80s cartoons

I can't remember if anyone posted a similar one to this or not, but I was curious how many of you all remeber those wonderful cartoons from the 80s which, for me anyway, paved the way to becoming an anime fan.

Gumby, though that may or may not have been the 80's, well I still dig it. Other ones I enjoyed included Smurfs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Carebears, Wuzzles, Muppet Babies, Tailspin, Samurai Pizza Cats, Voltron, and there are others but my mind has gone stale at the moment.

· Hello Kitty (used to be on reeeally early on Saturday...)
· Care Bears (was never my fave, but I watched it.)
· There used to be this cartoon on the Disney Channel about raccoons...it's kind of obscure but I always liked it anyway.
· Garfield! The animated specials, and the Saturday series :3
· I don't know if any of these were made in the 80s, but I used to watch lots of Charlie Brown animated specials. :]

I've never seen the cartoon, but I've played the game Little Nemo: The Dream Master. (A bit off topic, but I highly recommend the game if you can find it anywhere. It's one of Capcom's finest pieces of work. )

Speaking of 80's stuff, has anyone ever seen Little Nemo? I never got a chance to see it and I was wondering if it's good.

We have the VHS copy of "Little Nemo." It's a film that is comparable to Kiki's Delivery Service.

Little Nemo, after falling asleep, flies around on his bed - maybe they watched "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" - and he visits this fantasy world, Slumberland, where he meets Princess Camille. Well, the King of the land, Camille's dad, makes him his heir and immediately bestows him with a sceptre and key, which can unlock the dark. Nemo, after being convinced by his mischievous friend, uses the key, "just to see" what's behind the door it unlocks and then unleashes the Nightmares on Slumberland. Well, the adventure begins as he and his friends, including a cute little flying squirrel, Icarus embark on a journey to save the King and all of Slumberland.

Anyway, it's worth a watch, and when my kids were little they wanted to watch this over and over again. The animation is well done and the story is cute. It would be nice to watch it again, if it ever came out on DVD.

Cartoons of the 80s? Wasn't the Ninja Turtle cartoons brought out in the 90s?

Anyway, I don't remember any I liked in the 80s, since I didn't really watch cartoons until the 90s when my kids were little. I don't even remember watching T.V. in the 80's. *hehe*

Edit: Yeah, you're right, it was on Saturday mornings in the early 90's.

Adding to many of the ones already listed, I'll have to add:

Disney's Adventures of the Gummy Bears
Fat Albert
Bugs and Daffy (and the other Loonie Toons, various programs)

on this list but not a real favorite (mostly due to the fact that it was a big cheezy and that the idea I already had for a similar situation/story was so much cooler):

I watched a LOT of 80's cartoons, especially a lot of the early-mid 80's cartoons. I remember almost all the cartoons people have listed so far. Some that stand out in my mind are:

Dungeons and Dragons
Spider Man and his Amazing Friends
Space Ghost, The Herculoids, etc.
The Smurfs

Does anyone remember some show with pandas who tried to defeat this evil entity? I think it was called Panda-monium or Pandemonium or something like that.

Also, one I can never seem to remember--it was kind of in the vein of Space Ghost, etc.--it had these people who rode in space vehicles--I think there were three of them, and they had colors like orange and green...

Looking at that schedule brought many tears to my eyes, it's bOOtiful. I'm serious, oh and those Wuzzles always freaked me out. Wasn't there one that was a monkey or something and one was a bear yet they had tails...strange stuff.... >. >

Oh and Little Nemo, that game along with A Boy and His Blob were definative 80's games. Like whoa!

Yeah, I agree. The 80s were somewhat of a barran wasteland in regard to animation for me having grown up with the giants of Looney Toons, Heckle and Jeckle, the older Tom and Jerry, Screwball Squirrel (really anything by Tex Avery) Beanie and Cecil, etc.

Plus the fact that these were my college and seminary years. The only one I do remember watching on a regular basis was when I would come home from class in the afternoon in college. Inspector Gadget would come on around 4:00 or 4:30. That one was pretty good.

muppet babies was my favorite cartoon. other ones i watched: looney tunes, tom and jerry, garfield and friends, chip 'n dale rescue rangers. there's more but i can't remember them. muppet babies was defintely my favorite one, but i think i already said that. gonzo used to be my nickname. *sigh* those were the good ole days...

Yeah I remember it, those two real-life guys who played the plumber duo were actually more fitting than the two actors who potrayed them in that awful movie. Teh cartoon was great, I loved when it turned Mario World, Yoshi!

And I am so glad someone mentioned Darkwing Duck...though I think that may have came out in the early 90's. Well I love that show, I had all the figures including that evil counterpart to Darkwing Duck. I remember some characters from Duck Tales came out in that.

Some of the cartoons I remember watching were GI Joe, Transformers, Voltron, Robotech, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Inhumanoids, Centurions, TMNT ... I'm sure there's a ton of others but that's all I can recall at the moment.

I have many favourites and most if not all have been mentioned.
But Gumby holds a special place in my heart (he lasted from 1956-1967). But I remember when they showed it in the 80s.
Also Darkwing Duck was very cool! Wasn't the theme song sung by Michael Jackson? I remember dressing up as Darkwing with my wide brimmed hat and cape and jumping around the house. I then got into **** Tracy and created my own spy club and codes. Great fun!
