Why are you bringing this back up again? You're really intent on making yourself look foolish, aren't you?

I said they were bringing it back, and posted a link/quote from the ASMB. But, if you want to look like a fool and say you found it first, when my last post is stamped with time and date, then go ahead.

....as a reporter... (I am getting a minor in Journalism, and I will be editor for my college paper next year,) I take a bit of an offence to that...^^; being a repoter isn't "about having fun." It's a perk, sure...but it's more than that. To be a reporter is to write objectively about a topic, and not to bring life to YOURSELF but to your story...

Whether you made a reference to a REAL reporter, or just bringing the news, the story is the most important not the person who brings it...
~~~~
On another note, I dreamed about the showing of Eureka 7 XDD...they added a new theme in my dream...:/ and then I woke up...
I am glad it was just a Log Error, (whatever that is) and that AS will own up and show it tomorrow...
you guys will enjoy it!
I wonder if AS will whip up any new (apologetic, or at least explanatory) bumpers to run before the re-showing?
ACTUALLY...I asked the same thing on the ASMB just yesterday! (DUDE! I SWEAR, we must have been separated at birth or something!)
And I thought I was bad...I took up to listening to the Eureka 7 Soundtrack in my car...I don't know what it is, but there's something about "Sakura" that makes great driving music! I do get some strange looks when I'm playing "Flow" in my car though...especially during the little "Rap" part in the middle. Wonder why?
My guess for this is, they have a log on how long a show is and know how much time they have for it and ads. So, maybe someone goof on logging how long the ep was and thought they had it right.
But that is a guess on it. I was also thought it a log error that they are talking about could be something close to a computer log error, but that just wouldn't sound right.
I think ep 50 is just a little longer then the other eps.
I do believe I'll save my gloating for Saturday. I am going all out tomorrow, especially since I got the weekend off! I'm buying snacks, and the 5th E7 DVD!
Don't hold me to that though...I'm still wondering if I should finish off my Nerima Daikon Brothers Collection with Volume 3.
*contented sigh*
Wow, what a difference a few minutes can make, huh? Those bookend scenes added a LOT. Hearing Eureka and Renton say "The End" ...yeah.
...I still think it should have been longer, just to better milk the emotional impact of the ending. But hey, my emotions were still quite adequately manipulated :)
I'm curious, though. Is there anything that still didn't make it onto our TVs?
Actually, it looks as though the episode stayed intact from what was shown on The Fix.
We're not the only one's who's satisfied with the uncut ending--the ASMB is at peace]
That being said, here's my modified review of the last episode:
Now that we finally filled in the gaps left from last Saturday's massacare, I think we can all finally say goodbye to Eureka Seven on the Saturday block. There were several scenes in this episode that I would like to bring special attention to:
1. Eureka's Opening Monologue: I am so thankful to Adult Swim for restoring this scene because we finally get to see the almost-obvious Evangelion reference. Towards the end of Eureka's monologue, we see her floating in the air just like Rei Ayanami in the end credits of Neon Genesis Evangelion.
2. Renton's Clies: In the scene when Talho and the kids reunite, there's a quick shot of Renton's shoes under the table. The same one's he's worn for the last 50 episodes/1 year. Is anyone else shocked that they lasted THAT long?!
3. Something Missing:: During Renton's clothing transformation, we see him change his shoes, socks, and jacket. Yet, he leaves behind the "fanny pack" that he's had on since the start of the series! WHOO-HOO! Guess nobody got around to telling him that Fanny Packs went out WAAAAY back in the day!
4. Rentons' Shinji-like Breakdown: Am I the only one who thought that Renton at the beginning of the episode REALLY mirrored a Shinji-esque breakdown from Neon Genesis Evangelion?
5. The Gekko's "Red Alert" Klaxxon: Did anyone else think this sounded SO MUCH COOLER than Star Trek's Red Alert Alarm?! Especially's Woz's exclamation of "NOT GOOD!"
6. Maurice's "Papa" line: SO COOL!!!!
7. Renton's "I CAN FLY!!!!!" Line: Now that I know where this line came from (Tossback to first episode when Renton jumped off the cliff to deliver the Amita drive to Eureka) it makes more sense, but I still think this line is cheezy. As I said earler, someone is going to make an Anime Music Video with R.Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly", I just guarantee it.
8. The Hairpin Situation: When Renton and Eureka are finally reunited, he gives her hairpin back and puts it in her hair. WHY?!?! IMHO, she looks better WITHOUT it! Floppy haired Eureka looked better to me than pinned hair Eureka.
9. Nirvash's Voice: Meh...it's okay...I guess...guess I'm just so used to hearing someone else saying "The Nirvash says this" or "The Nirvash says that" or "The Nirvash says I only take 10W-50 Synthetic Oil".
10. The One Year Later Epilogue: Ah, the long awaited epilogue! I love how it echoes the first episode with the diner. I do have a small nitpick, though. In the dub, Grandpa says that it's a Thurston tradition to eat a "Big Burg"...someone help me out here--what the heck are burgs?! Did he mean "Burgers"? Other than that, the end scenes was perfect--much more satisfying than seeing "one year later" then a fade to black!
11. One Final Note: I would like to give extreme props to Johnny Young Bosch for his portrail of Renton during the last couple of episodes--especially this episode. If you notice, Renton's voice since he transformed to get Eureka has deepened by a few octaves. Guess he's not just a Power Ranger--he's a great V/A too!
Kudos to Adult Swim for realizing their mistake and showing that you really do appreciate your viewers!
Speaking of the epilogue, what was Grampa reading at the resturant?
Dear old grandpapa is reading the adoption papers linking Eureka, Maurice, Mater and Linck to the Thurston family. It's also a family lineage, showing living and dead relatives Those two "16"'s towards the top are Eureka and Renton's names.
Here's a link to the TV version:
And a link to the translation:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/Magil/vlcsnap-9167540.jpg
Someone on the ASMB reports that the slashed out names were people who passed away and that two people (One reportedly Renton's mom) passed away on the same day he was born. No wonder he and Holland seemed so much alike during this particular episode.
Reflecting on it, I'm actually a little surprised that I haven't been annoyed at the open ended nature of Eureka and Renton's fate. I mean, the attempt to straddle the line between resolution (we know they return to Earth) and ambiguity (one year passes and... blinking lights in the woods?) is kind of frustrating when you really chew on it. And yet, this is one of the few anime that really didn't disappoint me with the final act.
I guess it's because this particular question mark wasn't ever a part of the main story. What really bugs me is when a plot thread that's run through the ENTIRE SHOW is left hanging (you know the ones I mean). Since this show really did resolve all the MAJOR threads - saving the world, what happened to Renton's sis, Dominic and Anemone, when THE KISS would finally happen - littler issue that were only introduced in a single episode don't really register.
Well, I liked it. That was quite moving. I was wondering--does anyone think the Control Cluster is supposed to represent Heaven?
Not in a Judeo-Christian sense, I don't think. There definitely seems to be heavy shades of enlightenment/Nirvana, though.
They why is everyone praying for them to "come back"? If the last thing we see before before the time jump is Renton and Eueka becoming blips of light, and the only thing we see afterwards is everyone missing them and those two blips of light STILL blips of light, I don't really see how that's the logical conclusion.
Also, I thought it was Grandpa who officially adopted the kids, and the references to Eureka and Renton on the papers was a bit of a white lie to honor "Mama and Papa" (after all, the literally Earth shaking events that happened prior no doubt left a number of gaps in a lot of legal records)
I would agree with Kitchan's assessment. During the scene when Renton is getting geared up for the final battle (Right before he leaves), theres a 3 second shot of his hand with a ring in it. One could assume that he was giving that ring to Eureka.
The piece of paper grandpa-pa is holding kinda stands behind Kitchan's assessment:
I freely acknowledge that I've been known to put the pieces together in horrifically wrong ways before, so please don't think I'm trying to definitively argue a different point, this is just me trying to understand what's happening.
The thing that keeps tripping me up is that Eureka and Renton just aren't seen in the flashforward. Why would they get married and adopt the kids only to leave them with Grandpa and disappear into the woods somewhere? Besides, wouldn't going off on their own into seclusion kind of go against the instructions Nirvash gave them before leaving?
Really, I can't quite swallow them being away by cramming it into any theory, but the assumption that they've been there the whole time seems the least problematic to me. (emphasis on "seems" and "least")
Heh...well...no comment there...I'm just going to let my little smiley speak for itself. :hug: :cool:
I thought they were just repeating the last one.
In a way they did, but the version that aired this Saturday included Eureka's opening monologue and the epilogue that was cut during the first airing.
Adult Swim re-aired it uncut for fear of being completely maimed by the hoardes of E7 fans.
umm...actually, it was a HUGE part of the story. And to be more accurate they cut about 4:26 minutes from the story. It added more depth to the series and an ending that made sense! Rather than just Gonzy phasing out and Eureka and Renton spiraling towards earth...O_o; so to say that the extra 2 minutes didn't add anything is a blantant exaggeration. I really feel that these two minutes made the episode 10x better...because we know, or at least have an inkling as to what happened a year later..
Blitz I will say that they were just now getting back from whereever it was they were...remember how hard it was to get back from that place in the first place? Dewey had to destroy whatever barrier it was that kept them there... O_O Plus they were only little tiny lights....they didn't even have the nirvash to travel in...
I mean, why would anyone want to see a moon with their names carved in it, if they already had the two with them all along? That would seem a little pointless to me...
Not to mention remember what that guy from Rayout said? "They aren't gonna come back to us." I think that means that they knew it was gonna take a while for them to come back... Maybe they had some other stuff to do? besides what Socks disgreetly suggests. I mean... I would think they are pretty much ambassadors know wouldn't you say?
See how fun it is to imagine what that year meant? I mean wow!
I really hope they continue this series!!!
My research shows that Nirvash etched the words "Renton Loves Eureka" in the moon. I really wish that AS would've translated that for the viewers, though.
Tell THAT to the thousands of Eureka Seven fans on the Adult Swim Message Boards that swamped the forums after it aired. I've NEVER seen so many topics about any anime before since the first TV airing of Evangelion! Besides, you had to see it to see what was cut to get the real impact of it.
Adult Swim's Anime audience needs to chill down as it is. Reading some of their reactions to the April Fools prank they pulled, you'd think they were out for bloody revenge. Come on, people, lighten up.
Well, keep in mind that unless you have digital cable or a satellite, Adult Swim (for the time being) is the only place where you can watch anime (the good stuff, I should say) short of DVD's or the internet. Adult Swim knows this and thus feels as though they can treat their anime fans anyway they feel fit.
The point is moot. This is Adult Swim were dealing with. We know how they roll. And even if it wasn't, it was April Fools. They miss one episode, which would be pushed back anyway just to next week, and they rant like they've been cheated. I read one person was going to write an angry letter of protest to the Adult Swim offices. Yeah, because that will accomplish anything.
Sorry, bit of a tangent there, but hey, broke a thousand.
