Chemistry, O how I loathe thee

Postby Mushishi » Mon Feb 19, 2007 7:01 pm

Hey everyone. As you can tell, I hate chemistry just about worse than anything in the realm of education. I'm taking a first year honors chemistry course, as a junior in highschool, and I'm going crazy. Are there any good online resources that effectively explain chemistry and its key concepts? Unfortunately I have a very inept teacher - understandably, because she has a lot going on in her life. But still, I'm really struggling with chemistry on the whole.

I wish I had a specific question for everyone, but we just finished a magnesium oxide lab that would be relatively hard to explain. (if anyone has heard of that lab that deals with the Law of Definite Proportions, tell me!!)

So, if anyone has any good chem sites, throw them out there and I would be most appreciative. Many thanks!

PS: (You might hear more from me later with questions on Electromagnetic radiation...what we're doing now...ugh)

Have you tried doing a Wikipedia search for the concepts you're confused about?

First of all, nice to know I'm not the only one on the site who is a Mushishi fan.

Now this brings back memories (I'm a senior year chemistry major in college), I loved this lab. I actually did it for my science project my junior year in high school.

Because this is a simple, classic lab, there are plenty of on-line resources for this exact lab. Just run it through Google. As for anyone site for a general breakdown of chemistry, I've never found one. It's better to be topic specific.
