Titanic

Postby Heart of Sword » Mon Jun 07, 2004 6:21 am

I just watched this yesterday...a little too long maybe and it could've done without some of the innuendo/nudity, but overall Titanic was a great movie. Anybody else seen this?

I have seen it many times ^_^;

There are a lot of good things about it, but I think it was highly overrated when it came out. I coulda done without all the sexual content, yes. ¬_¬

I'm almost ashamed to say I'm one of the few guys who seemed to like the movie. Not enough to watch it often, but I thought it was a pretty good movie, aside from the nudity and whatnot.

I personally didn't like it. But then again, it's not my type of movie.

I liked Titanic, but because it was such a big success a lot people hate it. The way these people feel about is the same way I feel about "The Matrix".

Titanic is one of my favorite movies, despite its success, nudity, sex, and other fanservice-y stuff. It told a story about love and um, I'm a hopeless romantic...

I liked it...but it was really sad...I figured it would be about the general sinking of the ship...but noooooo they had to have a love story in it...But still I can see why they did that...why would someone wanna watch a movie that would be no different than an hour special on the history channel :p

I saw some of it when it came on TV but didn't really care for it although it had some pretty good disaster special effects near the end.

It was merely okay. I was rather iritated by it. The nudity realy ticked me off*. Overall, I thoguh it was rather stupid and still wander why it was such a big hit. Though I must say, I nearly cried because of all the deaths, but I laughed when one of them fell off and hit the prop on the way down. I know, not very compassionate.

Speaking of laughing...I haven't seen Titanic, but my best friend (who I usually agree with) did. He didn't like it....and to quote him...:

"I did not cry when Leonardo fell in the water. I laughed."

I didn't care much for it. All the characters were pretty selfish. I laughed at the end, though...lots. Except for those shots of the children you knew wouldn't make it. Yeah, the extras made me sad, but I laughed a lot at the main characters.

And they sound best dubbed in Japanese. *nodnod* "Jakku!" "Rouzu!!"

Saw it 4 time in the theater, cried every time. Hooked with the soundtrack.

If you missed the ending, you missed out cause that's the best part of the film.

OK! How goes it!

Uh saw it in the theater....won it. Yeah not a huge fan but eh it wasn't terrible.
Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn't fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go. But it's comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you're very lucky, a plane ride away.

(hyperbole) About half the people in the theater cheered when
Leo's character died.
About half cried. I was like
Yup, he's dead
My time seeing this movie wasn't pleasant to say the least. And the movie's not really all that good, either.

i dunno. i have mixed feelings about this movie. history fascinates me, so i loved the whole historical part of it. but what brought me down was the whole not-so-appropriate scenes. i mean, it was already such a great movie, and then when i saw that, my opinion of it just died. i still like it, but not as much as i could have. i suppose the director needed to "keep up with the times." psh.

"I did not cry when Leonardo fell in the water. I laughed."

THAT was funny. I giggled too and embarrassed myself. -.-

However I do think it might have deserved an "R" rating, just because of the innappropriate scenes, all the language (duct tapes everyone's mouths shut) and the fact that all those people died.

Well I think it was one of the most overrated movie of the 90's. It just had a coat of cheesyness over it that I couldn't shrug off. I too couldn't help laughing at some of the exaggerated death scenes. Also I think Leonardo is one of the worst actors ever the only decent performance I've ever seen him do is Catch Me If You Can.

I liked the whole love story but it irked me that almost the whole movie revolved around nudity. I watched it at my friends house and at the end I cried and she laughed. o.O It is rather funny though.... "I'll never let go, Jack! *drop*"

I hated this movie. It took itself sooo seriously. The characters are all like, "our love lasts forever!" Oh, wait, no it doesn't, 'cause pretty-boy just DROWNED. After spending his time hooking up with a rich girl who is way outta his league, he DROWNS like a chump, with nothing to show for it but another notch on his 'Sexual Encounters' belt. How many times do you think the characters had premarital sex before they met each other? It only took them a matter of days to get to third base so let's make a conservative estimate of 10 or 12 different partners, each. Wow. I'm sure you must be real devoted to each other and stuff, with that track record. How many people today play the same game with themselves? How many meet someone and say "This is the one," have sex, then get bored and look for somebody new? The truth is, it happens all the time. A huge number of marriages end in divorce. People get married and think the lovey-dovey feelings are just gonna go on forever. WRONG. People want to believe that romantic love is the highest ideal in the universe or something. WRONG AGAIN guys. The last thing I want to do is spend two and a half hours hearing about somebody's selfish premarital relationship.

[/rant]

To me the best part was the second half...thats the part I really wanted to see...The actual sinking...plus the drama between everyone was a nice add-in too...the only thing that got me was when everyone was being lowered into the boats (when leo and kate got spearated) i was imagining me on that boat and waving bye to my dad...I cried...it was so depressing
