Have you guys watched "To save a life" before? It is a Christian movie for teenagers. It has a really powerful message, and a touching plot. Believe me or not, I weep throughout the movie. The movie was really realistic. After I watched the movie, I visited their website. There was so many teenagers who shared their testimony. The most of them wanted to take suicide, but after they watched the movie, they accepted Jesus as their savior.

I recommend it to everybody!! Well, this is not a children film, so don't let your little child or younger siblings watch this.

Agreed, Atria. At times, some Christian movies seem to spend more time on the message and not enough on production. I'm not expecting something spectacular like 2001, but at least give me something of above average.
That being said, I'd recommend Letters to God. Out of all the Christian films I've seen, it was the best.

Christians should stand out as different from the world. What really ticked me off was the way how they portrayed the Gospel. There was no repentance and brokeness over sins and clinging to Jesus to save you from the punishment of Hell. I understand it's geared to teenagers but still (I think I better shut up).

Anyway, I did cry when Roger commited suicide. My former youth pastor took me to see it and recommended it to my mom. It's definately not a children's movie considering the fact that there are some steamy scenes and it's quite graphic when Johnny sits in his room and cuts himself.

I didn't see any of this]was[/I] sick about what he had done, and he showed it. I can see how you could say that the Christians were "worldly," but that was the point they were trying to make. The preacher's kid had fallen away, showing that Christianity is more than just what you call yourself, and the other, more apathetic teens in that church needed to be reawakened by the main character's words because they had become blind to their own problems. In many ways, the church has failed in those ways, so I thought it was a rather powerful way to remind us about that.

As for the movie itself, it was all right; it's better than the average Christian movie, but on its own merits, it was just OK. I probably would have gotten more out of it had I been to high school was a bit younger when I saw it, to have been dealing with those issues - not to say they go away, it's just that they're more relevant in that situation.

To Save a Life is one of those movies that when it first came out I really wanted to see it. My youth minister at the time took my home youth group to see it (at the time I was away at college) and the movie was not showing in my area. I wanted to buy it over this past year, but that never happened. Hopefully over the summer I can get out and rent it or something. But for the majority, I've heard nothing but good things about this movie, especially considering the age group and the issues it discusses.

lol, it's okay. It ws easy to tell because it linked you to other places to watch the movie, had multiple links to watch it, and saw it offering movies that aren't out of theaters. Always look for those things when checking out a streaming site.

Haven't seen - actually was, invited as part of a group to see at back at NAU. The timing was rather painful as I was seriously considering suicide myself at that point. I wasn't close enough to the group by a long shot to feel comfortable attending and most certainly wasn't going to open up to them about the reality of things.

I don't know what the movie ends up saying, but as survivor of severe depression (God willing it never returns), I can only say that people should be deeply humble about those that are going through such an experience. It seems to me that many people find it easy to try and apply their experiences in life to such a thing - to act like it's just sadness or unhappiness for a period (and the way it's described, why would they know any better). However, severe depression can only be known through experience and I believe a great many people who go about acting morally superior to the suicidal would be wonder-struck at just how quickly the experience could bring them to their knees in front of the same decisions - their life on that razor edge of death. Anyone that chooses to fight to survive against such a thing is incredibly brave - and those who don't make it are no less then human and hold my deepest sympathies for what they had to endure to come to that point.

I passed on it as I do most Christian films cause they tend to be put together pretty bad. But the subject matter seems interesting... something not a lot of Christian productions really hit on. As someone who's dealt with severe depression and self hatred for nearly half my life, I wouldn't mind seeing it I suppose. I was never suicidal (never attempted it anyway) but I did want to many times and constantly passed my time with suicidal fantasies and I can understand and empathize with those who have or want to end their life or struggle with depression, hopelessness and just feeling trapped. It's something I think a lot of people don't understand who have never truly gone through it themselves. I don't think people truly understand how serious it is till the person actually kills them self but then it's too late to help. I have some experience with this cause there were times were I would open up to someone cause I felt it was either that or just end it now. And it was hard to do... and while the person was usually sympathetic, they never really understood and obviously thought it was just a passing moment they needed to comfort me through rather than anything that had been life long and serious.

So yeah, while I think this has started to subside (I've come a long way), there's a real place in my heart for others who still silently struggle now and I hope God finds some way to use me in helping people like this. So I'm glad this movie is out there and letting others know this is VERY real, even within Christians (which a lot seem to think that depression is a sign of a spiritual problem and you just need to turn to Christ but that is usually NOT the case (well yes, you need to turn to Christ in everything - though with depression, it's easy to forget and lose yourself - ... but I mean, it's not a lack of faith or something wrong with your bible reading like people seem to think)... When you break your leg or have cancer, you don't just ignore treatment. Ya get medical help. And a broken leg or something is not a sign of a spiritual problem... why is depression looked at as one?).

I don't mind watching Christian-themed movies, but this one seems pretty depressing. I never watched the movie, but by the looks of it, the movie seems pretty dark because it portrays teens going through dark situations. The movie is very realistic for teens to watch(which I would recommend them to watch), but for myself, since I don't like to watch dark themes in movies, I might give it a pass.


Fireproof? I heard about that movie and it seem excellent for a Christian one!
They really did a good production about it.

Yes!!!! I love those movies and plays so much! Also to save a life and fireproof are both pretty awesome christian movies. I would elaborate more, but at this point im writing on my cell, and it's a bit hard to type here. Lol

Depends, I thought it was okay (better than Facing the Giants, at least), but I did think it was better than most Christian movies in comparison. Of course, I was highly disappointed since I had been expecting it to be a movie about firefighters, but....

Facing the Giants, Fireproof, and Letters to God are three of my favorite Christian movies. David Nixon has done an amazing job with both his directing and producing skills. In favor of the same sort of themes and issues that To Save a Life deals with, I am looking forward to the next movie that David Nixon is a part of, Renee, which is based on the story of To Write Love on Her Arms. I have high hopes for the movie, given both David Nixon and David McKenna (the one who opened his home up in the TWLOHA Story) are on the production team.
