Books so good that you couldn't put them down

The "Homecoming" series of books by Cynthia Voight. Especially the second one "Dicey's Song". It's just SO good!

Also, I can't help but pick up my well worn copy of "Anime Explosion" by Patrick Drazen. This book is a MUST READ for all anime fans--beginners and those who THINK they know everything there is to know.

I also enjoy "Dude, Where's My Country" by Michael Moore and "Iron Chef: The Official Book" (Which I have in my desk drawer at work and read every so often!)

Umm... This sounds fun.

To Kill A Mockingbird

The works of Roald Dahl

The Anime Companion 1 and 2 (these books are a MUST for any anime fan who wants to know what those Japanese culture references are in their shows. I like #1 better but that's just personal taste.)

The Placebo Chronicles (Basically it's the best of the best of the so called "MAD Magazine for Doctors" called Placebo Journal. It's a crude book but I can't stop laughing at it!)

Harry Potter

Fahrenheit 451

Fast Food Nation and it's teen oriented sequel Chew On This

Rise of the Ogre (The Gorillaz' personal autobiography)

The Westing Game

...I have a hard time putting down a book!!!!!

Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead, and Xenocide of the Ender's Game series by Orson SCott Card, all were amazing, not sure about Children of the Mind yet, I'm no more than 20 pages into it.

The frist three Wheel of Time boosk by Robert Jordan were all amazing, IMO.

Castaways of the Flying Dutchman and The Angel's Command by Brian Jacques were both awesome books as well.

The Book of FIve Rings by Miyamoto Musashi is also an amazing book, I've read it two or three times and I plan to read it again soon.

"I wanna heal, I wanna feel what I thought was never real
I wanna let go of the pain I’ve held so long
(Erase all the pain till it’s gone)
I wanna heal, I wanna feel like I’m close to something real
I wanna find something I’ve wanted all along
Somewhere I belong

I will never know myself until I do this on my own
And I will never feel anything else, until my wounds are healed
I will never be anything till I break away from me
I will break away, I'll find myself today

Star Wars: Jedi Apprentice - The Rising Force (by Jude Watson, I think). Before I knew what a really good book was, this book captivated me. I thought it was the best book I'd ever read. Now it's woefully inadequate, but I'll always remember this book as one that made me sweat and shiver with excitement.
The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. The first time I read the first three books, I read them each in one sitting. They're so engrossing, exciting, and entertaining. I've stopped reading them so fast only because of their ever-increasing length and because I now read them out loud to my mother and brother. (Can't wait for book seven!!! :hits_self )
The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi. Maybe it was just because I was on a six-hour bus trip when I read it, but I couldn't stop reading for more than five minutes or so. That book is wonderful, and I was thrilled when I saw on IMDb that someone's at least planning to make a movie of it.
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Again, I was on a long bus trip and had basically nothing else to do but read it. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would immediately recommend it to anyone who likes thoughtful, psychological books.
His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman. That book had like three climaxes! I put down everything else and just read and read and read. I didn't like the rest of the trilogy as much, but that first book was good.
Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. I read the majority of it in one day. It's so funny and wonderful, and it didn't hurt that I'd seen the Miyazaki movie of it and wanted to see how similar it was.
Myst: The Book of Atrus by Rand and Robyn Miller. Quite apart from my interest in it because of the Myst games, it was a wonderful book. My dad expressed surprise and maybe even exasperation that someone had made a book of a video game, but aren't the Myst games centered around books anyway? I loved the romance in it too.

Well, that's all that comes to mind right now. I'm sure there are others, though....
You can find out things about the past that you never knew. And from what you've learned, you may see some things differently in the present. You're the one that changes. Not the past.
- Ellone, Final Fantasy VIII

If I tried to list all of my favorite books, it would probably end up taking half the night, so instead ill right a few of my favorite authors:

C.S. Lewis (Narnia, Mere Christianity, etc.)
J.R.R. Tokien (The Silmarillian, LOTR, etc.)
Stephen R. Lawhead (The Pendragon Cycle, Hall of the Dragon King Trilogy, etc.)
Ted Dekker (Thr33, Obsessed, House, Circle Trilogy, etc.)
Frank Peretti (The Oath, This Present Darkness, Monster, etc.)
J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter of course)
Eoin Colfer (The Artemis Fowl Series)
Terry Brooks (The Shannara Series)
R.A. Salvatore (The Drizzt Do'Urden Series)
Edgar Allen Poe (For his awesomely creepy poems)
Timothy Zahn (The Thrawn Trilogy, The Hand of Thrawn Duology, etc.)
All of the Star Wars books, I have read 80+ of them so far.

As for what books I couldn't put down:

Obessessed by Ted Dekker (One of his best, highly recommended for people who like action books, and don't mind a moderate amount of violence.)

The Oath by Frank Peretti (This is the scariest book I have ever read in my life. Moderate/Heavy violence, blood, and gore.)

Any of the Artemis Fowl books by Eoin Colfer (These are brilliant, funny books that will keep your interest all the way through. There is possibly one swear word in the whole series.)

The Oath by Frank Peretti (In fact, ANYTHING by Frank Peretti, but especially The Oath and Prophet.)

lol, Nate! Why am I not surprised? ;)
Well other than the Bible I read Monster by Frank Peretti, and I really couldn't stop reading it! It was a bit on the gross side and too violent in some areas, but it was a good thrilling read.
God Bless,

-Rora by James Byron Huggins. Novelization of the persecution of the Waldenses during the Spanish Inquisition, and the general who managed to fend them off using Biblical tactics. It's a pretty rare book now though.
-The Dragonlance Legends trilogy. *shameless plug*
-Hart's Hope by Orson Scott Card. One of the most deeply disturbing and moving fantasies I have ever read.
-Every. Single. One. Of. Jim. Butcher's. Dresden. Files. Novels.
-In the Heart of the Sea, the true story behind Moby Dick.
-Carlucci, a collection of three novels by Richard Paul Russo. Probably the only cyberpunk fiction I'll ever truly enjoy, with a healthy dash of noir and mystery.

The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco. Although I loved and enjoyed his other book I've read last year, Foucault's Pendulum more, I found this one to be easier and quicker to read. It's last pages is very disheartening, though.

The Rose stands in its ancient name, naked names are all we have...

I love a lot of books, but books that I could literally not put down... hmm... that would be:

Every single one of Ted Dekker's books (though Saint was the least put-downable of them all)

The Thrawn Trilogy (Timothy Zahn)

Operation Firebrand Trilogy (Jefferson Scott)

Suzanne Collins' Gregor books... although I don't think I've read an entire one in one sitting, I always end up reading them faster than I mean to, and feel like I can barely put them down.

I think Of Mice and Men was a book I read in one sitting. Other than that, I can't recall any off the top of my head. There are lots of books I felt like I couldn't put down, but usually only short ones, or ones I read when I was sick actually got read without a break.
