Go Ask Alice

Postby GwenneZ » Mon Jan 05, 2009 6:25 pm

Hey "Go Ask Alice" is a book which is actually one girls two diaries put together. It tell about her Struggles with drugs and relationships. Anyone heard of it? If you've read it what do you think? I don't know it may sound odd, but since I want to be a counselor when I grow up I like reading about people and their problems with the outside world.

I read it. It almost made me cry. That girl had so much potential, and then drugs ruined it all. Such a sad story, especially because it's true.

I read it, and it was heartwrenching, but I have my doubts as to whether it's a real diary or not.

I've read it many times. It's interesting but...I dunno. I like the book but I kind of doubt some of the authenticity.

I really, REALLY liked it.
I thought it was interesting how she said the drugs made her feel like she wanted to take the place of a male in the sexual relationship and how it scared her because she wasn't supposed to be like that.

The stuff with the maggots though, that was really horrible... I can't imagine going through that kind of stuff.

I should also point out this book was banned because people thought it was promoting drugs.

Only certain schools in certain areas banned it from their libraries. There's no national ban on it or anything.

I have not read it, but now I'm in the same boat as animewarrior. XD makes me curious, though I don't know if I'll ever get around to actually reading it. *sigh*

I read it some time ago. I remember not being able to put it down until I'd finished it.

What bothered me the most about it is that (if I remember correctly), the girl seemed to be improving and entering a better time in her life, when all of a sudden she relapsed and overdosed. Quite sad, but realistic.

YOu'd be amazed at the reasons people ban books, Sapphi.

I know, right? It makes me mad that they would ban good books like this.
