Full Moon - Worth Watching?

I've read about three-four volumes of the manga and disliked it. Mitsuki annoyed me with her

Sorry if that seems a bit harsh, but that just kind of bugged me. The anime seems a lot more fun and not so... dramatic. Can someone tell me the differences between the anime and manga? I may very well watch the series. And maybe even ending up LIKING Mitsuki.

I watched the last episode(had to see what all the buzz was about) and it moved me to tears, which is why I'm considering watching the entire series.

Well, honestly, if you don't like the manga, I have a feeling you're not going to like the anime either. She's still pretty obsessed with Eichi...and it does get dramatic in the last half, and there's a lot of filler, considering they stretched seven volumes over 50-some episodes.

It's not DRAMA that bothers me, it's MELODRAMA. I think one of the things that bugged me about Mitsuki is she didn't act enough like a kid when she was a kid. In the anime, she seems more childish(in a good way).

Whether or not the anime is melodramatic is a matter of opinion, I suppose. I think it's melodramatic, but there are a lot of people here that will say otherwise.

I happen to really like Full Moon XD I felt she was a tad obsessive, however it all builds up to good measure.

Do I recommend the anime? Yes! (I've never read it sadly)

Oh, and it has amazing music =D

Actually, I thought the level of drama was pretty well done, myself. XD Then again, it's my favorite series, so I'm a little biased. XD I will agree that Mitsuki almost never acts her age (seriously, Tanemura should have made her 15 or 16, rather than 12 XD), but I found that I often forgot about the ages, anyways.

I will say that the anime does one thing better than the manga, and that's

[SPOILER]the way Mitsuki finds out about Eichi's death. In the manga, she's known about it since it happened; in the anime, she finds out after coming to America, and it hits her like a 20 pound brick. That actually allows for more emotion/drama, but it seems like it's more natural, since...well, what would you do if you found out someone like that died? XD[/SPOILER]

So yeah, I know there are several people who agree that that plot point was carried out better in the anime than the manga.

In the end, though, it's really left up to your personal taste. You may just not like the series, and that's fine, since not everyone is going to like it. I'd still give it a shot if I were you, though. The anime and manga are vastly different, so you may like how the anime handles things better. Besides, you get to hear all the cool songs in the anime! XD Hope that helped a little!

XD But in her first post, she said she's already read to vol. 4 anyways, so she knows the big plot twist already. But yeah, to anyone else who hasn't read/watched Full Moon, watch out, 'cause that's a BIG spoiler. XD;

Other points to consider (even though you've already made up your mind) :

Both the manga and the anime are supreme examples of Tanemura-sensei's genius. She combines good characters and angsty backgrounds together with beautiful art and interesting story. I agree with Cobalt that Eichi was handled much better in the anime than the manga, although I know several others (my boyfriend included) who think it was the other way around. It's a great series about hope, friendship, death and life done in a way that isn't, in my opinion, cliche at all. I think my favorite part of this series was the depth of the relationships, not just between Mitsuki and the Shinigamiiz, but even the interplay between side characters was great and well-thought out. The anime was filler'd, yeah, but I still found it amusing and enjoyable up to the bitter end. So yeah, while I definitely believe manga>>>> anime, I still think you should check it out.
