Toonami is a big one for me, but borrowing from friends and buying dvds that I have heard good stuff from about rounds out my list.

Cartoon Network & TechTV. Blockbuster has some titles to rent. And I buy from whoever has the better price when I have the money. Which is usually Best Buy, Amazon.com, AnimeNation, and small anime specialty stores.

Amazon, GameStop, and (very, very rarely) Suncoast.

Please don't promote fansub sellers here. The forums at animeondvd.com, the anime cafe, otakuboards, and animenewsnetwork allow talk about fansubs, but you can't link to or recommend fansub places. It's ironic how a Christian forum promotes illegal fansubs and bootlegs of LINCENSED series and these other forums don't allow fansub/fanscan links at all.

BTW, Animeniacs IS a fansub seller and they DO sell illegal fansubs, including fansubs of lincensed series. They lie about their fansubs being legal and have no shame. Animeniacs should not be promoted here.

I like to use Best Buy, Gamestop, and Suncoast for my anime.

The management and administration will decide what we promote and do not promote, thank you, or what is permissible to mention. And this particular thread is asking a broad question, not soliciting opinions on the legality of a particular store.

Apparhently my last post caused some confusion, so I'll clarify:
CAA does not officially endorse or condemn Animeniacs.com. Yes, we are aware there are some arguments about its legality, but they have been covered in other topics, which is why I was so quick to redirect this thread. Also, some of you may be aware that there are members here of high rank that have a link to that site in their sig. I will not ask him take the link off, just like I don't ask any of you to censor your signatures. Higher-up or not, he is entitled to expressing his opinion as well, and the inclusion of this controversial link in his signature is not to be taken as an official endorsement. Now, back on topic. Sorry for the confusion this may have caused.

No where. Seriously.
I don't have cable so the only animes I watch are on broadcast TV. Local Blockbuster has nothing of interest. Library only has a few titles of interest. I haven't yet really started an anime collection.
There are a few titles I have my eye on that I might buy. I almost bought something from Bestbuy once.

best buy, wal mart, hastings, barnes and noble, um... can't mention the meny wonderful trading sites like majik here but a lot of people here may know...

But for rental, Blockbuster doesn't usually have anything good and even when they do, they'll put an 18+ rating on "My neighbor Totoro" just for being anime, so it could harm your reputation... I'd go to hollywood video if you have one, they have a much bigger selection (at least the ones I've been to) and they should be easier to find... But, they're not as good as they used to be... THey used to have a dedicated animation section, but as soon as everything went to DVD they stopped... When they get rid of their VHS collections they may get things back into the old setup... That will be good...

Anyhow, yeah... Suncoast, Sam Goody, comic book stores, some places even have dedicated anime stores, but all of those places are usually expensive... Asian grocery stores sometimes have anime imports but they're probably bootlegs from Hong Kong with horrible translations.

Anime is shown on TV on local asian channels, on cartoon network (toonami and Adult Swim) on tech TV, WB, fox, and on premium channels like Action, Showtime Beyond, and every once and a while metropolis or Princess mononoke show up on Starz or Starz Cinema. Oh, and pay per view shows some bigger name anime releases (currently Cowboy Bebop) so that's my resources exausted.

I'd really pay attention to TechTV, they are getting some anime that stations like Cartoon Network would NEVER pick up (stuff like "Serial Experiments Lain" and "Boogiepop Phantom") so it's not the normal faire that you see on TV. It's the only place you'll see the more niche type shows.

Plus, there is a new station that's VOD which means you pay for 1 week periods (like halfway between PPV and premium) and you can watch them like VCR's... That's only on digital cable. It's only going to be ADV productions. It's the anime network but I can't find the link because I can't get to ADV's website... Grrr...

For us Canadians, YTV seems to be our top anime broadcast source. (Possibly Teletoon as well, but I'd have to check into that.)

I know exactly how you feel my friend. I basically have to surf the net for good anime reviews and then, because I'm a poor highscooler, slowly obtain the money to buy them - some times without even having seen them before. :( O well. I just started an anime collection and it's growin veeery slowly.

Well, actually, MNT's american version was handled by Warner Brothers, so they didn't do that there, but I think "Grave of the Fireflies" got an 18+ sticker... All of the anime they have there other than stuff released by disney or warner brothers have 18+ warnings... It's really annoying.

I prefer Hollywood video, they tend to have a bigger anime selection... I got no clue about other rental stores...

Aside from the "18+" stigma, all anime other than disney and WB released ones also get stuck in "Action" in Blockbuster... And, unfortunately, now it's that way in Hollywood, but that is only because VHS hasn't completely phased out yet... In a year or so, non-disney type animation will probably get it's own section again... So instead of having "Serial Experiments Lain" being put with Terminator, it's instead put with South park... Hmm... Well, at least all the animation will be conveniently together! I'll be happy when that happens again!
