The View from the Equator

Writing this at 12:51 AM local time, so I should be saying "Good morning."
I'm sharikqah, from Singapore, hence the title. I first came to know about this site because I was doing a film module on Japanese film & Anime at my university in 2008. This site was also mentioned in a 2007 edition of Plugged In magazine, an entertainment guide of the Focus on the Family series of magazine.
Without doubt, I find the idea of Christians discussing & examining Anime a necessary step towards a more wholesome view of media. There's a need for us to see the sacred in the profane, questionable and postmodern.
I'm also hoping that the contributions to this site will help me to learn to use Anime & Manga as platforms for evangelism - which I feel is a under-utilized, under-researched area.
About myself: I'm a sociology student (so forgive me if I ramble off too much academics), who enjoys long-distance running, soccer, hockey, tchoukball, writing poetry and short prose & drinking tea
I serve in media ministry, mainly online web maintenance & newsletter publishing. Additional ministry interests beyond Anime are Christian-Muslim dialogue & sports ministry.
