Inu Yasha and DBZ, but there's just something about it that feels different. Maybe it's just that it tends to feel more fun and light-hearted than those other series. I dunno. :/

I think that is largely a matter of perception. Though I haven't become bored with One Piece yet, I can't say it isn't essentially neverending.

Myoti wrote:-Ultimate Muscle - Raise your hand if you've heard of it. Now raise your hand if you like it. This show is basically WWF, but a whole lot funnier and wierder...

I've seen enough of it to know I have no interest in seeing any more. I can't say much more without being needlessly derogatory.

Myoti wrote:-Tsubasa - I don't know if this is an anime yet, but I love the manga (or what I've seen of it). It basically mixes several Clamp tales into this sort of alternate universe traveling story. The other side of the story, XXX Holic, is also pretty good, but a bit less actioney...

It is an anime, though I've seen none of it. I read the manga if it comes my way, but it is pretty much a typical CLAMP work.

Myoti wrote:-Shaman King - The anime, please. The manga is just kinda wierd. O_o

I'm not really fond of either. Also, I believe this series contains more Suspension of Actual Movement than any other I have seen.

I probably know what you're talking about, but please explain what that is.

Here's the link to Osaka's review of Air...She explains it better than I can! It's kind of hard to explain what it's about exactly, since there's so much stuff that goes on, but here you go anyways...

I understand. May I ask why there are no shoujo-ai titles in the do not discuss list?

Simply because there have been no specific shoojo-ai titles that have become a problem. This doesn't mean that we tacitly support the genre, however.

That said, my original post was not per se related to the DnD, but to the general point on our FAQ about our stance on *-ai and yaoi/yuri. Please honour it.

"Everyone's weird but me and thee... and sometimes I wonder about thee" is one of my favorite quotes. :) I'm weird. I know it and enjoy it! (Hence the little ditty under my avatar!) So if you enjoy stuff that other people aren't into, smile and go right on ahead in your weirdness! It's better not to be just like everyone else.

My current favorite anime is also a rarely known gem... Soukyuu No Fafner. Definitely not a Christian view of the meaning of life, but very interesting nonetheless. I only know 2 others who have watched it. And that's perfectly fine with me!
