Seriously, what in the world is up with that show? I mean, its like Dragonball Z on steroids. I can't follow that show for the life of me, and while I think the fighting scenes are pretty sweet, they hurt my eyes.

In fact, I woke up only to find myself on the floor with 4 hours of time having passed. If anyone could, please tell me what is going on in that show, at least a basic premise. Oh, and if you like it tell me why, I think I could enjoy it if I could get through an episode without epillepsy.

Can't help ya.
All I remember from when I watched it at a friends house, English Dubbed many years ago, is that heads exploded when he punched you, and the voice of one of the villains was Shredder from the original Ninja Turtles cartoon.

Never heard of it, but DBZ on steroids sounds pretty scary...

*Shin* Hokuto no Shin Ken? You mean the "new" episode where Glay (or was it Gackt?) that sung the ending song? All I have to say is that it's one of the most vividly graphic shonen anime I ever seen. Though it's even deeper in shonen-ness then DBZ, I'm pretty fond of it for that reason alone. Yay! Classic shonen! (Does Kenshiro's "WATATATATATATATATATATA~~TAAA!!" while rapidly punching air)

Anyway, I really don't recall anything like DBZ in HSK, at least nothing in matters to 'flashy lights'. There's just a bunch of fist to face fighting and a LOT of people having their insides bursting out.

The basic premise to get you through is that the apocalypse has happened and majority of the world is in ruins. Yadayadayada, Kenshiro is the heir to the Fist of the North Star and goes around looking for his brother (I think... someone correct me if I'm wrong--is his borther even still alive????). A lot of bloody and grusome fights ensue, yadayadayada.

Truthfully, I wasn't paying much attention to the plot. I was too busy gushing at the shonen-ness. (Kenshiro: "You're already dead." THAT IS SUCH A CLASSIC ONE-LINER!!! *gush*)

I can't remember if it's his brother or not. Kenshiro and ... the other guy (brother?) learned two opposing forms of martial arts. Kenshiro - Fist of the North Star and Other Guy - Fist of the South Star.

It's way high on the violent scale and pretty dated. It's not for everyone, but it's certainly one-of-a-kind. Where else can someone's head explode from a finger poke to the gut?

I haven't seen the anime yet, but I read the manga and played the arcade game...

the arcade game was pretty cool, you wear boxing gloves and there's this six punching pads, a monitor that shows some scenes from the anime.
the whole premise is to imitate the moves kenshiro did on the villains.
this game showed my inner fool *picture a guy wearing silly boxing gloves and punching two-at-a-time pads while screaming: watatatata!!!!*

It isn't meant to be comedy, but it's so stupid its funny! I swear, I could hardly breathe my first time watching it. Sounds like those really old martial arts movies...meh, *In a high pitched voice: WAYAYA! HIYA! WATATATATATA! Then BOOM as some guy's head explodes or something. It's not that graphic with the blood...usually the scene is shown with a funny blackground and the blood looks like white light. Then one time, he punched a guy in the nose and it seemed like mud. I don't believe I've EVER laughed so hard at an Anime, not even Trigun. You gotta love his techniques, though. I mean...stabbing some guy in both sides of the temple with your fingers? Lol. "You have three seconds to live. *Turns and walks off.*"
Then The guy goes BOOOOOOM, Lol.

Yeah I liked it until I passed out. Then when I came around I wished I could have stuck with it. The attack I saw was when the main character, the one who learned the fighting technique of Fist of the North Star, was fighting this huge giant demon creature inside this stadium. Then the guy says something like," This is the seven point star dragon destroyer attack, banned by the ancient Greek masters!"

That was the last thing I remember before my brain exploded. I just could no longer comprehend what was happening and my body went into a comatose state. Since then I've seen a couple episodes but I have trouble finishing it because my mind tends to wander during the show. Looks like it would be really good. I'll probably buy it soon.
